Destiny 2

The void grenades last season were amazing to. Having that debuff that caused void damage to increase damage taken made them super leathal for dropping on flags or lock rifts like that. Got so many grenade and ability kills from it in crucible lol

"Oppressive Darkness". Those were my goto, especially on Bosses for their 30% debuff. They were nearly as deadly in PvP as the Solar one's are this Season. Still wish we had the Boss debuff though, seems like they want to replace that with the "Charged with Light" mod buffs.

Thats for the chaperone exotic shotgun from the chick in the hangar.

I have not found that quest yet, seems to be a random drop.

You pick it up from Ammanda Holliday in the tower/hangar

Yeah I've been to her numerous times. One of the websites I was at while looking it up said they thought it dropped randomly, and then you had to see her about it. No confirmation though, so I don't know for sure.

Here is what I found

How to get the Chaperone
The only way to get the Chaperone is to receive the quest “Holliday Family History” which drops randomly at the end of a Crucible match. There is no way to increase your odds of receiving the quest, simply play Crucible until it drops. Once the Crucible Tournament drops, players will need to go and speak with Amanda Holliday in the Hangar to begin the tournament proper.

I played crucible for the first time in probably 6 months yesterday......boy i was rusty to start but by the end i was 2nd or 3rd on the team. I must say that i enjoyed playing supremacy the most out of all of the different modes. I also find it disturbing that you get the best gear drops randomly after a crucible match than when I was doing dailies......That just proves that they are forcing people into PvP.

This was my first Iron Banner, and for the most part I enjoyed it. The quests distracting people from the objectives was annoying, but I had to do it too, so there was some understanding. Still, had a good time, raked in some nice Enhanced mods and enjoyed some funny moments.

The one that had me laughing the hardest was this dude I had Solar naded twice trying to cap Control Points. Caught him trying to grab heavy, and almost got him a third time. We tussled briefly and I tossed my nade when I knew I was going to lose. He ran towards the Heavy and it broke his shields but he backed out before it could take him all the way down. Still, he only had a sliver left. I was watching all this while waiting to respawn, and he gave me the "I'm watchin' you booooy" emote. I laughed so hard I almost got killed again at the spawn point. Love this community so far. There are t-baggers every now and then, but most people have been a delight to game with.

The bulk of my experience in Destiny games has been hugely positive for sure. I milked Iron Banner last week for all it was worth since it's my PVP jinx in a good way. Between some of the people's names and some of the shenanigans, there are truly hilarious things that happen whether intended or not.

The Essence of Dawning bounties are easy double XP boosts, too. Don't forget to milk that for all it's worth as long as it's going.

I ended up doing two characters in IB. Withe Christmas and the absolute slog the quest is, I couldn't swing the third in time. Have to love getting 3 energy weapons in a row for the Pinnacle bounties. :/

With all the crap that goes on in D2 PvP though, I still feel like I mostly enjoy it. The simple fact is, shooting things in Destiny just feels better than most other games.

I had just made this comment a couple days ago. I come from Division 1 & 2, which are good games and also have a good Community, but Destiny 2 has been more fun to play over-all. Even those moments where you're up against Players with high ping and none of your shots are registering, the fun still manages to out weigh the irritation. Understand, I haven't been a fan of PvP in anything for a long time, most especially The Division, so it is an anomaly that I'm enjoying Destiny's. Maybe I am just burnt out on The Division, maybe I just missed the teamwork I enjoyed from Battlefield 2-4. I don't know, but the buddies I drug over from The Division are also enjoying it, so it cannot be that isolated.

I got most of my friends playing Destiny 2 about a year ago. We've all played it consistently since.

All I can get my RL friends to play is Grid (2019), GTA V, and Skater XL....

