Cyberpunk 2077 delayed to September 17, 2020

Initially I was mad, I pre-ordered day1 on gog, and have always been a big cyberpunk fan, since reading Neuromancer back in Jr high.

But then I realized, 2-3 times I week I go check if Outer Worlds or Disco Elysium have added 21:9 support. Two games I own but haven't played as I hate playing with black boarders. Yes I know there are hacks that enable some support but don't want that.

So Yeah, after reflecting on it a bit more. It's not black or white, but I'm ok with it. Continue polishing.

i think this is just kind of the norm anymore. They give a release date because some suit says we need one so that they can get the yummy preorder money knowing that people aren't going to cancel t he pre order when they push it back in increments over time.

It only takes about a month from going gold to store shelves.

Yes and add a week or so for console cert (which comes before going Gold). Marketing plans are a bit more long-term however. A month early release, sure, but not half a year.

Is everyone forgetting the shitty watcher 3 launch until months/years passed? Their list of fixes was very very long. I think I'll wait until 2021 to play this properly in their Enhanced Edition

You either view the Witcher 3 trough rose tinted glasses or you're an infidel. I remember it had a rough launch regardless of not having played it at the time.

When I played it that game still wasn't perfect, but a lot better than some games. Not having a pause button for long conversations or cutscenes is absolutely annoying. I needed a mod for that, and I played the game in 2017 if I recall.

Still, not even remotely comparable to Star Citizen.

eh, haters gunna hate. so cdrp are trash people, they suck, they lied, they abuse their workforce.... like pretty much every company. satisfied? why are you still here then?
a whole lotta drama over crunch and such, as if it doesn't happen in other industries where they have people pull doubles and cut corners to meet timelines.
compare the witcher 3 release to the anthem trash release or fallout 76 trash release. talk about broken ass trash that still lacks core features.
at least CDPR actually DOES fix their game post launch.
yeah, its going to have bugs, lots of them. this is what happens when you QA test on 20 different systems then on release it runs on 6 million different systems.
stuff gunna break. I imagine they will have huge bugs, showstopper bugs that were missed.
If that bothers you, then wait another few months. Or never get it. Whatever works for you.

god your taste in games sucks.

Witcher 3 wasn't terrible, but it wasn't perfect either. Lots of camera angle bugs, very low quality assets shown up close, and other small bugs.

Nothing really game breaking when I played it that I can recall. Just lots of repeating tasks as the game was far too long for its own good.

never said W3 was perfect, it’s far from terrible, even far from average.

M76 does have terrible taste in games.

While I greatly dislike the "If I don't like a game it sucks" attitude, not liking W3 doesn't mean someone has terrible taste.

He also isn't exactly wrong about how rabid some of the Witcher fanbase gets about 3. It has a messy, controversial, launch that people like to ignore when looking back on it. Let's not forget CDP constantly lying about the graphics downgrade. I don't think they have ever admitted it to this day.

yes, the graphics were downgraded.... because hardware was not strong enough to render properly in a vast open world.
nvidia made all sorts of promises so they put a tech demo out. they then failed to deliver a a product that would work, be easily backwards compatible and run on most machines
much of this has been fixed in the last nvidia generation. but hey CDPR sucks so lets blame them instead
now nvidia has their new generation coming out and will likely want cyberpunk to be their launch tech demo.
will nvidia screw CDPR again? Dunno, but that is probably one reason we will be waiting 6 months longer to find out

This is exactly what I mean by the reaction some people have about Witcher 3. A ton of meaningless drivel that attempts to pass the buck instead of admitting their precious CDPR can be anything but utterly fucking perfect. Not to mention the drivel completely ignores what was said in order to steer the narrative away from any faults CDPR has.

Edit: And inevitably any follow up will be super defensive and make claims about me being a "hater" or "not liking the game" or some utter bullshit that continues to ignore the point.

The game has tons of faults, but so what. do you go around bitching about the lettuce your store sells not being fresh enough? just shop somewhere else and be done with it.

And you just proved me right. By the way, not a single damn thing you've said even begins to address my initial post.

LOL, you're lame. I said it had a rough launch that you can't admit in public because If you dare to speak any other way than the utmost praise about the wither 3 you are instantly bombarded with hateful messages. And I'm being proven right just as I speak.

I see you've met Cyberpunk fans. Deflect is their battle cry.
No, they are Witcher fans, and I think they are all in for a rough awakening when they realize that Cyberpunk is not the Witcher. The Witcher is a third persion view RPG, while Cyberpunk is a first person view cyberpunk shooter with RPG elements. So lt will have more in common with System Shock, than it has with any of the Witcher games.

Which is why I am looking forward to it. Witcher 3 had underwhelming sword fighting and in general, combat wasn't that great. The shooting mechanics I've seen so far in Cyberpunk look at least average to good, so it will likely be a step up when it comes to fighting. And I assume fighting will be a huge part of the game like it was in Witcher. Going to first person for Cyberpunk was a superb move.

I didn't like the fighting and combat in the game either. Still more rewarding than Kingdom come deliverance though.
