Ford Mustang Mach E Leak: Mustang goes Electric

I want a Tesla 3 performance awd just for the power. I dont care about green. I know how much destruction to Earth was done to harvest and process that Lithium and Colbalt. I guess no more or less than petroleum. Thus buying a EV isn't green at all. Gotta burn more coal at the plant to charge the damn thing.

03 04. Great years

“The Terminator”

"The Terminator" wasn't the MACH 1. For the record.

"The Terminator" was the 03/04 Cobra.

Wasn't sure if you were implying the Mach 1 was the termi or if you were just adding onto what was great about the 03/04 years for the Mustang as the Mach 1 was an impressive model in the lineup as well. 4V FTW

I own a terminator. Embarrassed the shit out of gm by beating their vette those years with a simple pulley change on the blower.

The glory days of the KB 'stang. That's when I started watching street racing on YT and streetfire.. Only one of them still exists.

Having a supercharger on a Mustang doesn't make any GM look bad by any means. I consider turbos and superchargers as a cheat for big power, as any engine with these on will make insane power. You can get a Corvette with a LS1 to put out 500hp without any blower. Longtube headers, loopy cam+valve springs, better intake, and a reprogrammed ECM will easily reach 500 hp. While not as easy as changing a pulley on your Terminator, most Vettes that get these upgrades will get 40 mpg on the highway while that Termiantor won't even get close.

Funny, sorry for cheating with my blower. : D
I'm on shorty headers so it doesn't sound like a truck, but a ported blower with a pulley screams pretty good on boost at 16 pounds. I'll take off and people will blow their horn at me because that's what they think the blower whine is. LOL
Trust me - the LAST thing I care about is Gas Mileage. 20MPG foot off, 7 MPG with my foot to the floor.
But, hey - at least you're not burning rice.

Yeah, pulley swap netted me 525hp and a blower swap will net you 1000hp.

You did more than switch pullies to gain 525hp unless you mean 525 crank hp. That may be plasuable.

500hp termis needed ported blowers to achieve those numbers.

Yeah it's ported. My bad. Pully only is high 400s. I forgot!!

I had a steggy ported temi also with a little over 600 hp.

Granted, I had an aluminum block with higher compression over the stock iron block.
98 Cobra cams
Steggy snakebite (I think it was called snakebite) ported blower (it was above the stage 5)
full exhaust
accufab single blade throttle body
lower/upper pulley (can't remember the exact sizes, but I believe the lower was 10# and the upper was 1.76? maybe?)

Been a LONG time since I owned that car. I sure do miss it.

Sounds pretty sweet.. can't believe u got rid of it!!

Mine is a Posi Port. 4# lower 2.80" upper. 16.5# of boost. Dragon Throttle body.. JBA shorty headers.. There's more, but those are the HP mods.

I think I was closer to around 20# of boost. The increased compression ratio gave me more "boost" compared to what pulley combination I was using.

She was fun to drive, that's for sure. Had to sell her because I had two vehicles and moved to a new State to start a new job. So I needed the money + couldn't reasonably take two vehicles with me.

With that 10# lower sounds about right. Sux when reason gets in the way of fun. I've kept my garage a one pony show to manage.

Is ford going to keep making the 2 door gas mustang?

Since Ford agreed to the California emission and mileage regulations voluntarily then it likely has a few more years left before it gets discontinued.

A pulley change and tune update is $500 at most. Long tubes, cams, valve springs, intake, and tune is at least double that, if not triple.

Sports cars are too small. Need to repackage into something useful.

I mean what's next, Lamborghini making an SUV expressly meant for the private sector.....oh wait what's this!

Beginning of the end for muscle cars.

Not really. Tesla's first electric car was the Roadster, and it rivals Ferraris in performance. Insane acceleration. I got to drive one, and you hit that gas and it just goes... so weird no gear shifting, just constant acceleration. EV (Sports Cars) can outperform your favorite gasoline engine fantasy car.

On all the environmental points, firstly EV's are 85% or better efficiency in putting energy into vehicle motion. Gasoline vehicles are what 25% efficient? And that with improvements from the last decade as prior to that it was lower. Most of the energy is expended as heat out the tailpipe, along with environmental pollutants. EV batteries can be recycled at end of life. Anyone telling you EV's are "worse" polluting (Look at the battery manufacturing! Mining lithium out of the ground!!?! Waste products! It's running on coal produced electricity!) are reading reports commissioned by big oil companies. "Are your sources unbiased that EV's are cleaner??? I mean look what this report here says..." Put your money where your mouth is and check for bias in everything you read.

Sport SUVs are not replacements for sport coupes. Not all of us are constantly hauling groceries for a large family, luggage, kids and their friends, or anything that would necessitate such a large vehicle.

High center of gravity means an suv will never compete truly with a coupe.

In insane mode a Tesla can hold with the fastest cars, problem is after one short run it has to cool off before it can do it again, while those gas powered vehicles do not. As the owner of a Hellcat Challenger and I also have driven a Tesla, I much prefer the Hellcat as I like hearing the engine. Plus you have to deal with the degradation of the battery packs on all electric vehicles and that can be quite expensive to deal with.

As for your second part I am not sure why you felt the need to post that, this isn't the Sierra club social hour.

Not to mention the effects of weather. My state is winter for half the year. Excuse me if I'm biased against EVs.

I'm curious how tesla's are going to hold up long term. I want to see one after 10 years and 120k miles.

I dunno about anyone else but these "SUVs" aren't really SUVish. They are much closer to the crossover. It doesn't really have any features that are associated with them.

I just don't see a competent fuel replacement any time soon. We might as well start figuring out how to efficiently synthesize it from CO2. Assuming what I've read is correct in that we can do that.

Best short term solution to green energy I can see is solar panels on individual homes/businesses to supplement grid power and the have nuclear with gas peakers. But I'm just and uneducated drooling tard according to the greenies. Or just gas powered plants but gas is eventually gonna go back up in price.. whenever that is.

To be fair, if Solid State batteries actually become a thing based off the lab tests being done with them gas powered vehicles are going away.

They are talking about 600 miles on the smallest batteries and up to 1500 mile trips on Tesla size batteries. If that’s even remotely possible it kills fuel injection vehicles across the board. Figure 2029 or so SSBs become mainstream which by then electric vehicles would have gotten to the point where the only thing preventing them from being entry level are SSBs.

*yes I got my information from Joe Scott .

Those are pipe dream numbers. But the EV revolution is here now and gaining momentum.

50 years from now people will be telling their wide-eyed, unbelieving grandkids that they used to control transportation themselves with hand and foot controls, and that they were powered by flammable gas explosions.

Wasn't there a movie with Adam Sandler where some guy was trying to make an electric mustang sound like a real mustang?

If that comes true.. thank god I wont be around for it.

That thing is an insult to a muscle car if ya ask me.

If I had the money to buy that I'd be looking for a real muscle car.

Not for me.
