Destiny 2

Riskrunner went from "WTF, why would I ever use something so circumstantial. I never seen any adds use Arc" to my go-to for add clear for the vast majority of raid encounters. One of the most fun guns in the game to use, I start cackling like Palpatine every time Arc Conductor gets proc'd. Huckleberry is probably the more versatile gun overall, but not nearly as fun to use, so it takes 2nd place for add clear in my kit.
Yea i was testing it out in the sundial yesterday to get catalyst kills and i was mowing down the adds when that thing proc'd i was like damn i kinda like this thing.....i have the huckleberry but i didn't like it for some reason, i think i was only using it in crucible i will have to check it out in PvE.

Huckleberry really shines in PvE. It has riccochet rounds, rampage, and a unique trait that refills its magazine from reserves after a kill. Once rampage hits 3x, it can 1 tap red bar trash, which is nuts considering the lethality of even the missed shots that are bouncing around. So much carnage, and to top it off you'll basically never reload.

A good place to try it out would be Shuro Chi in the Last Wish. Riskrunner procs here as well, but not unless you get Shuro Chi (boss) or the bomber Knights to blast you, or proc it yourself with an arc grenade. The later rooms eventually get more arc gunners too though.

So much THIS, lol. Last Season they included the Catalyst with the drop, so I got lucky. I was brand new to Destiny and it was my goto for most of my LL climb. Still love it and use it frequently. Partial to my Recluse, but only because of what I went through to get it.

I just finished masterworking Riskrunner last week. I love the thing. It has been my go to SMG after giving up on grinding for Recluse.

I hated that grind... but, it was worth it. Even after the nerf. I got my Glory up as far as I could go before the gains started dropping off, and then I went to Discord's LFG channel and found a Carry group that helped me get the rest of the way. This is rather common if you've never looked into it.

I am only going to put so much work into something that I want because I know 9/10 times it's going to be nerfed. If I get something done during the course of other events, great. Bungie has conditioned me well.

So, Devils Ruin was uh.. certainly a quest. Sure. Neat.

However, Legend Sundial allowed me to get a 970 Power weapon which GoS lacks so there was that.

Apart from running Legend Sundial when the Inotam boss is released or for "choose you're own" pinnacle reward, there isn't much of a reason to run it over regular. For that matter, there was no reason for no Matchmaking, it's hardly any more difficult than normal mode. The only things that can get you really are Match Game and Extinguish if people aren't paying attention but other than that, its not much different.

I wish they would get rid of no matchmaking altogether and just have a gear check and a warning message like any MMO I have played.

I would go just a step further and if your are not LL 950 or whatever that you can't participate.

Yeah. Some sort of MMO like Queue that checks your lvl, gear, and equipped mods and matches you appropriately would be perfect. Leave no matchmaking available for the try hards who are trying for world first or power leveling friends. This is how most or all of the MMOs I have played do it and it works well. Occasionally you will get a group that doesn't mesh and can't clear, but I find that preferable to a bunch of endgame content that is behind an outside of game LFG reddit wall.

I haven't done any 980 stuff yet. I would like too, but I feel like I'm not that good yet, and don't understand enough about the finer mechanics. I hadn't really paid attention to the modifiers up until recently.

On a related topic, are the Menagerie Bosses randomized, or do they rotate each week or something? I need a specific Boss for one of my Exotic quests, but haven't seen him yet.

--

Unrelated, I've come to understand the Crucuble mode Momentum Control (which I already enjoyed for its more realistic damage) is the "weapon grinding mode" for Crucible quests. I banged out all my Grenade Launcher kills & Medals for Mountaintop (still need 2100 Glory this Season), then all Scout Rifle kills for Randy, and now I'm going to annoy people with my Arbelist for Komodo. Thanks Bungie for naturally accenting team work with your Quest goals.

Pretty sure they're weekly.

