Why does this all sound so familiar? Of course!
Lobotomy to cure mental illness. It worked and kept the mentally unstable calm by giving them brain damage.
Downside? Well, basically it turned a human being, brother, mother, friend, into a zombie. But the non-flesh eating kind. But Hey, they are not trying to run away or being combative anymore.

Micro-doses of lsd have been practiced for awhile now, with positive benefit.

If they go thru all the standard double blind drug trials, can't be any worse than the rest of the crap on the market:
"May cause irritable bowel syndrome, loss of libido, shortness of breath, nausea, headache, dry-mouth, thoughts of suicide, or other side effects... talk to your doctor to see if X is right for you."

Some drugs that could be abused or overdosed on probably got shunned out of fear, and never had a fair shake. Too much of anything can kill you. Moderation is key.

Don't forget the latest disclaimer!
"Don't take X if you are allergic to X."
That one cracks me up always.

As someone who did psilocybin in amsterdam, calling it an addictive, harmful drug is laughable. It was a life altering experience that anyone should have available to them for spiritual exploration or helping resolve mental health issues.

The mindset that illegal drugs are immediately bad for you is brainwashing at its finest. Cigarettes and Alcohol kill many more. Infact I don’t believe it is even possible to OD on most legitimate natural psychedelic’s.

Maybe my generation's drugs weren't so refined. I could sort out who did psychedelic's (mushrooms excluded) by their paranoia level. I'm talking years later. If figure there's some rewiring of the brain that happens. Anyone who says it's all upside, I need lots of scientific proof.

Even marijuana rewires the brain, yet that's becoming legal across the US... All of these shouldn't be used before age 25 without careful dosage and medical oversight. Your brain is still developing up till then. Still changes after that age but more slowly. A childs' brain should almost never be subjected to these drugs, marijuana included.

As it becomes legal, inevitably kids are going to get their hands on it... probably more-so than before. Talk with your kids about the side-effects and emphasize that effects on developing brains are not well understood, and surely ignored by anyone already using.

If caution is employed for adult users, there are likely benefits to some of the schedule 1 drugs. I've heard that micro-dosing one of them was helpful for some things. Put em thru some trials to find out how helpful <-- thing is, no big pharma will stand to make much money on existing drugs, so those trials may never happen.

Marijuana rewires the brain? Come on, half of the worlds rich and elite are on things far harder than that. If you think legalizing psychedelics is going to end the world I have got a bridge to sell you.

It does rewire the brain or at least unlock things, for me it was an experience I had to have by reliving my childhood as vividly as if it were real and forced me to face things I would otherwise keep buried.

They are not recreational drugs despite how people use them. You also need to be in the correct mindset before taking a trip as will be shown things you might not want to see or go through ego death.

Ya 'rewiring' is a useless term unless we are talking tech.

Rewiring your brain means any type of meaningful life experience or it could mean neurotoxicity.

Psychedelics have immense value for things such as depression and relationship therapy. But you really need to be guided by someone experienced and you need to be prepared.

It does.

So does electro-shock therapy.

So does oxygen deprivation and starvation. Sure, an individual can be programmed through repeated stimuli in controlled conditions. This is not what weed does.

I believe when they did MRI studies they found our brains have a default mode network which is formed by life experiences. Psychedelics unlock alternative pathways and light up new brain areas and pathways which allows alternative thinking, expanded thought, ego death etc it is basically like a brain reset. Mostly temporary but sometimes new pathways are formed permanently depending depending your Ego’s hold and your mindset.

I am completely Atheist but experiencing it is something that cannot be described in words not believing in god but a higher level of concussness or plane of existence...

Agreed, a common ingredient in GHB is Floor Stripper, so moderation is key. /s

Didn't get a chance to watch all those yet, but so far they look great.

Shrooms are better to start with due to shorter effects, but nothing beats LSD.
Except coming down with a “sponge brain” effect.

Oh it's a sheet of acid. Haven't seen them all.

Or maybe I have and my spongey brain can't recall. Damn drooled on my keyboard again.
Well that’s what we had going around “back in the day”.
