SanDisk - Ultra 2TB SATA SSD - $179 @ BB

Pretty sure most major online stores charge sales tax now. I check and yep $10 tax for MD.

Just checked my zipcode in Texas. Move to a free state! Buy some guns while you're at it. You'll be happier.

Great to see the prices continue to drop. I'm still hoping for $99 2TB by Christmas. :D

Well, I went ahead and bought one, since I have found that 512GB SSD's are not really enough, anymore. (Even multiple ones are constraining.) I bought a 1TB about 1.5 years ago for more than this and 2 x 1TB drives back 3 years ago at $199 each which, at the time, was a good deal. Oh, and I still have and use those drives in 2 other computers.

I can see a $140 or so for BF or CM and a maybe $150 for a 2 tb.
Either way, pricing is looking better than ever!

Thanks OP, in for two.

From what I can see, this is the Black Friday pricing and we will not see a lower price, at least with this model. However, I am pleased to see this price on a good 2TB SSD instead of the bottom end ones.

I'm still holding out for that $99 price mark. Remember, 1TB ssds broke under $99 only a few months ago, and there's still a whole 45+ days until Christmas. :) With the way storage prices continue to fall, I think there's a shot. (y)

This thing have DRAM cache?

Yes. Same hardware as the WD Blue 3D: Marvell 88SS1074 controller. Most famously used in the Crucial MX300 but it's still in a lot of drives and is more or less comparable to the SM2258 (Crucial MX500 et al).

So this should be roughly on par with Crucial and Samsung EVO lines in terms of reliability and speed? I've used Crucial exclusively for SSDs and haven't been disappointed even if they aren't the fastest. But the value of these looks very good. I want to hold out for $150 or so but $180 was getting very close and I might just go for it if I see another sale.

These Drives Are Fine.

Realize this review is OLD and the drives have probably received new firmare.
Also some of the info in the review is erroneous.
Warranty is 5 Years (not 3 as it states in review)

Yes. At the same price I'd probably opt for the MX500 but I consider all of these drives to be in the same relative class/tier.

My city has 8.5% sales, Staet: 5% income, and 3% (300k home ~ 9k in prop taxes yearly) property, so hah. My life sucks.
Wow, that's almost as high as the lodging taxes rates I saw in the hospitality industry in North Alabama. Alabama property taxes aren't bad compared to other states. IL and WI looked brutal in those departments.

Couldn't pay me enough to live in a place like AL. Laws straight out of medieval Europe....:(

Sounds like you've never even seen the place except on tv. :bored: Actually some of the laws I've seen in NY, parts of WI, IL, and CA make Alabama look far ahead. I've never seen smoother roads anywhere in the US that I've driven, and didn't realize how nice it was there until I moved.

Why is it when I make a purchase like this, something else goes bad and I need to spend money I did not expect to spend. :( I have a UPS that has a bad battery and I am just going to replace the UPS.

Let me know what size you need (UPS) and what replacement battery you need for your existing one as I know where to some cheap if they're available. (y)

Thanks for the heads up. I had a APC 550ES but, I purchased an APC 1100VA Back UPS Pro to put on a computer and moved that Cyberpower 850VA to the location that the 550VA one was being used instead. I am not broke but, since I am trying to stick to a budget, I returned the 2TB SSD, since I did not really need it at this time.

So I got mine yesterday and it arrived DOA.

Submitted the return request for exchange.
Kind of sucks, but whatever.

Gotcha. These are the two resources I check regularly for replacement batteries for our apc units:
https://www.cdw.com/search/?key=apc&outlet=1&searchscope=all&sr=1&maxrecords=72&SortBy=PriceAsc
https://www.provantage.com/service/searchsvcs/H-OPENBX?SEC=^OPENBX&QUERY=apc&MAX=60

Smart move on only getting what you need when you need it. This will probably drop below $150 in less than a month. (y)
