Destiny 2

Well I made a post on Reddit seeking some direction. I've about 4 pages of Quests and was feeling a little lost and ovetwhelmed. Got some good info / direction, and a couple of offers to squad up. Ended up in a Fireteam with an experienced Clan that ran me through the quest to get the Worm-something Sniper Rifle. Then we did one of the Raids, the one most people do first they said. Still largely lost as to all the steps that requires, but learned a few things and got a couple more Exotics.

After all that I hopped back in to Comp, and between wins and losses, ended up around 1100 Glory (up from 700). Match-making is such a crap shoot in this game, but I got a couple of decent teams. Bungie's hatred of left handers on PC is still an on-going struggle, but I'm starting to get the muscle memory of these old hands retrained. I'll be glad when I never have to be forced into PvP again.

I can relate to so much of this, especially after hopping in after being afk for about a year . It's so nice to see pvp alternatives, though. Gambit is quite fun, especially because it doesn't force you into pvp directly.

Bungie will never not “force” you into PvP unfortunately. All the way back to Year 1 Destiny 1 there were weapon quests requiring PvP. Mostly Handcannons.

Good tips in here. Going to have to re-attempt this maybe this weekend. Getting Hive Armaments, Invigoration, Repurposing and Barrier from Menagerie should be super helpful.

I'm roughly 500 points away from the Recluse, provided I don't lose any matches. I'm excited, and I'm nervous I'm going to have a bad stretch. I cannot wait until this is over.

Question: is there any where to farm upgrade modules, or can we only buy them from Banshee?

If you lose two games in a row, take a break and come back later.

As for the upgrade modules, Ordeal Nightfalls are your best bet just make sure to kill all the champions.

Remember you get points during the following reset too if you play at least 3 games I believe it is. So if you win 1 or 2 more, you should be right there. I know I got to like 1900 and took a break for dinner and told myself I was gonna wait 4 days or so for reset. I think got impatient about 1 hour later and said "Eh, I'll play 1 match" and some dude with Revoker absolutely carried us lol. That match sticks out like a sore thumb to me. It was on my least favorite map and I was completely shut down. At that point I just backed off and let the other guy do the work rather than cost us all the deaths.

I only got 1 match in today. Apparantly the server will still start a Comp match even though it is 2v3. After my teammate ran straight into the 3 of them and immediately got killed, I bailed. I had bailed once yesterday too, after one of my squad bailed and the other one was doing the same thing. Learned that if you bail out of two or more Comp matches in a week you get a temporary ban. Why do they still penalize us when teams are uneven and/or they are quitting match? Seems the system needs some work.

In any respect, looks like I'm taking a break whether I like it or not. Worked on some Strikes instead.

ya when it comes to comp just never quit lol. if you want just find the nearest ledge and go for a walk to speed things up. Also check out the lfg thing on bungies site, thats how I managed my last bit from 1700-2100, found a group willing to help me out and it was so much easier (got the last 500 points in 45 minutes)

I don't want to quit, as I said before, I've 1v3 before trying to make the best of it after my team quit, but when you're setup to fail from the beginning I'm not going to just lay down and be run over. Its not been a good week at home or work and I'm letting it get me too worked up. I'm going to find something else to dofor a couple days until I can recoup some sleep.

I've tried LFG hoping for the same thing. Registered, linked my Steam account... but I still cannot post in any of the Text Chats for whatever reason. There doesn't seem to be any support available for help, or I'm just blind. Either way, I'm done for the week. Games are supposed to be a "recreation". This has been anything but steess relieving.

Have you tried the official bungie lfg site? For pc I seem to have the best luck there, hopefully you get it soon.

Good suggestion. I did find those while trying to troubleshoot my LFG issue. I will give them a try after work.

I managed to get 300 points away, should have quit then, but I was so close I couldn't let it go. Now I need 500. 500pts too Recluse.

On the upside, I went and did some Strikes & Gambit and got the catalyst for Sturm to drop. Not sure I'll ever use it, but it was something.

What's your steam ID? I'll add you and next time I'm in I'll try and help ya, no promises you will do any better though lol

On the pvp note I'm now finished my iron banner bounties, got 3 new 952 pieces and 1 953 lol. And now that I'm more accustomed to my recluse, my God this thing definitely needs the Nerf. It's good without master of arms but I'm winning engagements with 30% health against full health enemies because of I have moa active and it's so disgusting and fun lol. Managed to hold a point against 4 guys (trickled in over 10 seconds) and came out on top, I've never felt more OP. I think I should try my Titan with one eyed mask to really complete the set

Frraksurred, same as here. And thanks, be fun just to squad up with someone frankly. My hours make that a rare occasion however, so chances are we won't cross paths much.

So far as the Recluse is concerned, glad you're having fun. My Nezoric's Sin Void Walker Devour build has a perfectly Recluse sized whole in it I'd love to fill. Looking forward to maybe getting that done this weekend.

I have been grinding away at Randy's for a while. I was never really a fan of scout rifles for PVP but the Jade Rabbit has been working pretty well for me.

Shame you missed Momentum Control. Jade Rabbit one tapped to the head and it was super easy.

I just deleted the Recluse quest. Never getting the last few hundred points for fabled 1 and the resultant frustration was just getting too high. I'm never playing another game in the Comp playlist again.

aww man :( how close were you? It gets super frusttrating for sure, like I said I only won 1/5 matches but with it only taking 10 points away per loss and giving me 200-300 per win It did finally happen

I got to Heroic 3. I was getting +60 for a win and -52 for a loss trying to get that last 475 from Heroic 3 to Fabled 1. At 50/50 win/loss that's only +8 points per each 2 games, and if you lose a couple in a row you're back at the beginning of the sub-rank. I got sick of the stress after awhile. It actually feels kind of good to not have to face any more solo comp. I was winning more than 1/5 (closer to 50%) and still getting the +60/-52. I ranked up pretty fast to Heroic 3, then the game switched me to the way it was prior to Shadowkeep pointswise.

