AMD baits nVidia again

Ok so clearly this is a pervasive issue since GN even made a video about AMDs driver issues with Navi so let's not pretend this won't be an issue with the 5600 XT:

And I know there's those in denial who hate Reddit but here's a random thread I just saw while reading over Reddit, check out the replies here: https://www.reddit. com/r/buildapc/comments/eqr2k9/any_rx_5700_xt_owners_tell_me_about_you/ (reddit linking is broken on this forum so just fix the spacing in reddit dot com)

Space invaders may have been bad for Turing but that was a Micron issue more than anything else.

typical 5150joker and his endless AMD GPU thread crapping.. the drivers were never part of the topic until you brought it up like you always do in every damn AMD GPU thread.. make your own thread and talk about it, quit crapping on everyone elses threads and constantly derailing the discussion.

I completely agree with this, since there is no never ending drivers issue with AMD, unlike what some still try to claim.

There’s a crazy number of people who complain about AMD drivers who have only had Nvidia cards since their old ATI Rage 128. I’ve historically switched back and forth between the two brands and haven’t noticed any major differences between the two in my experience. As a matter of fact, my current 1070Ti suffers from crashes on a regular basis in Civilization 6 (if anyone knows how to fix this, please tell me, because I’m out of ideas), despite using Nvidia drivers that some in the community would have you believe were programmed by God himself.

That said, I have heard about issues with overclocking and fan control on the RX5000 series cards, if anyone wants to corroborate. My friend recently got a 5700XT and I was planning to help him overclock it, if anyone is able to speak to it. I heard you have to use Wattman instead of Afterburner for the fan control...?

Same here, minimal issues from either camp. I find it's mostly people who haven't owned an AMD card in 15 years complaining about how bad their drivers are. To be fair they're are sold issues now and again though, but it's like they completely gloss over space invaders and act as if AMD is the only one with issues.

MEGA SIGH

As has been shown here MULTIPLE TIMES the manufacturer, AMD, has stated there are driver issues. They aren't a mystery. When the manufacturer comes out and says there are driver issues, there are driver issues. Jesus.

Driver issues exist with both, that is why you check first and see how people are getting along with the new driver before just updating. Plenty of angry users on both sides when it comes to drivers.

Oh, for sure. Driver issues can be a problem for any manufactrer, especially with new hardware. I don't fault AMD anymore than I fault Nvidia when they had RTX issues because of micron ram. You do the best to fault find, but there is no better test bed than million of consumers.

My annoyance comes from those that claim there aren't problems, even when the manufacturer states there are.

Welp, you annoyance is unfounded then, unless you have been frequenting a specific reddit post or something. Oh, and I do not recall the thread being AMD baits Nvidia with driver problems but hey.........

I had 3 generations of AMD cards and had constant driver issues that looked like OS issues but always came back to the GPU. Moved to NVIDIA and never had an issue since, hell I never even upgrade my drivers from first install and its flawless.

I see AMD as cheap but buggy, NVIDIA is a premium experience where you aren’t treated as a beta tester.

My experience has been the exact opposite.

So there ya go we cancel each other out. The last 3 NV cards I have owned pretty much all sucked with the acceptation of a 750TI which has always just worked... but it was clearly never getting any heavy work. And it was the only card of the ones I have had that was PCIx powered and clearly not intended to be a high performance card. Still ya it worked well.

Nvidia also has the honour of being the maker of the only GPU I have ever returned. Nvidia has come a long way since (where talking 10 years back) when it comes to their 2D performance.... still hands down my ATI/AMD stuff has always had better image quality.

Sorry you had issues with AMDs cards... but there are people that hate the green stuff just as much. NV is not immune to producing iffy products.

Knock on wood, my 760gtx is still kicking! Lol

GTX 760? I wish. :D

I am still running an 8800GT with something like 40,000 hours of run-time on it, in >11 years of continuous service.

When I retire it, I think it deserves a funeral.

A nice upgrade I guess for anyone who wants a 5600XT. Generation Upsell continues a pace, with the race to bait becoming an endemic trait.

That was my point, thanks for agreeing. Both camps have issues, it seems a lot like to bash one group/manufacturer, while giving the other a bye. More often (from my own interesting, yours may differ) it's the Nvidia camp complaining of the AMD drivers, but it happens both ways.

You ever think that they are just looking at things constructively?

Maybe they are now on Nvidia cards because of the poor AMD drivers? You know, you don't have to play football to have an opinion on it, the same stands here. If you hear about AMD drivers regularly and then the manufacturer agrees there are driver issues, whether you own the cards or not you should be able to base an opinion on them.

If you think that, then go ahead and open a new thread about it.

Herkelman needs to go.

This is at least on topic, thanks.

Sure, you can form an opinion, so can everyone else. I prefer to get mine from people who own the cards. I'm just giving my opinion same as you, I never said AMD doesn't have issues, I agree they did and still do have some, as did/does Nvidia. My point is they both have issues, if you're looking to buy a card, look up any specific concerns and then choose. I think you missed the point where I agree they have issues and accept it. None of them are affecting me, and the # of people affected tends to be small. They are overblown by those who haven't owned the cards. It's like saying how bad the 49ers are because 10 years ago when you watched then last they were bad and you heard a Patriots fan say they were bad, so they must still be bad.

The cards are available to purchase already. One would assume they have the bios update installed. So if AMD did this as a last knee jerk reaction, then how did they tweak the bios on the cards that were already sitting in distribution?

Why would you assume that they do?

PC GamesN explains how to download & apply updated bios for every available 5600 XT card

https://www.pcgamesn.com/amd/rx-5600-xt-how-to-bios-update

The vBIOS updates pushed by AMD arrived so late in the day that some graphics cards shipped out to retailers before they could be updated. Hence there will be at least a handful unpatched cards out in the wild unbeknownst to their owners.

But hey, you’re here, and that means you may have noticed your shiny new graphics card isn’t delivering up to expectations. Below you’ll find simple steps on how to update an RX 5600 XT from most major manufacturers to unlock the fastest performance