I have to agree with you on this. The Division is a great game when you play co-op, i think they have that game play nailed down. Their PvP has been broken since the original and didn't get any better in #2. They haven't built a game that replays well, way to many repetitive missions. There isn't much variety there. Destiny 2 on the other hand makes it so easy to keep playing. Between public events, some PvP, exotic quests and secret ares to explore everyone else is playing catch-up. Their season passes actually make sense as well which is why i purchased it 2 times now.
I didn't even give The Division 2 a thought about buying the pass because i saw no value in it.

Went through the new dungeon for the first time this week. Trying to solo it and I get stuck at the Totem/Orge boss fight. I think the dungeons have been my favorites activities in this game.

I would play more destiny 2 if I did not need to do as much PVP to get to the good stuff, but I guess they do that to keep a decent amount of players doing PVP even if in my case it is just to serve as cannon fodder.

Also I never managed to get to max light lvl due to their silly loot system and (and I said this a couple times b4) their lack of info on how to get stuff done or even what the bloody icons on the map mean next to each planet.

Why not get people up to max light lvl with random drops but lower quality gear like greens iso farming those high lvl rewards to get there with purples only. The division has imo a much better loot system then destiny 2 by a longshot.

So starting last season, you could easily get to 900 with random world drops, even blues. 950 was attained with Powerful drops, as Destiny has always done it. Any activity that rewards a Powerful reward, will be an overall upgrade. These are yellow/gold icons on your map and when you hover over it, it will specifically say "Powerful Reward". 100%, its terribly explained but that's how it's done.

Right. And if you can hover over the activities that provide pinnacle rewards, which bring your light level over the soft cap of 950. The limit using pinnacle gear is 970.

I have to disagree with the loot system. The division 2 has way to many stats and combinations to get this done well. The grind to get the right gear you want is just insane. Trust me i played both Div and Div2 and loved them both but the loot is just a pile of hot garbage. At least in Destiny 2 you have a limited pool of gear to get. The system to get over the cap is built pretty well as long as you know how to work it. The division 2 there is no way around the RNG they created for the loot pool. They don't have curated stats like Destiny except for the set bonuses but those bonuses can be mitigated by a really crappy roll on base stats. Its just terrible......I still love the game play of the Div2 it just gets boring fast for me.

Bungie definitely nails the feel good shooter aspects. It’s why Destiny is so easy to go back too. The grind can be annoying, but at the same time this game can be the equivalent of background noise. I can easily loose an hour of my life just on a patrol shooting low level mobs. Turn off my brain and play.

Recently started playing Halo Reach again, and I used to think Destiny gunplay was super similar to Halo (which it is) but man, the hitscan weapons in Reach just aren’t feeling right anymore.

Edit: To add into how the guns feel, sound design is a huge part of that for some weapons. Some of them just have an amazing firing sound recognizable from across the map.

I think the only time I ever hit Destiny’s hard cap was in Forsaken and I hit 600 because it didn’t require pinnacles/raiding. And possibly I hit itback in The Taken King era before it was raised to 310. I don’t really remember how. I know I never hit 400 in Rise of Iron though :(

Right. And if you can hover over the activities that provide pinnacle rewards, which bring your light level over the soft cap of 950. The limit using pinnacle gear is 970.

Soft cap is 960 as of Season of Dawn.

I really got back into Destiny 2 over the holiday break. Me and my two friends tried competitive PVP for the first time ever. Within 2 days of playing off and on grouped, we all the The Recluse. I had previously thought this to be just about impossible! Really close to getting The Revoker as well.

I agree with everyone above that the gun play just feels amazing compared to all other games. Nothing better than logging on and just shooting things.

Since there are just 3 of us playing, we don't have enough to try any of the Raids, but we're doing what we can and having a great time.

My only complaint at the moment is that every friggen NPC in the tower (and elsewhere) has bounties to do. There are just too many to keep up with. There has to be a better system than the task-master mentality they have on "to-dos".

Currently grinding Calius bounties that I never bothered to do for the Bad Juju!

I too get overwhelmed by the bounties but if you look at what each one is trying to do you can match up the bounties and possibly get like 3 to four bounties done in one activity. I took a bunch of Vanguard, and Banshee quests, as well as the strike playlist and knocked out about 8 different bounties in an hour. I didn't complete all 8 for one NPC but i had a great start for the week on the overall.

