So I'm a big Star Wars fan, and a WoW player, been with WoW since launch, and still play live, but burned out on BfA, and not interested in Classic.

I always wanted to try SW ToR, but the negative reviews and feedback held me away. But I recall the early development previews on game sites and youtube videos a few years before it came out, the original outlines and pictures of the early game development sounded AMAZING, and I thought was going to be a next gen WoW game but set in the Star Wars universe. I recall some picture of a big Jawas Sandcrawler thing on the planet Tatooine and it looked like something out of the movies, I was so stoked for the game, it looked jaw dropping cool in those early looks, several years before release.

But then the game came out, and the game play videos didn't look like the those early development screen shots from a few years before, as if the game had some internal shake up behind the scenes changing it?

Anyways, back to the topic. I was bored today, installed the free to play version, and picked a Jedi Combat guy, and got to level 7, and I am extremely impressed for starter level stuff, the story is actually really good and engaging. WoW's early leveling sucks, it's purely go out and collect stuff, rinse and repeat, whereas as SW ToR questing has way more meat to it? The graphics are pretty good, I am running Ultra maxed settings, but the character movement seems funky, not as smooth and detailed as WoW. And the game seems choppy, I have a RTX 2070, i7-9700K, 32GB DDR4, and a SSD, but the gameplay in forested outdoor areas is not smooth.

Overall, early in, it seems pretty good so far, not sure I'll stick with it and actually subscribe for $14.99/month, prob not, as I already sub to WoW. But SW ToR is better than expected, ad not sure why it's not played at all anymore, where WoW is still very popular with millions of players 15+ years on.

I played it on and off since launch and I quite like it, stories are good to excellent depending on the class, gameplay was decent enough, more forgiving then wow, but I also play wow and combining the 2 was a bit much, but like you when I got bored of wow I tried something else out and this one stuck with me.

One of like 3 games I've ever pre ordered. It was/is awesome. They just gimped the f2p so much and $15/mo is hard to justify with the little time I have to even play games anymore.

If you have a couple of months that you can commit to playing through some of the stories, you can definitely get your moneys worth. I hope they find some way to condense the stories into some sort of campaign mode when they pull the servers.

I thought it was excellent and the stories were great and had that Star Wars atmosphere. All the class stories are worth playing, I liked the Sith stories more. I'd say sub for a month just to get the extras, preferred status etc.

I left the game, came back after several years and finished all the content they had released in that time frame, in a month. That right there makes it hard for me to stay with the game. If they put out an expansion with more story content I'd go back. Six hours(after three years?) is what I hear the latest one had, that is not enough. I wish they would get the resources but I don't think Bioware and EA want to invest in it.

Is there a way to skip a lot of the dialogue back and forth when accepting new quests?

And do we get "mounts" or speeders eventually? Walking is slow.

And my one beef is the character animation, compared to WoW's it feels dated and not nearly as polished and fluid. Walking and jumping over things feels like stick man cardboard player, not a nice feeling smooth play styles like WoW

I sub every time a new expansion is released. (just for one month - to get the new content)

Preferred Status is all I really need these days considering I treat it almost like a single player RPG....

Enjoy the game!!

There are a lot of mounts/vehicles you can get to speed things up a bit, check the auction house once you get access to it. For the life of me I don't remeber if there are any lvl restrictions orso, I do lnow I got a sort of speeder with my collectors edition.

I tried this game last month but I couldn't get into it. It didn't feel like an MMORPG at all. It felt like a single player game where you and your friends take turns watching each other's cutscenes between long runs and boring quests/combat

Gettin the sniffles just thinking about the early days
for real. when it first came out i powered through the game with multiple chars, then just lost interest with all the changes. I've tried it over the last year again and its a shell of the same game.

It's actually not a bad game, pay to win aside.I fire it up once a year or so. Good storylines and some fun quests.

It is a better SP game with some online elements then it is an MMO though.
