Zen 3 Launch Availability

When will it be possible to buy a Zen 3 cpu without using a bot or paying Scalper rates?

>>I just went with the first one on the list and only after I got all the way through check out did I go back to see what I got. :)

Sort the combos on price low to high so you can try the low ones first. Got my 5900X on the second lowest price combo that way.
Dropped off the crappy combo memory at the post office today. :p

.
Haha, nice. I got a 5600x coming and I got it with a janky 8GB memory. Will be sending that back once received also, lol.

Agree on intel - there is plenty of Intel stock so if you need something now, I think that intel is the way to go.
Not to mention that most Intel chips (even 10th gen) goes on sale more often. Z490 boards are also not as bad in terms of cost now that most X570 and B550 boards are either out of stock or being sold with a slight markup.

I noticed this as well...I think now it's cheaper to order directly from AMD rather than MC for a 3900. Or just go Intel. You can now get a 9700k+cheap board for slightly more than a 3600 by itself.
Maybe Microcenter is incentivizing their shoppers to buy what is on the shelf and clear Intel stock eh? Its all lost sales if the customers see no AMD and walk without buying anything.

I think that is exactly what is happening.

Since that last note, we have received an updated shipment schedule advising us of delays. Based on this new information, we now expect to ship your order at the beginning of the new year of 2021.

We apologize that we previously said expected December 21st.

ouch that sucks! Sorry, mate. :/

I talked to B&H yesterday, they said "AM5950X1632 is a new item coming soon with an estimated date of 03/04/21"

Just checked and received the same email. Order was for a 5950x. Was really not being too hopeful on it despite getting the Dec 21st email, so I'm not too surprised.

Curious to read if anyone else here who ordered and got the Dec 21st email have heard anything else, maybe someone who got their order in earlier. Placed my order in at 12:55 eastern time.

I've been trying to score a 5950x or a 5900x since launch day... Still no luck. Have tried everything - camping Microcenter, discord, web site monitoring of all the popular sites, etc. Did another round of camping at my local MC in Minneapolis - got there at 5:20am. By store opening at 9am, the line was a solid 50 people deep. (I was #7) The only AMD CPU stock they got in were for 5600 and 5800 series. :-( They did however get some 3070/3080 stock in though. No AMD GPUs at all.

I just won't resort to paying a scalper. So, I decided to shift tactics a bit. I scored an EVGA 3080 FTW3 Utlra... going to see if I can't leverage that in trade for a 5950 or 5900... one brand of unicorn for another.

It really is looking like the top end AMD 5000 series CPUs are going to be scarce for a while yet. Most likely through March just because of the demand. Really hoping supply starts to catch back up next year. Crazy how these and GPUs in general have become so hard to find.

Has AMD said anything publicly about supply and when to expect large scale availability?

same email for my order of 5900x twins :-( I even got my TUF 3080s almost 3 weeks ago and CPUs are the only missing component to finish two new builds :-(.... To add to the pain I've been hunting for new consoles.... got XSX fairly easy, however PS5 is impossible to get... Today I wanted to buy my son a nice mouse pad, which is also OUT OF STOCK... when is this FECKING 2020 going to end?

Built an entire system around Ryzen 5600X. 5900X was delayed so picked up a 5600X to tie me over.

Completely useless upgrade doesn’t quite describe it. Coming from 8086K @ 4.9 Gs for daily use this is performing same or less in games.

My Cinebench scores also seem lower than what is typically posted. Can someone tell me which settings to use as definitely not getting 610 score SC and 4700 MC. Barely getting 510 SC and 3880 MC.

sorry... I don't have 5900x yet and I was actually thinking of going for 5600x. What bios version are you running? is RAM running at 3600? did you try stock settings + enabled PBO? Perhaps open a new thread with some screenshots and more info; and I'm sure peeps will try to help you.

Been getting occasional WHEA errors with this 5950x installed now in an ASUS TUF X570+. Even with 2802 BIOS revision. The betas did it too. That was with memory clocked at 3600mhz. These are the bad ones, where the machine reboots or desktop crashes and the shell reloads.

I've got a new kit of memory in there now (b-die, single rank 8x2) and am on the latest BIOS that came out day before yesterday. Keeping it clocked at 3200mhz for now and verifying stability there before I try moving it up any.

Try lowering FCLK for your RAM. It seems all zen3 users are BIOS beta testers and as user you end up chasing your own tail. That's why maybe my 5900x oreder delay till 2021 is not a bad thing, as I'm hoping there will be more stable BIOS with new AGESA.
This is good thread (MSI mobos) listing some of the major current issues. Most of them are impacting other manifactures too (including Asus). Good luck!

