Foot steps were far too loud. It was disorienting to hear them. Sounds like they were next to you but they were actually on the ground, inside a building. Good move.

Haven't played in about a week. Games were just so inconsistent but may give it another go.

Everyone still having a decent time?

I'm enjoying Gun Game. I do my usual rotation of six last place finishes then a second place finish. My other games now have one or two people reverse boosting so a 6v6 game becomes 4v6. Big reason why I've stuck with Gun Game. Also does a decent job at leveling guns since I have no idea what to use anymore. I get smoked every round as it is.

Not sure why I find this game so addictive. I suck so bad at it. hehe

Gun game and realism is all I really play.

Ground War is way too chaotic for me. I do okay in the mode, but I just don't enjoy a mode that feels like an over kill of jets, tanks, explosions and snipers in such small radius/timeframe. Maybe I'm just growing out first person shooters, I don't know.

Yea, the kill streaks make me stick with Gun Game as well. Gets to the point I can't leave a building without some jet or missile taking me out.

I've tried a handful of other games to get into, but for whatever reason I go back to thinking I can do better.

Dopamine ftw?

Mics barely work too. We keep asking each other before each round, then it goes dead. No one talks. Following round we all check again.

I play Gunfight exclusively since hitting max level and getting gold on the MK2.

The matching system swings wildly to keep you humble but this mode is the best.

Anyone notice how sensitive this game is with overclocks with Navi.

Clocks that I can run with firestrike ultra crash the game before game play even starts.

People are taking advantage of the SBMM system to grind ops easier, which is what is causing the swings. Instead of averaging out a player's skill over a period of actual time, they are simply doing it over 10-20 matches, so you can purposefully tank your performance over a relatively short period of time to be matched with really low-skill players.

I had to uninstall. I'll wait a while before reinstalling. I had to do it, I would find myself playing and regretting my decision. I'm not sure the game is for me. The last COD I bought was black ops. I should have known better. I'm too afraid to do dispute the charge because I play overwatch and don't want them to ban my battle.net account.

What is the point of that? So you blow out some lower teams, then you get moved up to better teams?

I also don't get the point of XP once you hit 155 - there are a bunch of officer challenges and each one gives you XP, but so what? The prestige system at least gave you something to work for and new challenges when you relock most weapons.

Edit:

Ok, I did a little reading on Reddit about SBMM and reverse boosting. People want to get in the lower levels so they can lay waste to the noobs.

I'm probably just going to go back to Apex Legends. This game is kind of anti social.

Man, I'm right there too. I'll load up a game, hit last place for seven rounds, then get second place on another, then last place for another ten. TDM and the others suck now too because you have two "teammates" just shooting rockets at the ground to drop their KD. That, or I can't leave a building without a VTOL overhead just smashing my shit in. I'll fire off eight rounds but the kill cam only shows two. Three shots with the marksman rifle and nothing happens despite being clear head shots. Forget Ground War. I'm dead before I even get a chance to know what is happening.

I don't if I'm just too old for this shit. This is the first time I've ever played a COD. I did a Battlefield games years and years ago. Kind of the same routine there too. I was just never good at MP-FPS games. Single player I'm totally fine. But against other players, it always seems like some shots never register, I question the authenticity of other player's "skills", or I'm getting called all these awesome words by some 12 year old hopped up on Mt Dew and Adderall. Totally kills the experience for me.

That being said, MP-FPS companies certainly have their formula down. I get home, try a couple different games, and go right back to COD to see if perhaps I get a decent round in. Next thing I know, its two hours later, I haven't had a single positive KD, my heart rate is up, I'm frustrated, and I just want a freaking win. You can tell they've done their studies on gambling addiction and dopamine feeds.

I've been poking around for something else myself. I'm about 66% through Farcry 5 which I guess I should finish. From there I have a couple other options. Witcher 3 has been suggested to me many, many times. I'd like to do RDR2, but for PC it seems a bit wonky at the moment.

Those all look good, but I just can't play single player games. I feel like a rat in a maze - the multi player aspect adds a level of chaos and unpredictability that I need to keep my interest.

