Xbox Elite controller series 2

Neat this one is actually rechargeable. Looks sealed though so when the battery does give up the ghost you’re boned

I don't think so. From my experience type C ports wear out and get really loose on my phone's. Never had that issue with any other USB connectors.

Maybe, but I've had the mini USB port wear out on like 3 Xbox One controllers so that's not very good either.

But anyway, this controller looks sweet AF, I definitely plan on getting one at some point.

The micro USB on my launch PS3 controllers have no issue still.

I like being able to swap batteries at will vs. charging a controller. I always have at least a pair of rechargeable batteries ready to go and can always use Duracells in a pinch.
Otherwise I'm really curious about this. After having broken 4 sets of normal Xbox One controller bumpers, I'm going to watch reviews for this really carefully. I can't justify dropping $150 for something I'll break just like the others.

I have a launch day "series 1" and have had no issues. I'm going to sound like a damn broken record, but wash your hands before using your controllers and remember you're dealing with 2 psi buttons, not 80 psi breaker switches.

Spotted in the wild. Good to know that the packaging is clearly marked to differentiate from the original version. I think I'll be picking one up for a comparison to my original even though it still works perfectly.

Those Power A controllers on the bottom work good I picked one up last week for 19.88 plus my 10% discount which I get for life now since I've been with Walmart for 22 years.
I mean you can buy 9 of them for the price of the Elite =D

Somewhat related, my local Best Buy has been selling normal brand-new Xbox One black controllers for $41 recently. That's about as cheap as normal retail for those gets.
I still go through one at least once per year. It's usually the bumper plastic that breaks, but my last one had an analog stick that developed a severe/permanent drift. The Dualshock 3 (not 1, 2, or 4) and Xbox One controllers are the only pads I've ever managed to damage in my entire life.

The bumpers are an easy fix. The open tool sucks with this kit, but I have a car interior trim removal kit and that made opening the controllers easy.

For $150 it probably shouldn't break at all? At least not in the exact same way as the $40 models.
It's great that there's a way to fix it, but this is a problem that shouldn't exist. I'm hopeful the new one doesn't do this. In the initial press release for it they mentioned sturdier bumpers, so it isn't out of the question.

Ahh, I thought you were talking about the normal ones. I hear ya though. I have had two controllers go bad within the warranty period. That is two more go bad than any other system I have had including Xbox 360 controllers.

Looks like Series 2 controllers are just as hard to find right now as the original. You'd think Microsoft would have learned that demand for a premium controller is higher than they thought.

I personally hate the paddles I lost one of mine too cheap to buy another kit.

It seems like the bumpers are more sturdy. At the very least it seems like more than 2 tiny little plastic nubs keeping them in place.

This guy is so lost.... but it was interesting for him saying the Elite controller lasted longer then 60+ Ps4 controllers.

That's what I thought too. It's a fallacy. Even well designed shit breaks. The bumpers are a common failure point in the original Elite controller. The fix is simple enough, but it's annoying enough to remind you that your money doesn't necessarily buy you security. I wouldn't give MS marketing any credence here until proven otherwise.

Walmart near me actually has them in stock, but the idea of going to Walmart grosses me out...

So I gave my dad an original Elite controller last year. Apparently the grips started coming off less than a year later while mine is still pristine after 3 years of regular use. This reinforces the hand hygiene issue for me because he was always the kind of person who never washes their hands and it always grossed me out as a kid.

I seen one on the shelf at work I asked one of my co-workers to buy it for me. Even though I could afford a few dozen of them myself I have enough controllers to last me a lifetime Really nice place to get cheap controllers but I know alot of them are fakes.

Not fakes, you just get what you pay for. I've had enough experience with third-party controllers in the past that I just avoid all of them.

Whatever Armenius they have fake controllers all over the place that are labled as real.

Where are you buying fake controllers? Normal retailers can't sell knock off electronics labeled as MS and Sony.
Not that I have that much faith in either at this point. As many Xbox One controllers as I've broken I should probably start buying the cheap knock-offs or looking into bulk orders.

ebay has boats loads of them I seen a site that has like how to know the difference between a fake and a real one.

This controller isn't doing very well in the reviews dept. Analog controller drifting and sticky buttons.

People need to stop jizzing on their controllers. Put them down and out of squirting distance before going to work when getting that urge. And don't forget to wash your hands afterward ;).

Would like to pick up one of these with my 25% discount from surviving Black Friday but worried about the build quality but I could return them whenever.

Worried the front part of the controller might collect dirt and look bad after a while.

I went through 3 different original elite controllers. The first 2 times it was the bumpers and the 3rd time it was severe left stick drift. I've had the elite 2 since launch and have put it through several hours of Halo already. The elite 2 feels like a completely different animal to me build quality wise. The bumpers feel much more solid as well as the triggers. I also love the fact that I can manually tighten the sensitivity of each stick with the included screw driver. I did buy the geek squad warranty just in case, (just as I did with the original 3), but we'll see how it goes. So far the 2 feels like it's going to last a lot longer after about 75 hours of gaming on it.

I imagine I'd also set my thumbsticks to the stiffest settings across the board. I've always favored the Xbox controller vs. PS controller for shooters and it's mainly because I feel like the PS sticks are too "touchy." Being able to tighten things up even more would be a blessing. I'm still paranoid about those bumpers and analog drift, though. It's one thing for a $40 controller and it's another thing for a $180-200 one.
