2700x OOS @ Amazon, should I be worried?

So yesterday I ordered a shiny new Ryzen 7 2700x with an expected in stock date of the 28th or 29th (I don't remember which) and a delivery date of Monday December 30th. When I clicked submit order, this was the confirmed delivery date and if I go to order status, it still shows Monday as the estimated delivery date. This morning I hop on and see that if you order now, the CPU is expected something like January 7th with delivery on the 8th. Then a bit later, it's showing out of stock as in you can't even add it to cart now.

So for those with more CPU/Hardware ordering experience on Amazon with this apparently high demand item, should I be worried I'm now in for a long wait or does Amazon sell these things based on expected shipment quantities or something like that?

Who knows. You are more then likely going to have to wait til the 7th and see. I would of though since 2xxx series is out of productions stock should be gone by now but yet companies are still getting new stock. If you have a Microcenter near by you could just go there and pick one up for the same price.

Nearest Microcenter is pushing 2 hours away so no go there. And I would have gone with a newer 3700x or 3800x but at $150 for the 2700x, I couldn't see the additional performance being worth the cost in my use case. I figured I would wait a year or two then pick up a used 3xxxx CPU when either new or used prices come down a fair bit.

Did you buy from Amazon (ships and sold by Amazon), or a 3rd party seller? Either way, it could be that there was only one left and you got it, so the next guy will have to wait a few more days.

I've played this game before and I got the item on the date it said when I ordered. I'll bet your 2700x shows up on Monday.

I bought direct from Amazon, shipped and sold by. When I bought it, and for the rest of yesterday, it said in stock on Sunday December 29th with delivery on the 30th. Then today it changed to out of stock.

So it looks like, if my optimistic guess is right, they are expecting a shipment Sunday and I'll get fulfilled out of that. My uncertainty is I don't know if Amazon works like that...

Fingers crossed here for sure, thank you for keeping the hope alive! :D I sold my current hardware based on the delivery dates because one way or another I'm disassembling my current setup Sunday to ship Monday so I would prefer not to be without my PC!

looks like it depends on the seller. Amazon shows some back order other sellers are all over different ship dates

I just noticed that once you mentioned it. Seems like some say order now to reserve yours for the delivery date of "X". So hopefully I have one reserved since I got in before the went OOS/back order!

I am sending my 2700x back to amazon. After a week of dealing with CS, they will only offer me the 3 month xbox pass. (instead of that plus borderlands 3 or the outer worlds.
i told them i will buy from microcenter instead. this is after talking to several supervisors.

fuck this.

So get this. I saw Microcenter had a 3700x open box for $240 so I went to pick it up, but it was already sold. The salesperson offered to just sell me a new one at $240.

Got my game code right on the receipt too!