Just picked up Devil's Ruin, has to be one of the easiest exotic quests. The gun itself is pretty underwhelming in its primary mode and melts majors in its beam mode. I love it and kind of hate it. Going to try it out with Mechaneer's Tricksleeves later to see if it feels any better.

The 100% damage increase while wounded with Mechaneers its nuts.

Seems like for titans momentum control may be broke. I was running sentinel and (just going for vigilance wings catalyst kills mostly) but noticed when I do use my super my shield throw recharges in about 4 seconds.

Running bottom tree with two shields you can throw them at about sunbreaker hammer speed. I didn’t abuse it but the potential is there.

I haven't thought much of sidearms ever, really, until Devi's Ruin. That thing is earning my respect fast.

Eriana's Vow. I like/hate this gun. What's the quickest and most painless way to get the catalyst done?

Gambit Prime is the “quickest” or gives the most progress. Actually having fun playing, Strike Playlist is probably the least painful. At least in my opinion.

They give very little progress though as I recall. Also since it’s a new season now, the buffs to getting the catalyst quest progress are gone. My symmetry catalyst already has almost double the progress.

People were saying speed run Lake of Shadows strike. I guess that's the best way to get it done. It's a shame this was made "this" sloggish. Oh well.

More nerfing.

Wishender was a long time coming. It ruined the Gambit meta, whichever team has the most Wishenders will win. So it becomes Wishender mirror matches to keep it "fair." Outside of Gambit, I don't mind it being OP, but as long as it's hitting 4-5x, then I'm staying out of Gambit.

My strat? Ignore it. I just don't like that gun lol. I'm at like 27%.

I like it but... yeah, I'm just not going to kill myself for it. I have too many other awesome weapons higher up the food chain.

I'll say the same thing every time a nerf discussion comes up: It's a shame there isn't a simple macro or "check and balance" on PVP modes for weapons power and then if you're outside of PVE it's all out. Wishender is slow but if you're a bow person like I am it's a crazy powerhouse. I remember being in some Gambit matches with the Wish Ender but it's a shame the whole weapon has to be ruined entirely.

Screw Gambit. ;)

Screw gambit indeed.
The plus side to those catalyst quests is that eventually they’ll complete and give you the catalyst objective regardless now that Bungo changed them to not require the weapon being equipped. After that though...yeah getting the objective will be rough.

So weird question given what forum I’m posting it on anyone here do any crossplay stuff with this characters onto consoles? I’ve got two buddies that destiny has kind of been the glue keeping us all playing together on PS4. I’m just putting out feelers if there’s anyone maybe interested in raiding on console. Specifically console as I’m the only one with a true gaming PC capable. We also do have Xbox ones just sans non newlight content.

I've been running Momentum Control in Crucible all week trying to get all my 'kills in Crucible" quests knocked out (3 out of 4 done so far), but since I'm focused on Kenetic for most of it, I threw Erianas on to get whatever progress I could. Only 1% per round so, slow as it gets. I'm not a Gambit fan, and having to dedicate the Power slot when I kind of need Izanagi in Kenetic for the Bosses makes it even more painful. This will probably be the last Catalyst I achieve in this game.

On the bright side, in Momentum Control, it's a 1 tap to the head. Saved my bacon more than once. Not as much as my Recluse though, that thing is a monster close range in M.C. Shotty / Melee are stil king either way.

--

Okay, I'm getting off on a Tangent now, but I'm a Warlock main, but tried Hunter in PvP for the first time for the invis while sniping (working on Revoker). Hated it at first because I didn't know how to play it. Don't know how many times I dodged trying to throw down a Rift. However... I'm starting to get used to it. Maybe its the one hit melee in Momentum Control, but with the Helm that gives 5 seconds of invis on melee kills, and dodging near enemies to restore melee, I'm starting to feel invincible. Not working so well for the snipe kills, but the 'wambo combos' invis and melee chains are wrecking while capping flags.

I think I’m getting better at crucible. But I also think that I am not.

