Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

What do you mean blew up? My XB360 wireless adapter stopped working, but I ordered a resistor then removed and resoldered a new one back and it is working fine again (but I use a PS4 controller normally).
Here is the link in case you want to try it: https://replayproject.wordpress.com/2010/10/09/how-to-repair-microsoft-xbox-360™-wireless-gaming-receiver-for-windows®/
FYI I recommend getting a resistor rather than the quick fix they use for safety. If you buy the resistor, just a warning, they are TINY. I HIGHLY recommend you buy at least 2, if you sneeze, it will disappear lol (personal experience I lost one of the 2 I bought).
blew up as in it made a popping noise and no longer works. its probably what youre describing but ive already upgraded to xb1 controller and receiver.

Isn't the regular adapter a lot more reliable than using Bluetooth on the pc though?
Well not connected directly to my PC, I use an Xbox one controller over Bluetooth to my Android tv box and then remote stream games from my gaming PC to my TV and it works very well. The Bluetooth has never cut out or gave me issues compared to my older Xbox 360 + adapter I use.

Honestly, the Xbox One controller is such a huge upgrade in so many ways that I would just bite the bullet and move on. The newer Xbox One controllers are bluetooth now as well instead of whatever proprietary RF they were before which required an adapter. So if you already have bluetooth on your setup you won't need to buy an adapter.

I've got them. I do have an XBOX ONE, but no wireless adapter for the PC. So, I plugged it in via USB and that's working. I have to get used to the controls though. I forgot how much I hate camera movement via the thumbstick. Combat is easier this way though.

EDIT: I bought a wireless adapter for the PC. It makes things so much nicer.

I have no idea how far through the game i'm at this point. It's at least half way, likely greater, and i'm sitting at 10 hours currently.

It's so far been a great game, and i'd have to say it's the best Star Wars game to come out in a very long time.

I do wish it had a bit more sophistication in the skills/gameplay like Jedi Outcast/Academy, but at the very least it's still a solid game.

The game makes extensive use of various baked in lightning sources, adding in global illumination after the fact will just conflict with everything and very likely blow everything out.

Normally, RTX looks better than that. I'm guessing the support in this case is half-assed at best.

It's not RTX. Its a reshade shader that hacks in GI to games. Its basically placing GI on top of the game's built in lighting.

This game reminds me alot of Darksiders 3... just star wars themed.. That's not a bad thing either DS3 was very good..

I've been watching my wife play since midnight Thursday Friday and a really big MEH!

Same old repetitive. Kill these 2 spiders, swing on this rope. Here's some canned responses from some storm troopers which you easily defeat. I mean the point of a a game is to take you away from reality and...HAVE FUN. This game does none of those things. Even if it were $9.99. Knowing what I know now I would think hmmm (6 pack of beer or this game), and I would buy the beer.

Completely disagree. It's not a perfect game, but if you crank up the difficulty it gives a challenge and is pretty entertaining. The graphics & sound are top notch as well along with great use of the original Star Wars score throughout.

This is the best Star Wars game we've had in a very long time, probably the first decent one ever since EA took the Star Wars deal.

I wouldn't buy it at full price, but for the price of a month of Origin Premier it's well worth it.

Hopefully this game is somewhat successful so we can get some future games from EA that are a bit more complex moving forward.

Why is that even being called RTX?
It shouldn't be. It's a ReShade filter enabling global illumination. Read the description of the video. NVIDIA should really clamp down on the modder freely using their trademark to avoid confusion like this.

STAR WARS Jedi Fallen Order Graphics MOD - Ray Tracing enabled with Marty McFly ReShade Ray Tracing shader. RTX on - global illumination effect and bloom added.

Got the game with Origin Premier, for $15 bucks it hits my fair price target (spent 15 hours on the campaign).
KB/mouse controls are pretty bad, my fingers are not flexible enough to hit Z and something else. Should've probably remapped it to Q to something.

Wasted couple hours overthinking some puzzles instead of leaving and then coming back later with new skills acquired.

Was wondering why it looked like ass, totally misleading to use Nvidia's trademark in that fashion.