I enjoyed Black Ops 4 for the first 3-5 months until the monetization and season pass kicked in hard, then I lost interest - but that game always felt consistently challenging where as COD is churning and thrashing people from low tier to high tier and you never feel like the matchmaking is consistent. Random matchmaking feels more consistent than the current system.

Another wrench in my operation is having a toddler. Being able to hit "pause" and stop what I'm doing is something that I could really use.

That being said, I don't have the time or resources to join clans/guilds anymore. So in multiplayer games I'm all alone. And with that, its all competitive. No one really seems to play for fun. Its all to outplay, beat the other guy, troll, and make everyone else's experience as miserable as you can. I miss the days of logging into World of Warcraft on Sun/Mon/Wed from 4 to 10 and messing around. Weren't all go-go-go yelling at meters and rotations. Uploading logs and comparing numbers. Its too overboard now.

Is realism back?

Haven't touched this in over a week, recent update is download at 500 KB/S. Down from around 45 MB/S. 20GB update. Same for everyone else?

Been giving all modes another go this last week.

Absolutely destroying today.

On a 13 win streak, 10 of those from gun fight.

I suppose it just takes time to get used to the mechanics.

That's normal for demanding games... Synthetic tests often allow for higher clocks than are stable in actual gaming.

I have Battlefield 1 and 5, and COD: Modern Warfare. I continue to play BF1. I do not like BF5 nor COD:MW.

This game literally causes my router and internet to stop any and all internet activity for about 10 to 15 minutes at times.

Could be three hours after I log on, or right as soon as I try to connect to the multiplayer portion of the game.

Very odd.

Apparently, this is happening to many players who have Spectrum internet like myself.

Has anyone on here experienced this?

I've already changed out modems with Charter, and it's not changed any thing.

No other game even remotely does this.

Literally, my whole network is down once or twice a day if I play this game.

It's literally inevitable.

Hah, I'm on Spectrum and my games would be 250ms+ for the first 5m, then it settled back down to 70ish. Every game. So by the time the game was pretty well established, I have been playing at 250ms with a .3 KD.

New (retro) map Crash is fun, but I’m getting my ass handed to me tonight. Maybe SBMM benefits me :D

Damn I had this map in the rotation but my setting were off so I had to exit haven't tired it. Infinity Ward's version of Noshahr Cannals.
Maybe not just a old MW map that they used doesn't look the same even.

The update is fine as far as the new stuff... but they took out a bunch of crap including gun house, and limited modes to 10 minutes.....

Pretty disappointing.

You guys aren't playing the game the way we want you to!

Didn't know this game was cross platform, not sure how I feel about that.

Not good. Seems like sometimes, console auto aim is very cheap. Or introduces some odd lag. I played a bit a week ago and it seemed better. Instead of screwing around with game modes and making new ones, they need to focus on the core modes and stop shuffling them around. That way each (good) mode will be populated.

TDM. Warfare. Gun fight. Realism TDM. Maybe one or two of the other modes. Rest are junk and will be dead even if they try and force it on players.

i think it’s awesome. It never seems particularly unbalanced to me (auto-aim) and there’s a ton of players so all game modes stay populated. It should extend the life on the PC platform. The one downside I’ve seen is there are more dipshits screaming profanities and racism over their mics, but that might be due to more people using mics rather than a reflection of the quality of the playerbases.

Once I got it installed I played for about 3 hours (mp only) and made it to level 16. I guess I haven't played enough to determine whether auto-aim on console vs superior aim control with a mouse makes a very big difference either way. I'm definitely happy that I was able to dive in and at least be able to compete, I've only used the first rifle so far (forget what it's called).

Are the mics muted by default? I've seen the mic indicator next to player names flash or whatever but haven't heard anything, so far I'm ok with that, not like you're going to communicate effective strategy on COD matchmaking lol.

I am happy to report that so far I'm enjoying the game though. I swore off COD a looong time ago but I just really needed a casual fps in my life.

You can thankfully disable mic volume in the main menu. I do this by default for all games. CoD is really too fast paced for communication anyways, unless you're playing with friends. Maybe in Warfare it works. That map does look like Noshar Canals (spelling) so I would like to try it.