For once me and a buddy got in a fireteam and did some Comp as a two stack and went 5-1 on wins tonight. (And 2-1 last night) only a couple matches did the other team have drops.

But between the two nights pretty painlessly got both of us up to fabled. So he now has his Recluse.

Now if only we could convince our 3rd that PvP is not the devil, we could 3 stack and maybe get him to fabled. He’s backwards and would rather Gambit than Crucible. Cest la Vie

After 4 rounds in crucible I have 2/25 kills for the ace of spades, gonna be a while b4 I have it, hopefully b4 end of the year. :notworthy:

You're going for Ace of Spades? You never got it until now?

My best advice to you as someone who groaned through it and got what's still one of my all time favorite guns is this:

Pick your best hand cannon. Masterwork it.

I don't think you are confined to kinetic only on that so consider an elemental like Sunshot, Trust... any of these... or something that you really like that will do a certain amount of destruction after the bullets hit. Rampage, Dragonfly, Kill Clip... anything like this. Aim down the sights all the time and go for the headshots. Stay in crowds. Never go alone. Stay more towards the rear and do clean up work.

Put mods on for anything that helps HC ammo, skills, etc. Relax. Take it slow and easy. Somehow you will suddenly get it. Don't worry about winning. Don't worry if you die a trillion times.

You could go to Menagerie and roll a hell of a good Austringer for an HC. That's another fantastic HC.

Pick a Crucible mode that isn't complete chaos. Maybe Control.

The next time Iron Banner comes back then that might be your best shot far and away to get that done. Iron Banner is my positive jinx.

I'm using ten paces because that's the highest one I have atm, could make a sunshot but that would be 881 orso (I'm at 900 ish atm). I don't have access to many exotics at all seeing I try and avoid most forms of PVP in this game and don't have access to a clan to do raids, mostly playing solo now that my buddy has stopped playing.

Unless you’re playing Iron Banner (which isn’t up this week), the level of the gear you use doesn’t matter at all. Just use whatever gun you like the best.

Sorry for being dumb but I've never figured out the Pit of Heresy yet. I'm solo. Help! Is it possible?

I'm watching some YT videos now like this one:

I saw some good tips on Reddit, too, but it's going to be some effort.

Is Ten Paces a 110 rpm? If you have a 150 or 140, maybe try it. I'm New Light, and solo 90% of the time, so I didn't have much for HC's when I tried it. I think I did the Thorn quest just for that reason though. Either way, try Momentum Control before reset Tuesday. Everyone takes more damage, so there are a lot of clean up kills to be had. Your high damage 110 HC's actually work well in there (Duke for instance). I've been grinding out my weapon kills in there all week (Nade Launcher for Mountaintop, Scout Rifle for Randy, Fusion Rifle for Komodo & Sniper for Revoker), and it has gone much faster than normal Crucible. I'm 51 and cannot hit the broad side of a Countinent anymore, so as long as you're not running head long into the fray, then you should get 6-20 kills per round depending on map & lobby.

Looks like he used some sort of glitch to get the orbs to spawn at the altar in the 3rd encounter? Other than that, I can see how to entire thing is solo-able for sure. Will probably be more difficult for a Hunter without some sort of damage booster.

Ten Paces is a 140rpm. Doesn't look like its perks are well suited for PvP though, maybe Quickdraw + Opening Shot at best. For a 140/150rpm, I'd go with "Bad News XF4354," because it's relatively easy to grind for being a Forge weapon, and has decent rolls for PvP: Kill Clip/Explosive Payload + Accurized Rds + Outlaw/Snapshot Sights. Not as easy to grind for would be Spare Rations in Gambit Reckoning, but one of the best HC's in the game for its aim assist. (Edit) Austringer should also get a notable mention here, but I haven't grinded one yet.

