The Surge 2

I mean, the guy has a point - some of the comments in there are really reaching/just straight-up nonsense.

I didn't play the first game, but I thought the conceit there was that you were trapped inside the CREO facility and as such, there may not be guns available to use. Makes sense.

The new one looks like there are open-area forests and stuff? Maybe makes less sense.

He doesn't have any point, the game is designed how it is designed and all he is doing is whining.

Why is there no guns (at least in Surge)? Because the game is literally designed around chopping off body parts and mounting them to yourself to go chop off more body parts.

If you want guns there are plenty of games designed around guns.

Well yeah, "because game" is a fine excuse, I'm just saying if you want to think of it in terms of "how would this actually work were this reality", it's a valid point.

I don't think it's any sort of mark against the game itself, just an interesting discussion point.

Problem is people take it as a mark against the game, rather than realizing that its the way the game is meant to be.

As for guns and reality, yeah we will never ever give up guns. Its just to convenient to be able to kill something with a piece of high velocity metal at a range of 0-400 yards (yeah sharpshooters can shoot further), and there are very few effective means of defense barring some magic technology.

Fucking dark souls. they have magic and shit but no guns. WTF hand cannons existed 800 years ago. horrible design. miyazaki should be ashamed of himself.
I live in murica. Everyone has guns. I walk around my grocery store and can find stacked guns and ammo. Game Realism 0.0/10

The thing is, if people want a "Dark Souls-like" with guns, they should get Immortal: Unchained or Remnant: From the Ashes. Giving a game a bad review just because you think that guns should be in it automatically invalidates your opinion in my view.

ACG and Skillup like the game. there are issues, especially abysmal console performance. If you are on console then you may want to wait, PC, although sometimes frustrating, can be very satisfying.

all the reviews I've read mention it being a big improvement over the first game...still has issues as far as enemy repetition, boss fight camera issues etc but overall as someone who didn't play the first game it sounds worthy of a buy...I actually have Surge 1 available as part of my free Game Pass PC subscription so I'm tempted to play that

Mixed Reviews on Steam go figure not to write off the game but I didn't think it was going to go over well someone said it was unfair instead of hard lol.

How many reviews are posted so far? Did you read any of them?

241 Reviews posted so far I'm thinking the game just pisses people off =D Most of the complaints are about performance rather than gameplay.

the game sounds like an improvement over the first game but I still don't think it's going to sell well...

WGAF. Play and form your own opinion.

unless it's from a developer you trust this is not the way to do it...you don't buy something and then decide whether you like it or not...you do your research beforehand and then make an informed decision

First Boss took me about 5 tries I switched gear and healed though the fight you get a battery charge then you can heal mid battle.Fun game it's alot more fluid than the 1st game for sure. It's one of those game you just can't plow through. I never finished the 1st game the grind was too mundane and the bosses were out of my league unless I studied them on youtube. I think I should of went with a different class with the 1st game instead of a slow striker.

Trying to lock onto this guy totally defeats the purpose of the mechanics of the game =)
Still stuck on him but my guys is leveled pretty good.

Update: I'm using the staff now just updgraded it works just as good for taking out the legs.
I got him to the point where he goes upside down but then he spews posion at you at random.
Also found a shortcut to get to him faster hidden behind some boxes.

Game give you a tip on how to cycle the targets which I didn't know left trigger or bumper.

Done with this game goes into the unfavorites list little Johnny can suck it boss is way too hard.
I can get his legs down then the inside stuff just requires luck you slide into him sideway
and he still kicks your ass because he will stomp or sit on you screw this shit.
I gave it a try but I keep staring at the screen harder and harder
and nothing gets better it gets worse. Oh you can use your drone with a little
amount of ammo doesn't even faze him the only way to beat him is to level a bit but
that is grind garbage.

The "inside stuff" will become easy once you target them manually. Target the main chassis, then use the 'switch target' feature (right stick on controller) just as if it were a regular enemy you were switching targeted body part. You will switch target to the main chassis batteries and it will become a cakewalk. Can walk right up to them and melee, no special techniques needed.

If I remember correctly on the walkway leading to that bossfight is a tutorial message about targeting and switching targets, which was probably a hint from the devs.

The Surge 2 is getting an expansion next week in the form of The Kraken, which transports the player to a giant decommissioned aircraft carrier, the VBS Krakow, and it's found at the outskirts of Jericho City - the setting of the main game...

Worse Boss even for targeting =D

Yeah it took me about 60 tries to figure that out =D I kept going for the legs on the outside and I couldn't hit the inside stuff because it wasn't marked. You use the left trigger to target the legs
then use the right analog joystick to target the inside which I wasn't doing. I could of saved myself like 4-5 hours if I knew that. I even learned how to dodge the damn thing....

I used my Drone for the last Tank once I manually had the other tanks gone already.

Well in fairness it does tell you that in the form of a permanent message as you enter the boss arena.

I think I read the top line of the message but didn't read the bottom I think the message turns up in the first run then it's random.

I struggled with him as well. I finally tried the drone using bullets and it tore him up.

Next time I get his life down to less than half I'll take out the drone. I suppose I could use a drone mod for more damage.

Took me about 4-5 hours to beat Delver lol yeah I know I suck I didn't know he had 3 transformation the 2nd one is the hardest one. So I would take out my drone to finish him just before his 2nd life meter was almost gone.

Near endgame the door in this bottom screenshot says it's a major turning point once I enter it. There is DLC for this game but I guess it's really short I'll probably check it out. I like this game way better than the last game for the reason the grind isn't nearly as bad I spent so much time trying to get to firefly in this game they have quick shorcuts to the bosses when you unlock them. The maps are small but do you really want AC Odessey maps =)

Amazing if you know where to go

Slow motion limb cutting

Yeah this is my last Dark Souls game for a while it's not that hard but hard enough to piss you off easier than the 1st game which I never finished. I have 37 hours in the game just got to another boss which was two or three stages.

It can be a hard game at times knowing where to go is probably the hardest part.

Just a heads-up, if you were interested in this game it is currently ~$10 on Newegg, which I believe is a historic low. Premium edition is ~$13.
