Lots of Billions discussed today! Mainly losses

"Clearly, Intel realizes that it needs breakthrough performance and efficiency to go up against NVIDIA, the 800-pound gorilla in this space, and it can’t be happy with its Nervana efforts to date. And Intel must get this right; I don’t believe it will get a third chance, but it is still early enough in the game to switch horses. To quote the Moor Insights & Strategy founder Patrick Moorhead, “We’re in the first inning of AI and there’s still room to maneuver.”"

The count is 3 and 2, 2 out and bases are loaded. Here's the windup and the pitch, Intel swings and ....

At least they aren't putting all of their eggs in one basket.
If they can't improve their CPUs soon, it might not be a bad idea for them to transition into another industry, and one that has not been fully tapped at that.

Who wants to acquire me for $2bn?

I make a good friend when I have energy, and my political viewpoints are sure to make you laugh while using me as a dartboard

(serious inquiries only)

[Intel learned their lesson with the complete dominance of mobiles by ARM, better not miss the next big thing..]

Well to much competition in the x86/64 area apparently. Mind as well go to custom AI. Higher margins and intel has the corporate ecosystem in place.
