Star Citizen - media blowout, Chris Robert's new game

Star Citizen is adding another development studio

CIG has partnered with Canadian company Turbulent to launch a studio dedicated to making new Star Citizen content...Canadian company Turbulent, which Cloud Imperium Games acquired a minority stake in last year, is launching a new operation based out of Montreal dedicated to creating new features, locations, and entire star systems that will be added to the game "on an ongoing basis."

Turbulent has been involved with the development of Star Citizen for years, but primarily behind the scenes, on things like the Star Citizen support site and backend technology...this announcement is for a separate, dedicated studio that Turbulent and Cloud Imperium hope to expand to 100 developers over the next three years...

Read the article, they will build new star systems, not ships

Not sure why you buy the BS (much like hiring double the number of employees since 2015 has sped-up development to a lightning pace )

The reality is that until Chris is gone, the management will still be shit. You can't expect major changes if you're still managing your subcontractor as a Control Freak with no vision. Freelancer could only be saved once they fired Chris.

Are...are people still buying ships for this? I practically forgot about the whole thing.

yes, five years after the first ship sale they are shill laying-out over 1 million a day for anniversary ship sales.

It's quite pathetic.

I'll post some crowdfund screen grabs once I get home.

I've played over 100 hours of the game and when it works it's bloody brilliant even at this stage
Interesting, what is brilliant about it? the game play? The missions? The ai? The world building?

When I browse /r/ starcitizen, all I seem to ever see are screen shots and nothing to really do other than imagine content.

And remember, this stage of the game is pre alpha, but somehow legally also a released product according to CR, all for 10 years and over $300 million lol.

The graphics, missions, dog fighting, planets, stations and moons fidelity.

There is more to do here then in no mans sky and elite dangerous.

Both games with millions of copy and paste flat boring planets.

The space battles in SC is the best in any space game i have played and is only getting better and better with each update.

Its great so far.

Each to their own.

I'll throw out my favorites, just in case; Graphics and world interaction, flight, sound, and realism (as far as you can be realistic in advanced sci-fi). (No Man's Sky planets are actually amazing these days)

Hate the QD flight time, spline jumping around a planet, elevators everywhere.

But I've never seen half the stuff (crazy bugs) I see, but I don't doubt many of them exist. My favorite was getting picked up from a detective mission by a passing Cat driver, and then destructing his ship because I hit the chat and started typing and the third or fourth time the interface didn't respond and took all keys as control inputs. I was mortified.

I guess I should reinstall it and try it on my new rig. Last time I tried it there was basically nothing to do other than run around the space station and fly around. Couldn't really figure out if there were any missions, or what.

There's plenty of missions you can do. Not to mention the whole mining gameplay and some cargo running

So for $100's, I can play a space mining game, what do you do with the money you make mining?

Can I buy all the ships CIG has shown/sold?

How are the exploration ships and game play?

How customizable are the ships? Weapons, shields, armor, sensors, etc...

How many people can play on a server these days?

What is there to do on planets? Can I build on them?

Can I Hire AI crew to help run a ship I pay $100's for?

How is the first person combat that Chris Roberts said was better than Battlefield and Call of Duty?

How is TOW that was said to be ready for release 6+ months ago?

When are they releasing the next planet/moon/system?

You can buy any ship that's flyable in game.

You can buy any ship that's flyable in game.

You didn't really answer any of his questions, how about a simpler list.

So how is it better than Elite Dangerous?

Can you equip every ship system?
Are there unique upgrades you can grind for?
Are there factions to grind for unique ships/items?
Can you explore the universe?

Just to abbreviate the few things I've done in ED over 100hrs.

Is that all you can do in Ed? A game older than SC?

I knew it was barebones but diddnt know it was that scarce.

Makes SC looks like a fully complete game lol.

Anyways you grind uec to buy ships and components for it. Also fps weapons and armour which is none existent on Ed lol

You read like a trolldiot, and either have reading comprehension problems or are just another SC shill.