Definitely ditto on Duke Mk. 44 though. For PvP, something like Kill Clip + Ricochet Rds + Outlaw/Rapid Hit + Sureshot HCS would make short work of people in just about any playlist. Here's my baby, but it's been vaulted due to the current Pulse/Scout meta:

I’m not sure about perks, but if you have Season of Dawn, Jack Queen King 3 is a 150 HC with a similar aim assist as Spare Rations and its much easier to farm.

Time for more stupid questions:

1.) Over and over again I find out I'm at a disadvantage as a hunter. I know people would tell me to simply fire up a Warlock and start over but I really don't want to. Is there no way to create a second character and have some kind of "lateral share boost whatever" concept? Again probably a stupid question.

2.) In game invite players: Have they fixed it where I can do /invite and /join in gamey yet or do we still have to friend people on Steam, at least temporarily, and do it that way? I haven't bothered since I saw that. Decent odds are I'm going to have to get the Pit done the first time with a team.

If you create a new character all of your high light level weapons are immediately useable on the other character. You’d have to get armor drops still, but with the weapons you average would continually be higher until you even out with where your hunter is. It greatly speeds the rate at which you can level up having two characters.

I know on console the roster list shows the blueberries, your friend list, and then clan list, and you can invite or message from in game on any of those.

1. Yes, you can create a new Guardian and transfer your high light vaulted weapons to the new character. You keep your seasonal progress too, so if this is a net new character, you can pull down all of the seasonal armor rewards to get a quick boost. You'll also have all your planetary materials, so you can go to the planet vendors to continually roll higher light gear.

If you're like me and had a character that was just in limbo for years, you can pull him out, then use your Collections tab to re-acquire green/blue gear over and over which will increase in light level until around 920. I got all my 750LL Warlock to 974LL and Titan to 973LL doing this (artifact is currently +13).

2. Open up chat, type /id to get your ID#, then supply that ID# to another player. The other player can type /join <ID#> to instantly join your fireteam.

I’m not sure about perks, but if you have Season of Dawn, Jack Queen King 3 is a 150 HC with a similar aim assist as Spare Rations and its much easier to farm.

I was close to suggesting this one too, but I don't like its perk rolls for PvP. Rampage + Subsistence + Ricochet Rds would feel good for PvE content though. That 91 aim assist does make it look mighty attractive though.

Its really not that bad and TBH, you might enjoy experiencing a whole new third of the game you haven't experienced yet. When I started playing this, I never thought I'd ever want to make all three characters but once you get them all even power wise, its not hard at all to maintain it. Your characters power drops will take into account your overall highest achievable power, and this takes into account everything in your vault AND equipped on different characters. Because you will have 950+ weapons on a 750 Warlock/Titan, almost every drop that you get is going to skyrocket your overall power (if its armor).

Man, what I would give to be able to experience the game all over again on a totally new class.

Treat it like a side project. Little burnt out? Fire up your warlock and hit the campaign again. I can guarantee you will HATE Warlock jumping, everyone does until you begin to recognize how to make use of it. I play and love all three classes equally but if there was a gun to my head and I had to delete two characters, my Warlock would stay.

I'm not actually sure how this is handled, i haven't tried it in a while.

Also keep in mind Solo Flawless isn't required for Harbinger. Solo is, as is flawless, but not together. However, you do get a sweet emblem if you can pull it off.

You really want to delve into some specific builds to make the solo easier. I grinded out Menagerie for 2.0 versions all the Hive specific mods and a set of armor to put them in as you'll really want to make use of things like Hive Armaments. With a Devourlock and Hive Armaments, you can use 21% Delirium as a primary at times and saved my ass on numerous occasions.

And yes, as that video showed you can "orb dupe" on the totem encounter and the boss encounter to save significant time. I've seen some pretty solid Warlock and Titan builds for the solo but i'm not familiar with the strategy for hunters.

I think the orb dupe would be a requirement for a solo run because someone needs to touch the totem's pad because of its wipe mechanic, right?