I pre-ordered a 5900x form B&H very early on Nov 5, 2020. I receive a confirmation that my order was confirmed and my Paypal account was charged. The status still shows back ordered.

I also received a December e-mail updated pretty much saying that nothing has changed.

I don't expect to receive a 5900x form B&H this year.

Such a shame that scalpers appear to have them at @$830 to $850!

Yeah, when B&H opened their preorders many hours before launch, I thought it was fishy.

Got a 5600X through a forum at a premium 2~3 weeks ago, it died within 12 hours. No OC or anything just got more unstable/resets/etc. Verified with known good hardware and narrowed down to the CPU. AMD RMA told me to fuck off because I wasn't the original purchaser, thankfully the seller is taking it back and just dealing with the RMA/refunding me.

Bought a 5800X last Fri/Sat here on H and now USPS has changed it's tracking from arriving yesterday to 'in transit, arriving late'. ugh

I've had one one spontaneous reboot with my ASRock with my 5950x using the latest "official" BIOS. I upgraded to the latest beta BIOS, and I've been good since. (Been 24 hours now ...)

But I'm running @ 3200mhz, which is what my memory is rated at. From what I read the challenges are around going higher than 3200.

I've had a few with the 5600x and a number of them where when I was changing Nvidia Control Panel settings on the 3080.

I was having WHEA issues with my Crosshair VIII + 5950X until I upgraded to the latest BIOS. Ran for 3 days straight with Folding@Home set to max since then with no problems. Ram is G.Skill B-die running at the XMP profile for 3600.

As for availability, I've been trying to get another 5600X for a buddy but it seems impossible as many more people are now using bots and Amazon has done zilch to quash their access.

PanzerBoxB,
I recently purchased a used 5600x off a [H] member that I haven’t installed yet - waiting on a mb. I’m currently trying to trade a new/sealed EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra for a 5950x over in the FS/FT section. If I do manage to score a trade, the 5600x is yours if you want it. PM me if interested. I know how hard these are to come by from personal experience!

Aliexpress has a bunch of 5900x, but no 5950 which I'm waiting for as I just purchased the motherboard and fan to replace my Threadripper

AMD RMA told me to fuck off because I wasn't the original purchaser
That's interesting. So everyone buying a scalper CPU isn't able to RMA if it dies because they are not the original buyer?

That's nice to hear, anyone buying from a scalper is just as bad as scalpers themselves.
No, the scalpers are worse but unfortunately it's not illegal. Not in the strictest sense anyway but it should be. If all you are doing is inserting yourself in between two parties to extract money that should be illegal. Unfortunately it's hard to prove and there's no real incentive to do so. Not to mention that would be a fairly sizable chunk of the economy. People love to b**** about how much stuff cost but I've been around people that get all giddy at the idea of how much they could overcharge somebody for something because they're the only game in town etc. We all kind of suck. I want a 5950X myself, even though I know logically there's not much value in it. Just stuck with the idea of future proofing and not being able to buy anything better for this motherboard ever and I'm bored and it gives me something to do. But we'd all be a lot better off with like a $300 motherboard at a $300 CPU, from the evil Intel even. At least I managed to wait almost 9 years or more I can't remember to upgrade.

Managed to get a 5600X ordered on Amazon. It said February delivery so I guess we'll see how long it actually takes.

Lucky timing or watching in stock streams?
Hotstock app. First time it alerted a couple days ago I missed the chance. This time I hit it as soon as I got the alert and was able to add to my cart. Definitely recommend it.

The app is incredibly hit or miss. Have been using it the past 3 weeks. On some drops I got notification before Discord notifications went out. On other drops I didn’t even get a notification at all. This was while using their premium service for 1 month.

Hmm, I'm using the free one. Definitely possible it works better for certain stores/products than others.

Huh, probably a bug or people click pretty fast.

I check my bookmarked links for 5900X from time to time throughout the day - not sure why I bother lmao. From what I've witnessed stock is gone in under a minute of being reported, really disappointing for now.

Microcenter in Sharonville OH shows 5 5950x in stock this AM. 11 5800x still which was 12 yesterday evening so maybe we are hitting local saturation on the 5800x? They would all sell out by midday previously. 5600x must have just came in since none showing yesterday and 25+ this AM.

Lots of 5600X stock notifications, I saw a 5800X too but it sold out quickly. I think 5900X and 5950X especially will continue to have serious stock issues for quite some time.