ED you can do plenty, what you've listed in SC is barebones. So in caps, just so you may see it (maybe you got bad eyesight).

CAN YOU GRIND SPECIAL ITEMS?

CAN YOU GRIND FACTION REP FOR BONUSES, UNIQUE ITEMS, AND INFLUENCE THE COURSE OF CONTROL IN THE SYSTEM/UNIVERSE?

CAN YOU DISCOVER THINGS?

CAN YOU VISIT THOUSANDS OF SYSTEMS?

HOW MANY STAR TYPES?

AND FURTHER ALL THESE QUESTIONS WHICH ARE LARGELY THINGS YOU CAN DO IN ED TODAY:

How are the exploration ships and game play?

How customizable are the ships? Weapons, shields, armor, sensors, etc...

How many people can play on a server these days?

Could you please answer my question rather than posting a tautology?
He can't because the answer is no, and if i've learned one thing about the SC crowd, its that they can never admit that anything in or about SC is wrong.

I tried to hope on during the last free play, it was a massive fluster cuck and I never even managed to get out of the station, let alone experience the 'amazing' gameplay that makes it better than even the X series, let alone ED.

I don't entertain trolls that's why I don't answer your silly questions. Go find out yourself by trying the game now for free or using Google.

O and sc does have issues. Lots and lots of issues but for some reason, millions still play it

I was cond out of $60 at the very beginning of this charade back in 2012, I'm still hoping this will turn into something worth playing but so far it's not even close.

I install it about every 6 months give or take depending on the update schedule. Every time I play it's a bigger disappointment than the previous.

This game makes Battlecruiser 3000 AD look stable and feature complete.

LOL, that's your response? the SC crowd is nothing but trolls. I tried, the game barely launched, when it finally did I got tired of trying to get out of the station due to glitches.

Keep your garbage game, I'm still enjoying ED and waiting for the true next great space sim (which this will not be).

Because it's a complete, well thought out game with good controls and plenty of stuff to do despite it's bugs.

Star Citizen isn't any of those things except for the bugs.

I do wonder, since SC pretty much just hires people to promote the game on the internet rather than develop it, are people like Jonneymendoza and Stark just on payroll? Nobody else could really be so blind to the absolute mess this 'game' and its development in 2020... right??

Hey guys its the holidays. Remember to donate to Star Citizen. Think of the children.

Well, technically Chris is a spoiled child

It doesn't require much creativity to convince an army of idiots to pay the most money

Go take your trolling out of this thread and dive into your precious ED

Again another useless post .

zzzz.

Maybe answer something.

The reddit road maps are hilarious though.

Tell you what, I'll legitimately buy you a PS5 if this game launches feature complete in the console life span.

If it doesn't you can buy me one of those $500 jpeg ships.

Let's not even mention Odyssey - which we are only a handful of months away from now. Walking around nearly anywhere, fleshing out planets we couldn't get on before (likely), FPS gameplay to the extent you don't even need ships if you don't want, more mission types and factions for both ship (I believe) and FPS, a ferry system to get from A-B, graphics update, and more. There is zero pay-to-win in Elite - which will be a massive problem if pigs fly and CIG can get a proper game out of the mess they have on their hands. The only thing SC has over ED after all that development time is cooler ship designs (and many are just concept art) - I'm hoping FDev focuses post-Odyssey on adding more ship variety in both design and function (when there is essentially one ship meta like what you see with the FDL for PVP that's pretty lame to me).

SC is just in way over its head now - and Chris Roberts dug the hole so deep here we are nine years later with one fucking buggy system and broken game mechanics that never seem to get squashed. Watch any SC stream on Twitch and more often than not what you will see is people just aimlessly dicking around (reminiscent, or worse, than what you see in GTA5 online) or ganking other players.

I use the anaconda, but yeah more ships would be nice.

I would love if SC was anything more than a CR nightmare battlecruiser 3000ad redux, the concept is amazing which is why it suckered in so many.
