Guys,

Totally baffled here, can not figure this out. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, verified game files through steam.

On the latest nvidia drivers, setup plays every other game installed flawlessly ( pubg/overwatch/apex lengends etc etc ) but will not boot up CS:GO. WTF?

It shows steam running the game but doesn't go full screen. As soon as i click on the games icon from task bar, i get a full white screen that's just stuck there. I touch a key or click a mouse, it hard crashes with a windows error.

New setup

Win 10 pro *latest updates*
i7 9700k
16GB RAM @ 3200mhz
GTX 2070 Super
1TB Intel Optane NVME SSD

Any ideas that im missing??

Find and delete the config file for CS:GO and any custom ones you may have made, see if that helps.

I’ll try that. I’ve made no custom ones though. Haven’t even launched the game properly yet.
I've noticed on some games the cloud service we backup config files, and this can break things if you've used older hardware. Most notable example of this in my case was Amnesia. I had originally been playing the game on a GTX 570 when I upgraded to a GTX 780 with a new Windows installation, and Steam downloaded the config files along with the game saves. The game would crash every time I tried to start it. I found the log file and it showed a bunch of GL errors which led me to the idea of deleting the config file.

Have you tried a different display driver? Did you try compatibility mode?

Trying launch the game from the .exe instead of the steam shortcut

I have not tried a different display driver and I’m currently on the very latest nvidia drivers.

it didn’t work on the prior released drivers either.

I have not tried to run it through the .exe but why the hell am I needing to jump through these hoops on a brand spanking new build. Mind boggling considering every other title works just fine.

I just again uninstalled and reinstalled the game for the 2nd time, still the same.

Did you try turning of overclocks? I could not play destiny 2 on my 7820X at default bios settings, I had to downclock my CPU in order for it to stop crashing.

Just because its a new build doesn't mean you wont have problems and it will run exactly like your previous build. Try those steps I mentioned and see if any of it works.

Also, when you put together your new build, did you format your Hard Drive & Reinstall Windows?

It could be that its trying to work off old dependencies if you didn't.

Use command lines to force a resolution and refresh rate. This has happened to me before.
For example:
-w 1920 -h 1080 -refresh 144
Replace those numbers with your native resolution.

new machine, ancient game. try what krenum suggested and also make sure you install any support files that might be in the "redist" folder inside the install dir.

As of right now, no overclock on anything ( cpu/gpu )

It was built from scratch on a fresh nvme ssd. Also, like I mentioned earlier, it runs PUBG/Overwatch/Apex Legends/R6 Siege/COD MW with zero issues at all.

I will do that tonight when I get home from work and report back. Super weird, never had this issue ever.

Good advice, didn't think of a refresh rate issue, could explain the video anomalies you are experiencing.

Wow, still not working. Just tried the refresh rate stuff in game options, no go. Still getting the no response from csgo.exe

Unbelievable

Is Windows Defender blocking it for some reason? or is something in Windows Firewall maybe blocking it?

No I dont think so, i havent made any changes to the default windows defender stuff at all. Steam shows it running, black screen comes up. The moment i press any key or mouse click, screen turns white and says windows csgo.exe is not respoding. Hard crash to desktop.

Games that access the network will make Windows pop up a window in the background asking if you want to give the program permission to the network when launched the first time. Most modern games don't have an issue with it because they handle losing focus well. Counter-Strike GO does not handle losing focus well. Maybe that is what is happening. Try running the game with the windowed command line switch and see if that is what it is.

Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\wbem\ and change the name of fastprox.dll to fastprox.dllold then try running Csgo again.

the file may also be located in C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW64\WBEM

did you forget to let it install direct X and related packs, possibly needing admin privileges?

Thank you, will try that also.

no, for sure installed all those required at first attempted start up. It’s just so weird that’s it’s only this game acting up and everything else is flawless across origin, epic games launcher, Uplay and steam
