I'm looking to spend $300 or less for a board. I will go to $350 if it is worht it.
The system will have a 3700x installed in it.
I need front USB C. Don't need wifi but would like it so I could use my phone if internet connection dropped.
Plan to get pcie 4.0 SSD drive for it.

Mostly productivity work but light gaming as well. May mildly overclock.

I recently helped my son build a Asus Tuf Gaming X570-plus wifi and it see pretty good. So that may be an option.

Been reading reviews on Gigabyte Aorus Pro & Aorus Ultra but the reviews on newegg are not very good.
Also looking at the Asrock Taichi but have never built and asrock machine before and don't know much about the brand. Lots of complaints on the chipset fan being very noisy also.

Thanks for any advice or recommendations.

I have a x570 taichi. Seems like a great board. Fan had a bit of a whine at first, but after updating everything and setting it to silent mode, I don't notice it. Then again I use headphones sometimes and have 8 ml120s on a rad keeping a temp delta of 3 degrees. YMMV.

Feel free to ask any questions about it.

Is your internal front USB connection the updated one or is it blocked by the GPU?
Have you had any problems at all with it?
What type of RAM did you get?

Lemme check the USB when I get home from work. Zero issues whatsoever, and I'm using 16gb of FlareX 3200c14 back from my r1600 build.

Taichi is one, if not the sub 300$ AM4 motherboard right now. Even Buildzoid says it.

I seen it with rebate now, good deal if you are searching for a well rounded motherboard.

The Strix E is my pick for best sub 300 board. At this price point all the boards are generally top of their class so it comes down to preferences and features. The Strix E is fully loaded, same vrm as Crosshair w/o the price and you get a best imo bios interface and pwm fan control.

See other's opinion:

MSI Unify - join the darkside! Zero problems with mine, really happy with it.

$300 seems like a lot to spend on a mb for a 65w $300 cpu. The vrn in most of the b450s is enough for a 3700.
All that being said I have also been looking for new mb for my 3700. It’s just hard for my to justify $250+ for a mb that isn’t going to offer me anything other than pcie 4.

I picked up the Aorus Ultra on release weekend with a 3700x and it's been solid through all the bios updates, including betas. It did "suffer" from the ramping up and down thermal issues in early bios's and drivers. but that's all been addressed.