Picked this up on Saturday and am having a good time with it thus far. It's a little like Sekiro crossed with Uncharted thus far. I just completed the first area...or at least what I can complete thus far. On the harder difficulties it's pretty tough. That one bullfrog type boss is unforgiving and can instakill you in many situations. Like Sekiro, it favors the approach of parrying rather than dodging, which never seems to travel quite far enough.
Graphics are pretty terrific. Some area bog down a little (I have things maxed out), but I'm pulling 60fps in 4K about 85-90% of the time.

Any game that wasn't built from the ground up for global illumination will generally look worse when you add GI - Raytraced or not. There are fixed/baked in lightsources that are part of the map design, so adding GI after the fact will just blow everything out typically.

I thoroughly enjoyed my play-through. Took me about 25 hours to get "most" of the secrets. I didn't to to every area. The reason for this was because I was very much enjoying the narrative once the game started rolling. I am very happy that, for once in a long damn time the Star Wars universe has added new personalities to the universe that aren't directly tied to the original characters or the new ones. I would love the success of this and the Mandalorian to see a resurgence in the development of 1313.

The story in this game should make any die hard Star Wars fan proud. I felt the story. Couldn't get enough of it. Combat feels powerful, though I did take some issue with combat with higher level enemies seeming to be almost too difficult given a lightsaber is theoretically a vorpal weapon. Jedi hunters are just a pain in the ass, however, I truly enjoyed the moments where I was able to instantly push them off cliff faces and ledges (kind of wish I would have heard death screams... would have added to the satisfaction).

So far, my favorite moments in the game have been when you have the unexpected bounty hunter fights. The two occasions so far I was caught completely off guard.

You know, that was an incredible part of the game. Running into them when I least expected, often in areas I revisited and expecting a monster instead.

This has only happened to me a couple of times, but I enjoyed it each time.
Yeah, I think if it had happened more it would have been forced. The way it happened to me made me feel like I was being ambushed at least on one occasion.
I was also really entertained by the Gladiatorial Arena sequence. The areas I recall the ambushes are: Bogano: In an area that once housed a monster, that one caught me off guard. Dathomir, a pair is guarding the entrance to one of the Tombs. The Droid under <I totally forgot... It's not Illum>? I forget if that's right (that triggers the Gladiatorial Arena)

Damn, game sounds good. Might buy it to show support for Respawn. Fuck Bioware and DICE, though.
I have to admit, I played the entire game on the controller I picked up to play Anthem. It was an Amazon Essentials XBox One USB controller. I would have been swearing a lot more on a KB/M. Don't get me wrong, that is playable but there are so many lightsaber moves (that are totally badass, BTW) that I couldn't even imagine controlling / triggering them all on KB/M. The controller handles it based on various lightsaber "forms".

FYI - I think there is a shitload of potential here in this game for several expansions.

So.... You start with a busted up double bladed saber, only able to use one end. You re-forge it into a dual bladed saber, and it's sick (incredibly cool) how amazing you become at crowd control. One of my favorite, simple maneuvers is to engage everyone around me in melee whirling the saber above my head and then releasing it in a (you throw it) spinning circle of death around your character.

So, how the forms work is dependent upon if you are in Single Bladed Style or Dual Bladed. Each style has it's advantages. You will chain buttons together to pull off attacks or combine left / right bumper plus X, Y, etc. The same Combo of Left Bumper + X on Single Style is not the same attack in Double Style.

So, when I think of rocking it on KB/M, as a casual gamer... Jesus... I was super happy I bought that 19.99 controller.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sold 89,000 units, putting its launch sales at 33% lower than Star Wars Battlefront II. Not a bad showing for a Single Player game, especially after losing so many loyal followers of their owned franchises (Mass Effect, Anthem, Star Wars, etc). I suspect that the game will continue to sell well in the years to come. I really hope they release some new content for this.

The game is fucking visually stunning, on PC, in 4K max settings. The in game cinematic and action was all breathtaking. There were points that I was so "high in the air" that I had to remind myself it was a game.

Sales may pick up, or at least be steady. There are at least some people like me who were on the fence because of the shenanigans EA pull have been getting progressively worse. But word of mouth here has convinced me to give it a shot.

Good reads in this thread, I'll get the game once I'm at least done with a few games I'm in the middle of...I really want to finish some things lol.

