Is there any way to permanently disable win 10 update? I own a tablet and ive tried disabling it thru services but it somehow gets around that!
Its idiotic to want to disable free updates.
Pretty sure you can't permanently disable it on Home/Pro editions. Only Workstation/Enterprise can fully disable it.
The reason why is everytime I do an update it somehow screws up something on my NuVision TM800W560L Signature Edition Windows 10 8" tablet. I think the new updates screw up the drivers on the tablet causing things to not work, only way to fix it is recovery and go back to previous version before update. Last time I updated my WiFi stopped working, battery would drain super fast, other times blue tooth, or my sound wouldn't work, touch screen stopped responding etc. As muz_j pointed out sometimes updates screw more up than they fix If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it...Also the updates take up so much space and the tablet is only 32gb windows is literally using it all. I only use it at work offline, rarely ever get online with it as I have a main desktop pc for that. Appreciate the help
IIRC GP:s are now disabled in home versions. You can disable just WU drivers by way of GPE.
This is a true statement. Kinda. GP's can still be implemented in a home version, but not easily. Access to gpedit is disabled, but it is possible because GP's are how certain tools like Anti-Beacon function. How they pull it off though, I'm not 100% certain.IIRC GP:s are now disabled in home versions.
There are ways to enable the group policy editor in windows 10 home. Google it.
Of course, if MS just made an updater that allowed advanced users the option of full control, none of this rubbish would be necessary.
This is the crux of most issues related to Windows.
If they made it so you could stay with a major version of 10 and still get security updates, gave the option to not include cortana on install, and had the Microsoft store be optional (along with apps), Windows 10 wouldn’t be that bad.
On the other hand one must understand why MS forces the updates on people. Many users are incredibly stupid. I've seen people who never turn off their computer and leave their work software running 24/7 just because they don't want to wait the 5 minutes in the morning that their bloatware filled craptop takes to boot. That sort of people would never perform the updates.Of course, if MS just made an updater that allowed advanced users the option of full control, none of this rubbish would be necessary.

Viper the hp tablet you mentioned only comes with 32gb as well and it's resolution is only 720p..The one thing my tablet has is 1920x1200 I don't think I've seen any other win 10 tablet for this price that's above 1080p..I am keeping my eye another tablet once this one is done with and I Def want 1080p minimum as I often use it to watch movies and retro game. But I always have a 64gb sd card on it so 32 gb is not a big deal for me. Also no point in updating if it stops so many things I actual use from working...
no because windows checks to see if it is running and will reenable it if it is notCan’t you just disable Windows Update service?
Already thought of that mazz but the programs I use are windows only...

Unfortunately no I tried disabling it thru services and it often starts up on its own! So annoying, no other windows has ever forced updates like 10..
Disabling the service won't work, as you've found it will just re enable itself. Furthermore, if you do manage to disable the updater completely it's not uncommon for Microsoft to force the update onto your desktop.
auntjemima I will try what you said with the guest account. Btw should I just delete the update files that windows has on my tablet currently? I hate deleting it bc as I said before if I delete it then windows downloads it in the background again!
