Lian Li XL for me but I can't find the damn case for sell anywhere since release!

You're gonna stick a 280w cpu into a small case? On air? Imo, that's not a good combo.

Evolv X would be a pretty poor case choice for that imo it is not very strong in the way of cooling.

I agree with the sentiments here. Small cases and CPU's that can pull over 250w of power aren't a good mix for air cooling.

Either the Evolv X or the P600S is fine. Front 3 x 140mm intake, top 2 x 140mm exhaust, rear 1 x 140mm exhaust, Dark Rock Pro TR4. You will be fine. You don't need water for this but you do need a TR4 specific cooler -- covering the full heat spreader is absolutely vital. kitguru tested this one with a 2990WX and with all cores under load it kept the beast at 65C https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/be_quiet_dark_rock_pro_tr4_review,10.html

You can start with a 2 - 2 fan setup and see whether it's enough. Strong enough fans might be.

I have the dynamic 011 xl and the 3970x, even with 7 fans plus two on the noctua SP3/TR CPU cooler, with stock settings it still gets really hot. It's a bit better with the case window open. I'll probably switch it to a custom loop with the distro block.

AMD doesn't provide a fan for its 3950X and recommends water cooling with that. I wouldn't have even attempted to run a CPU with twice that many cores and threads on air cooling.

Yeah, I just went with air cause I plan on doing a custom loop and a lot of the parts like the xl distro plate are out of stock. Didn't want to hold up the build an extra month or two.
