[H]ardOCP vs Team Anandtech Folding@Home race

Bad cables doomed me. 14 cpus I can’t get online.
And sadly, for F@H, I probably can’t contribute. :(

Dang, that's not good.

Regardless of the outcome, more CPUs means more science getting completed. Hate that you can't get them on.

Gonna get those cables replaced for next round? Your output is super impressive. I think you might have out done fastgeeks best.

I wouldn't worry too much about the FAH thing lopoetve, its a project that hugely favors gpu's a single 1070 gets more than twice the work done as a 32 thread AMD system. I plan to run it only on my GPU's unless the race gets really tight.

Replacements delayed by weather. Arrive... tomorrow.

Wasssup! I'd like to say hello to lopoetve, and Tornlogic. Until a few weeks ago or less, I don't think I've 'met' either of you. lopoetve, damned good run at the WCG 15th bday challenge! Impressive!

I run F@H for TAAT once a year, for December, once for Dec/Jan. I love the idea of it, medical research is by far my favorite to contribute to, silly ass math by far my least favorite, with Astronomy/Physics being the middle ground.

I am looking forward to TAAT getting it's ass kicked in a F@H challenge, finally, please don't disappoint me!

Love you guys as much as alcohol, almost,

Tony.

Less than 24 hours to start time. I'll actually use the December 1st 11:00 UTC (6 AM CST) stats (EOC) as the starting numbers.

Time to ramp up and give both our folding teams a boost! :)

Also, for anyone watching free-dc for stats....

Downtime Saturday Nov 30th while I get a fiber gig connection hooked up.
Will have to change all DNS once complete which will take some time to propagate.

Fingers crossed that no issues with port 80/443 inbound!!

So, I have 2x 1070Ti's, 780, 750Ti, and a 980 Ti (at 60% power limit), as well as 2 virtual CPU's from a VM that is always running FAH. Probably generate more points in a day then I have in 5 years....lol.

The start time is VERY soon, you guys ready? If it has been a while for you, tasks on 10-series Nvidia take 3-6 hours on average, don't wait until the starting gun to start Folding! :)

Really appreciate you guys! Let's have some fun!

Thanks for the reminder Tony!

I've to watch how much to overclock the gpu since I think you get better PPD performance (non linear return and possibly highest PPD per watt occurs as some clock rate beyond default stock setting?)

It will be good if we can share some PPD numbers by project/OS/gpu/CPU/etc as in the overclock.net GPU ppd database during the 1 week challenge. I think the overclocking part of it is what makes folding at home interesting. In BOINC, most of us will just underclock or undervolt the hardware for optimum performance.

Calling all members of the [H]orde. Seems TaaT is kicking our butts so far and we need more firepower to somehow turn this around in the next six days!

Maybe I should toss my GPUs on F@H. Been a while since I last ran F@H.

Turing cards do quite well on F@H. My 2070/2070S dual GPU rig is doing 2.6/2.8 million PPD. A 2080 Ti will do over 2 M PPD.

Just logged in to the forum after being away for years. I saw the spike in production and thought everyone got good black Friday deals on GPUs.

I have a 1080ti and an RX470 running F@H 24x7, unless I'm playing a game.

This time last year, TAAT was averaging about 60M ppd in Folding. We challenged you based on that old data....Seems some have upgraded recently. :D 1.) Sorry to kick your asses, we love you guys! Thought it would be a more fair challenge. 2.) RECRUIT!!!

Admin Markfw is primarily our folding TeAm, 11 of 12 months we just BOINC around at TAAT. I guess the new Nvidia 2000 series owners were not aware until now just how performant those cards can be! (performant, oooooh, I used a new word!)

Day 3 stats. The combined output for both teams is nearly half a billion points. Impressive!

biodoc, fully support the move 110% and thanks!

I only bring one 1080 to this fight. Overclock it at 2.037GHz and seems to be getting close to high 800K PPD avg in linux. FAH really consumes lots of power but at least it is doing useful thing. I usually run my cards with power limit or at reduce voltage ;)

1080 performance thus far:

Hey Horde, didnt see this thread til I dropped in to check on the forum on the 4th. Been a major recession here for a few years now which necessitated a... -er a bunch of lifestyle changes including downsizing to new digs last christmas day of all days to a place where electricity is more expensive and monitored. I can only get away with minimal BOINC on my laptop without being noticed but I've fired up a GTX1070Ti and GTX 1060 6GB both OC'd over 2 GHz for the rest of the challenge. Jeez its warm in here all of a sudden ...

Isn't it a good thing that you didn't get "cut"?

Oh, wait, you're talking about the team name not getting selected, nevermind...

Day 5 stats: [H] is pulling into a clear lead. Watch those panthers though. At least one has been holding back hardware.