Good! The game was paced well enough that as you re-attuned to the Force, each and every step was meaningful. It all carried an appropriate amount of weight, it felt strong and for 25 hours I remembered what it was like to be young again. Some may argue the story wasn't all that original and any number of gripes about how some character's didn't truly feel fully explored. However, there are elements of dialogue choice in the game (not sure if any of it truly impacts the gameplay or not. I suspect not). With a little more polish and such, the game could have been Mass Effect: Star Wars, with impact dialogue options. I didn't really even mind the lack of it though, to be honest. I was so drawn into the role of Cal's self re-discovery I forgave the game for not being as deep in that fashion.

It sets the stage for more games, god I hope they expand it constantly.

Not too bad. This definitely seems like a game that will do well with holiday sales.

I don't see how the sales numbers can be treated with any relevance these days given Origin Premier, unless that number includes the number of Origin Premier ' Add to Library' as a sales unit.

I wasn't even aware of this game until last week. I think I just assumed it was another Battlefront type of game if I saw the name anywhere. I generally keep up with what's new in gaming, so this might be an under the radar type of game.

As I progress further, the more of a mishmash of genres it becomes. I don't know if it's doing anything unique, but it's a neat combo of Sekiro, Uncharted, Ninja Gaiden, and Darksiders set in the Star Wars universe. It does what's it's trying to do well and it looks/sounds good in the process. Unless the game falls off a cliff after the second planet, I'd say it's one of the better titles I've played this year.

The game is good, but it doesn't reach great status simply because it's not a huge game. There are basically only the four main planets, and it doesn't have the length/complexity of a game like Sekiro. Sekiro is an absolute masterpiece once you get past the difficulty curve.

Boy, I am quite terrible at this game. Even after years and years of these "Press to counter attack" type of games I am still miserable at them and I accept that.
I'm trying to fight the slug boss on the first jungle planet and it literally kills me... instantly. I don't even think I hit it at all last time. :/

The trick to the monster battles (and many other fights, including a lot of Jedi hunters) is to use the dodge profusely. Screw blocking, I was never good with it in the game. I always fail in epic clownshoes fashion when attempting to use it with any level of proficiency. I used the shit out of dodge and what I ended up doing the most was a roll or two out of danger and then a dodge / roll back into striking distance for a couple hits and then a fade away. Don't block the monsters, dodge and strike profusely attempting to kill them as fast as possible. I was able to get through 99% those fights with brutal offense (I took plenty of damage) and constant dodging.

I noticed that many of the monsters ignore your parry or defeat it massively fast. The best defense is a good offense. Kill them fast, dirty and accept some health loss. Boss monsters will not re-spawn after you rest to heal. However, many more run of the mill ones will. Even then, I think you can only reset the monster spam / spawn 2 times before they stop popping up after healing. Minor monsters and enemies will keep re-spawning. It's a good way to gain some extra XP early on.

Honestly, I killed most of the monsters so fast I didn't stick around to get munched on. I got beat up but nothing severe. The Imperial Security Droid of Rogue One fame beat the living Christ out of me on a regular basis with the heavy offense assault. I never got better at killing them unless I got the drop on them or was using something akin to crowd control abilities or pushed them off a ledge (which you can do with damn near anyone and it's very useful to kill enemies this way).

I never pull off the parry timing correctly in these fights with monsters... especially when I parried and they flashed "red" which always instantly defeats your parry (I think that annoyed the shit out of me the most, the super defense defeating attacks would break my immersion and make me swear almost every time). Dodge, always, fixes that most of the time.

If you can drop yourself off a ledge or jump off a surface at least an elevation above your target you are almost always presented with an insta-kill option that looks utterly amazing. You have to hit the "X" equivalent to execute it, the time window is short to do it. This may also help you in some circumstances to ace some early enemies.

Don't feel bad, I can never get the timing quite right myself.

Some enemies are weak to Parry; will stagger and lose more stamina than a normal strike. However some are not. The enemies with a series of quick combos don't tend to stagger in my experience and must by quick / long dodged and attacked immediately after their combo (2-3 hits at a time). The slower 'heavy' type seem susceptible though. Just be wary of the Security Droid, as it has an instant, unblockable, counter after you Parry it.

If you can master the Parry, Quick Dodge + attack, and the Delayed Strike (unblockable), than you can make it through most fights. Some of the major Bosses are unpredictable (at first) and take more time to perfect. I really wish there was an arena mode where we could practice on each enemy after we encountered them in the story.
