I'll start off by saying I won't buy the Ti, way over my budget. I'm down to these two cards. I'm between the 2080 and the Super, I'll be running at 1440p @ 144/ 165 hz. What has been everyone's experiences with these cards at those settings ? Processor is a 3600 on x570, might got to to a 3900x in the near future, but it is not pressing. Would like to push high graphics settings but I do understand some games won't run very well with that. Not very interested in ray tracing because I know that is a huge performance hit. Currently have a 1070 watercooled, but will run new card on air until I get waterblocks. Thanks for any advice.

you won't hit 144hz constant at 1440p in modern games, but at lower settings on older titles you should be alright. You should be above 60 fps on the newest games (ie metro) maxed out at 1440p, which is really all the gpu market can do right now. I don't know if ampere is 4 months away, or if we won't see it till q3 (september), so if you plan on gaming your ass off until then, I'd say buy the card now.

However, if you don't mind playing at like 70fps instead of 90 fps, or 85 fps instead of 110, at the exact same quality settings, you can save 400 dollars and get a 5700xt and be done with it till something really powerful comes out later this year :S

It's a weird predicament, cause the extra 400 dollars doesn't give you 144hz across the board, but you're still over 60 fps in games.

If you are a competetive FPS player, as in, play in ladders and tournaments, you may notice the difference in a lower frametime from the 2080 super, but other than that, sadly it's a very similar real world experience gameplay wise.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I mostly play CSGO, but really want to get into other things. Only game really on my radar is Fallen Jedi and from what I see from youtube it runs around 90 fps, not sure of the refresh rate. FYI, I have a gsync monitor.

2080Super and game on.

No point getting a AMD card if your monitor is Gsync.

This is pretty much the bottom line, unless you were planning on changing displays. If i had to give you my advice, I'd say get the 2080super, since the 2080 is pretty much just a 1080ti with ribbons, you'll appreciate the 2080super much more if you're trying to get all you can towards 144hz. This is a forum for enthusiasts, and if you're like me, then having that little extra juice to play with is always too tempting.

It's too bad you didn't have a freesync display, the 5700xt is the best price/performance since the gtx 970.

FWIW you'll get like 300fps in CSGO with the 2080super XD

Also, your cpu is perfect for what you're doing, and realistically toss in a new gpu and slam.

I absolutely love my monitor, it isn't going anywhere soon. Asus ROG 27" 165 hz G-Sync. Yes it was expensive back when I got it, but I don't regret it at all. Looks like I'm going 2080 Super, any recommendations as to which one ? I don't really OC and will water cool it. No brand loyalty either.

EVGA has great customer service so there's that. They do also have a hybrid but prob wont matter to you if you custom WC.

EDIT: And a pre installed Block too apparently https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-3289-KR

2080 Super would be fine for you right now and what you want. However your also close to new cards that will be coming out likely toward the second half of the year. Personally I would wait to see as long as my current video card is working for me.
