Billy Mitchell's Records Being Reinstated by Guinness!

I say let this cheating asshole have his pointless records so we can stop hearing this man child's constant whinging. Guinness records are nothing but pointless entertainment, anyway.

Guinness records are neat, but they are so diluted and almost meaningless anymore. They used to be something really cool. Now, it's just ho-hum.

This guy is a child that whines constantly about everything. Most people have already written him off, anyway. He's a known cheater and no one really give a toot anymore.

What about Ripley's Believe it or not records?

The thing is, even ignoring guiness the whole community is jam packed with cheaters, review staff cheating, staff helping cheaters, etc. It seems every month there's some new "scandal" involving some crap at either twin galaxies or some speed run GDQ related nonsense. The only reason I even know as much as I do about these communities is due to the dumpsterfire of cheating that constantly comes up surrounding them.

TBF, most of the "scandals" with GDQ events comes from people being pissy that the organization wants their shows to be mostly "family friendly" and not the wild do and say whatever stuff of the early events. People need to pull the sticks out of their asses and remember that the events are for charities.

Make AGDQ CGDQ again.

Here's a good way to approach stuff like this:
Them: "I *DID* WIN AT MARIO KART 4 BETTER THAN ANYONE IN THE WORLD!! I AM A RECORD HOLDER!"
You: "Oh..nice...did you cure cancer or make a crippled child walk?"
Them: "Uh, no...duh"
You: "STFU, GTFO"

I wiped my own ass earlier today...where's MY prize!? =P

Your prize, (provided you wiped correctly) is you don't have shit on your hand.

In case you guys haven't seen this video about this weird Azureth-style dictator and Guinness World Records, I'd strongly recommend it. I don't remember any American politics-related content in it, so don't worry about that.

Honestly, Guinness has definitely lost all credibility at this point. Reinstating this guy is like giving a child who's whining, because you took their toy away for being bad, their toy back. Like, what lesson is to be learned by giving this guy his record back? It essentially tells cheaters, go right ahead, there's no repercussions. What a joke.

Out of curiosity I had to look up what the Guiness "record" is for most cyclists that raise awareness and saw that was 3246 cyclists, and I had to laugh at that considering whenever they do various versions of "Critical Mass" in cities they easily dwarf that amount.

I had no idea who this guy was until about a year ago, when I stumbled across a video on YouTube about it. While most of these guys seems like losers, the topic was fascinating. I got in to watching documentaries about Super Mario Bros speed runs and the science behind the game mechanics....it was really cool to see what these guys have discovered over time with something so seemingly simple. Dumb record, but fascinating information.

This, too, happened to me.

There is a fascinating documentary called "The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters" It follows a guy named Steve Wiebe and his attempt to pass Billy Mitchells record. It is all kinds of "cringey" ... I think that is what the kids say these days.

billy is insufferable, and if you ever feel like getting super depressed watch some of his live streams... but stripping his records he got in the 80s claiming he used mame before it was ever created was a bit ridiculous

nothing to do with his records from the 80s. it was his "modern" runs, that beat those 80s ones, that he cheated at.

don't know if he did or didn't, but they stripped the 80s records also when they stripped all his records

I've watched that documentary before and it is pretty interesting, HOWEVER, they shot something like 200 hours of footage and condensed it down to 2 hours. They told the story they wanted to tell about the hero, Steve Wiebe and the villain, Billy Mitchell. In real life, they know each other and are much friendlier toward each other than they'd have you believe from watching that documentary. Not only that Steve Wiebe WAS a previous WR holder in DK. I guess Walter Day addressed a lot of issues on Twin Galaxies website. I guess that whole community felt like the story told in that documentary wasn't very accurate to the actual events.