I have no idea why I was getting so many more per win and so little per loss?

The game figured your proper skill/rank was Fabled 1 or better, so it boosted you along. It did that for me until I got to Heroic 3. In actuality I'm sure my skill in comp isn't deserving of Fabled 1, but I got kind of optimistic with the rapid progress to Heroic 3, when the brakes got slammed on. I really can't claim I'm deserving of Fabled 1, so that's life. I got to where I dreaded needing to play in solo comp, I had to force myself to do it.

After having fun and doing pretty well in IB with quite a few games played, I figured I was ready to try solo comp again...brutal reality set in quickly, LOL.

Saw another couple of entertaining names today:

I was right there with you. Frustrated as I could get. Game estimated my skill level around Fabled I'm guessing, and wanted to keep me there. The last 400 points were just not happening. I ended up on Discord's LFG channel looking for help to carry me. Had to wait for a bit, but had a couple guys see me through. Still took longer than I expected, but got it done in a couple hours (needed 500 pts). They were basically doing 2v3, because I was no help against the guys it was matching us with. My job was just "don't die". So I mostly hid, threw up healing rifts, and tossed nades at the heavy spawn.

I am however, finally, the proud owner of the Recluse. I love it, not to rub it in. With Nezerics Sin, I get my nades and Super back MUCH faster using it, and it melts most things at close range.

My advise, take a break for the week. Next week you should get a boost for not playing Crucible. Check Bungie.net Community page for a carry group, or search for the Destiny LFG group on Discord, find the PvP section and post that you're looking for a Carry to Recluse. You won't be much help, so maybe choose a support build and hang back - throw heals at your team. It can be a pain, but once its done, its done. And its worth it imo.

Great! Now, throw two Breach Refractors on + anti-barrier on the Recluse and watch your nades come back in 4-5 kills. Its nuts, even with under 5 disc.

Way ahead of you bro, but solid advice nonetheless. You still have to unequip the chest piece before the game will allow you to put 2 BR mods on it, but they help immensely. 6 kills and I have my nade back. Haven't timed the Super refresh yet, but if I'm in an event with lots of add clearing, it feels like barely over a minute.

The one thing I do still need is a SMG Ammo Finder mod. At 900 rpm, I feel like I have to hunt for ammo way too often.

EDIT: This is the build I tried to emulate:

Haha yeah Ehroar always has the best Warlock builds.

As for mods, specifically Enhanced mods, Iron Banner was the best way to acquire them. It's up for today and tomorrow so if you can stand more PVP, it's highly suggested.

IB is completely different than the stress from Comp. I tend to love IB, not only for the pinnacle loot on my 3 toons, but it's generally a lot of fun. I've been pretty lucky filling in the holes in my mod collection with IB token turn-ins.

Just jumped back in and working on the Lumina quest, anyone know where to farm the light orbs quickly? I did some at the EDZ but the cycle of enemies take a long break after you finish the fight right outside the vendor. Anyone have a better spott with a constant number of enemies? So far I have 30 of 250 light orbs.

Leviathan raid, get into the Castellum and trigger the first encounter and the cabal will spawn endlessly. Some masterwork weapons and a well used supers should make quick work of that step.

Finally finished getting my Randy’s yesterday. I haven’t really used a Scout Rifle in a very long time, I’m enjoying it a lot actually. Very high fire rate and decent impact. Did a gambit prime invasion with it and killed all 4 with Randy’s. And it pairs nicely with Recluse I think.

Probably the last crucible weapon I’ll get. I am terminally incapable of getting consistent sniper kills(Revoker) and I’ve yet to see a Calculated Trajectory medal(Mountaintop). I might be able to get Lunas but that would require me to willing go into Comp.

I am in the same boat. I did really well in IB and figured it was time for comp grind after clearing IB bounties.

There is no way I will be getting a Recluse.... lol

A masterworked SMG (Recluse, if you have it) and start Escalation Protocol. Start Wave 1's and just mow everything down. Rinse and repeat.

With Recluse this took a trivial amount of time, we're talking minutes but any fully masterworked SMG capable of mowing down redbar ads quickly is the way to go.

If you're comfortable with the Whisper mission, the thrall room is also ideal.

Castellum in Leviathan is.. alright.. but the amount of tankier enemies in there along with the shields make that a more troublesome method.

With a masterwork SMG or Auto equip anti barrier rounds and the Phalanx are less of an issue, and if you hang at the entrance you only get red bar legionaries and phalanx.

I just find it a bit easier than EP because even in EP I feel the waves of enemies have lulls in them or thralls with bad path finding. There’s also the fact that lots of people these days seem to be jumping into EP if you start it up.

Totally forgot about EP....yea i haven zero master worked weapons.....I haven't gone to deep into a whole lot. I still haven't even fired up all of the forges. I'm slow going at it, but the EP is definitely a good point to start.

Well keep in mind, orb generation is directly tied to masterworked weapons so if you have something good you use all the time that can mow down red bars, masterwork it.

Gah, I'm still working on Forges too. My quest log was full and it wasn't until I started sifting through the accomplishments that I noticed I hadn't done the Forsaken campaign yet. I'd heard about Forges but was clueless before this.

I caught a phenomenal group last night and finished the orb generation leg of the quest. It was a great group of like 5 or 6 of us. We ran EP level 6 and 7 like 5-6 times, and I actually got the ikelos_SMG to drop as well. That weapon is fantastic for what I have right now, I was mowing guys down left and right after that. Thanks for the advice!
