Borderlands 3

i tried.... I could eventually kill the bugs but nothing else :)

even with the bugs being 4 to 5 levels above me they sure were not dishing out any real XP to help me get my level up higher. Sitting at lvl45. I think my guns didn't overly help. I went through without really using elementals because they weren't needed....I think they may be now.

I'm at 50 with a fairly optimized character and maybe 10-15 max-level perks. I still gave up after about 10 minutes of killing bullet sponge enemies with no payoff. The drops weren't any better, the XP was no better, and it simply wasn't fun. I was making progress really really slowly and lots of running like hell. It seems like it could be fun with a couple other people, but slogs that like just don't appeal to me. I did a few in Destiny 2 and swore them off.

I'll be picking this game up this weekend. Looking forward to it!

It's fantastic. One of my favorite games of the year and one I'll continue to play for the next few. If you like the older games in the series, you'll enjoy this one too.
It's also one of the only games where I'd recommend getting the "season pass" without a second thought. The previous Borderlands DLC's have been among the best I've played from any genre or era.

Sweet! Ya I'll pick that up.

I loved BL2. I'm all about that hunt for new weapons and stat upgrades.

I got BL3 with an amd processor purchase so the timing is just right with the dlc.

Ya I gotta research some good class combos for BL3. I usually like my first playthrough to be with a sniper.

They've made regular updates to the classes and abilities, so they're all pretty feasible. You can re-map your skill points at any time, so you don't need to worry about being stuck with a particular build that isn't feasible.
All of the classes can use all of the weapons, so you can easily focus on sniper rifles with any of 'em.

Still slow to load DX12 for me, and it seems that every time they push an update, the game takes longer to load, going by how far Claptrap dances. Was one and a half dances at first, now it's almost 2 full dances for me. Screens, that is.

im seeing $39 base, which means $29 after coupon.

Yep, lots more legendaries, and bandits respawn like crazy. I think I grabbed about $5 mil or so from the slots & pickups. But I HATE the damn jumping puzzles, especially in space.

Edit: Just looked at EGS, BL3 is now taking up over 70 gig of space. Dayum.

So far I haven't been all that impressed with the Moxxi's Heist. For a giant casino I'd say it's pretty sterile. It isn't bad, but it feels empty. There are large open ares with just nothing. Maybe things pick up as you get further, but a few hours in I'd say it's a bit of a letdown. It's still more Borderlands 3...which is great, but it's not as creative as the (free) Halloween stuff.

One word for Borderlands 3 the game is Overproduced way too much work was put into the game. Thus dimenshing the reward factor.

i think the real problem is the lack of enemy types and this plagued the core game as well. Just the same thugs, mostly, over and over. They added like one new thug type, those armored dudes. They really need more enemy variety.

Yeah, that seems to be the case. The Loader enemies aren't really anything special or unique, and they make up about 1/2 of the enemies in the Moxxi's area. I think they need more enemy varieties and something beyond ammo and money boxes. It's tough to get motivated to open boxes when you have full ammo and 10 million dollars. The only use money has at this point is to buy more vault SKUs...which I don't really even need.

On the other side of the coin, I have found some fun loot in the new areas. I got a class mod that makes Atlas weapons fire 30% faster and it compounds critical hit attacks. This makes my 855x2 Atlas assault rifle fire faster than a SMG and it absolutely wrecks things in Fade.
I also found a pistol that normally hits pretty hard (900+ damage) but it randomly applies status effect every time you reload it. That can range from explosive rounds, to crazy rapid fire, to fade-like critical hits. Sometimes it will apply all of them at once. Even when it's firing normally it's pretty good. With those effect live it's probably the most damaging weapon in the game.

I completed Moxxi's last night. It's definitely not as hard as the main game. I found several of the later main game bosses to be really tough (especially the Agonizer & Troy), but there's nothing in the DLC like that. Wild guess, it's probably designed for people who are only 2/3 of the way though with the story. I'm maxed out with decent gear and ended up playing through on Mayhem 2. I needed a "second wind" a few times from status effect enemies. Never died except from falling, though.

While the mission is nothing special (it's okay, though), it feels like the rare drops are much better than before. Nearly every Legendary that dropped for me was decent. From the shields, to the class mods, to the weapons. I even got a rocket launcher that doesn't suck. I still feel like the best Atlas assault rifles are the best in the game (by far), but I at least have some occasional reasons to use other guns.

If you're playing the normal game and are at least level 30-35 - give it a shot. The stuff you get there (from quests) is worth keeping and using.

Wow he is cool looking

That's the single toughest fight in the game, IMO. When he starts swinging those blades around in a circle, sometimes they just aren't avoidable. You're supposed to either jump or duck them, but it simply doesn't work sometimes. No clue if it's character/build specific, but I struggled with it. I could never duck the high ones and I could only jump the low ones about 1/2 the time. Even if you do it right, it's still a battle of attrition.
I found it best to try and keep the random enemies alive so you can get a second wind from killing them. He instakills your beast with those blades, so he wasn't of much use to me.
In that video it shows his armor already down after you respawn. That wasn't the case when I fought him. Death meant starting over, and that fight is long/stressful.

The Troy fight is also tough, but there's a trick to that one. It initially seems like you can't get a second wind, but you can if you look around carefully.

Agreed, that is a tough fight. I figured out the timing on the blades after the first couple of second winds, but my Fonics Monkey actually stayed alive and rezzed me a few times (it fits under the high blades). The twins were both difficult but straight forward to me, I don't think I died on either one. Agonizer got me at least a couple of times, but was a tough but fun fight. It helps that I love the hell of of Penn's 'carny trash' patter.

The final boss of Moxxi's is a farming goldmine. I thought I got a bunch of drops just because I killed him once, but he drops a tons of loot (and unlocks more) every time you kill him. We're talking 4-5 Legendaries every fight and at least a dozen purples on Mayhem 2. Quite a bit of $ if that's what you want, too. You can warp right to him and the fight's not that long or that tough, even with the difficulty cranked up a little.

EDIT: Tried it a 3rd time and ended up with 8 Legendaries for my trouble. There's a mini-boss just prior to him that melts in seconds and also seems to drop them. This is THE farming spot...discounting exploits of course.

Has anyone ever gotten a Legendary Atlas rifle to drop? I have a full set of golden gear that's better than the normal stuff, but my best weapon is still my purple Atlas rifle. By a mile.

I got a legendary Atlas rifle yesterday. The rifle fired a bunch of mini smart missiles at a pretty high fire rate, but ended up dropping it because it wasn't quite as good as my current weapons
