Dodged a bullet

Why spend $800 more for ~10-15% more performance? I would just buy another 3080 (maybe a 20 GB version) and pocket the difference.

Dodged a bullet but hit by a cannonball.

The 3090 is more than twice the price for a mere 20% increase in performance (at best!). NVIDIA margin on this one must be absolutely insane but I am sure that Jensen Huang will appreciate your generosity.
With respect to VRAM, the 3080 20GB is expected in the coming months, which will resolve this issue at a much more reasonable price than the 3090.

Taco to be devil's advocate;

Perhaps she got the card legitimately?

If said person wanted a 3090, why not buy a 3090? If they didn't want a 3080, then why take one away from someone who wanted it?

Even if it was a legitimate buy, and their mind changed after purchase due to the resale price, why come here and say anything at all? It's clear that the vast majority of people who were interested in buying the card were not able to. This is just, "I'm an asshat, look at me" type of behavior.

Fuck them...another for the ignore list.

So glad I sold my 3080. Really dodged a bullet and now will be getting a 3090 with the profit from my 3080 :)
What bullet did you dodge on this? Was your intention to get a 3090 from the beginning and saw an opportunity to get a 3080 to resell?

I see nothing wrong personally in this, took work to do, thinking, planning and was rewarded with a profit. His money, card, do what you want with it. Use it for target practice if someone so desired as far as I care.

Scalping I see somewhat different, still debating thought wise, if a hunter goes out to kill one deer to feed his family that is pretty much acceptable, or sales part of or all of it in order to take care of family. A hunter going out killing 50 deer, preventing others from getting a dear to feed their family but then sales the dear at much higher prices since there are no longer any deer to hunt for an area impacts more than just his/her family. While a much more serious consideration considering food. Since society exist if individuals agree on certain laws/standards to go by, fair game rules like waiting in line, going by limitations such as 1 card per customer -> Scalpers break such rules and cause a form of disarray for that group. In Nvidia case I blame them mostly for their very poor way of handling the sales, lack of hardware, if I go to a store that promised items that I want and will be there, available, spend time going there and there is nothing with no way to know when -> That is pretty much crap for taking care of your customer. I also blame EBay allowing such a market place to take place as well, new items should automatically be eliminated for sell unless it is a authorized type of dealer with a history on Ebay. I frankly don't believe Nvidia didn't know this would happen, when it was happening they allowed it to continue to happen, their measures was easily broken etc. Conspiracy theory, no not at all, just the facts here, either they are totally incompetent or allowed this to happen is my only conclusion.

i wish people would stop saying this.

We don't actually know what the real performance difference between the 3090 and the 3080 is. Leaks suggest one thing or another, but the information we have is incomplete and potentially misleading. For example: 3DMark 10 scores are virtually meaningless. It isn't as if a given amount of 3DMarks translates to XYZ FPS in specific game engines. It likely comes down to use cases as well. The 3090 might not be necessary under 4K, but at 4K it could be considerably faster. We just don't know enough to make judgement calls and whether or not the performance is worth the cost given that we don't actually have any real idea how it performs.

That's fair, I am just talking current rumors/leaks. But at most, based on raw specs, it seems like 20% or so would be the maximum.

Well done, sir. You have successfully pissed off every person on this forum that wants a 3080 but was unable to snag one on launch day.

Luckily I don't care. A 10gb 3080 made me enough to get a 3090 for the price of a 10gb 3080, lol. That is all I care about.

True enough, but rumors are not pointing in the right direction for a large increase in performance for the money. When reviews come out and say otherwise then we all can revaluate however with what little we have seen, it looks pretty weak.

Inappropriate Behavior
Keep digging that hole, bud...

The only thing worse than a scalper, is a scalper who is proud of their scalping.

You think I care about this forum? Look at my account age vs number of post. Anyone that doesn't like me turning a 3080 purchase into 3090 funds can eat a bag of dicks.

People crying but it isn't worth double the price. lmfao! I am basically paying 3080 10gb price for a 3090 ;) Cry to the morons paying more than double to get a 10gb 3080 ;)

Lol, yup didn't know he was going to go full on clown but had a feeling it wouldn't end well.

I get what the OP is trying to say but he really should have kept that to himself...great deal re-selling the 3080 and getting $700+ profit but I would have kept the 3080 and used the $700 to buy a new Zen 3 CPU/motherboard/memory...or maybe use it on the 3080 20GB

Congrats, you’re the useless dregs of society who can’t just buy the 3090 with money you make by doing something useful .. a real job, business, etc. You also waste your precious time on earth trolling forums and playing video games. Got a real winner on our hands here.