Its in a bad state, for sure. Trying to do absolutely everything can be very tiresome so at the moment I narrow it down to a few sources.

If i'm just getting on to grind bounties, I usually do it in Strikes to start off with so I grab all the Vanguard bounties, Gunsmith/Banshee, Obelisk, Saint-14 and Eva's Dawning bounties. A few strikes you can knock out a large chunk of these and for the ones that need something specific, I'll jump into Patrol or whatever I have to do.

It's like a job which I don't like, but then at the end, clicking off all those bounties and watching that XP rack up is quite satisfying.

Isn't there some kind of psychological explanation for that?

Something about endorphins and the bright lights and happy noises. Like a casino.

or doing a job you don’t like over and over may just be insanity.

Banshee every day. I'm milking Dawning bounties like mad and I've doubled by XP from the 30s to near 70 since Dawning began. Double XP a pop is really nice.

Past that I do bounties for whatever I'm actively focusing on. What's good is when you have two or three that are basically the same from different vendors. It can add up very quickly.

I went from 40 or so to over 500 Essence after doing IB that I should really sit and just make cookies for a few hours. Traveling to all those vendors though is super annoying.

Just pick one vendor that you have a lot of materials for and make as many cookies as you can for them. Thats what I did last year once I had all the recipes unlocked. I got kinda burned out on Destiny and haven't been playing much recently but I dont think there is a reason to make different types of cookies once you have the sparrow fully upgraded.

Found this extremely useful, thought you guys might like it:

The tl:dr - these are the optimum stats for avoiding deminishing returns. These apply to all classes, but I've parentheses the classes where they benefit most:

  • Discipline = 7
  • Intellect = 5
  • Strength = 6
  • Recovery (Warlock) = 10
  • Resilience (Titan) = 7
  • Mobility (Hunter) = 10

The point is to do the bounties for making cookies for a specific vendor, not just make the cookies. That's what gives you the double XP.

Ahh I didn't realize there were bounties for making cookies for a specific vendor. That would be a pain having to travel all over to turn them in.

Yes, do this. It's worth the little bit of effort. The results are downright stunning. Milk this thing as much as you possibly can. Nonstop double xp for practically nothing. It's the easiest boost you will likely ever see.

I know I will have XP maxed out before Dawning time is done easily.

Mayhem has been great for racking up more Essence quite fast. I forgot how absurdly fun that can be.

I’ve been struggling. Their solo queue matchmaking is utter trash 75% of the time. Only occasionally does it give a good fair match up.

I'm pretty much not going to do anything that requires solo comp. I got up to about 1850 glory in comp towards getting Recluse last season (Heroic 3), but at +60 for a win and -52 for a loss, I could never get the last few hundred points I needed. Of course it reset to zero when the new season started.

Yeah I think at reset I’ll have the points for my Komodo and then I’m calling it good until next season. I did however get Revoker which will probably just rot in the vault.

Finally fully master-worked armor, never thought that would happen. Mostly due to the Pit of Heresy spitting out MW'd armor pieces, and the gifts from cookies giving back 5 cores. Also made a lot of progress on Izzy's over my winter vacation, completed it on Saturday:

Made a ton of progress over the last week for myself. I got the Lord of Wolves catalyst completed. I picked up Telesto from exotic engram from Xur, completed a nightfall with over 100K, and picked up the riskrunner catalyst, and finished a number of exotics quests.......It and im now 939 LL. It's pretty sweet.

Riskrunner went from "WTF, why would I ever use something so circumstantial. I never seen any adds use Arc" to my go-to for add clear for the vast majority of raid encounters. One of the most fun guns in the game to use, I start cackling like Palpatine every time Arc Conductor gets proc'd. Huckleberry is probably the more versatile gun overall, but not nearly as fun to use, so it takes 2nd place for add clear in my kit.
