World of Warcraft Classic

Ok, so... While gold has inflated exponentially, my main gripe is a silent trade channel. What's that about?

I googled a bit and always get wow forums mentioning it happened in Legion and that it ruined the games social aspect BUT never how it did it... Like, what change caused the trade chat to die?

I have MANY grips overall like everywhere in the old world being my level or 60 max, but that I can live with.

In vanilla people used to sit in big cities and advertise their rare professional skills because they had nothing else to do between once a week raids. In BFA most people are out and about in the big world, doing world quests, grinding rep, collecting tmogs, doing M+, etc,
In BFA most professions are worthless and anyone seriously interested in the game has 5+ alts with every profession to get whatever the may need. Cut top gems are sold for less than a hundred gold on AH, enchants are only for rings and weapons, any decent crafted gear is BoP, so what is there to sell? So all you see in trade chat are boost sellers and the usual political trolling.

I seriously do not remember leveling taking this long in Vanilla. I gave up on the rogue and continue to level my warlock. Just dinged 28 tonight after actually sitting down and putting some time into the game over the past week. Hoping for 30 tomorrow. Have just over 1 day played.

Going to try and hit 60 before Phase 2 and the HK grind fest that will likely make leveling 50-60 a nightmare. Hoping that Phase 2 comes end of November at the earliest.

It's been 15 years though, so you might have forgotten how long it really took.

That said though, I notice that grouping is really hard to come by. In vanilla, I never had a problem finding a group. Though, I was a priest, which was super rare back then, so the second I logged on, I'd be spammed with 15+ people all wanting me to join their group. Now it seems like the class everyone desires are warriors. There are like 4 priests per warrior on my server, and when you throw in other healing classes, healers are a dime a dozen. Warriors on the other hand? Oh, you're level 20? I guess you're good enough for Scholomance.

I'm trying to lvl a warrior but it's slow going, about to hit lvl 20 but mostly grinding mobs as I seem to have run out of quests in my range (unless I change continents which without a mount I'm not even going to attempt).

Seems most players are much higher lvl and moved on from the earlier zones but I'll get there ventually, I'm in no hurry.

I switched zones on my warrior, was worth it. The minute you get dual wield everything speeds up. The difference was staggering.

On my server warriors are not hard to come by, but a warrior that is willing to tank is. I’d say in terms of popularity mages are the most common followed by rogues, then hunters, then warriors. Least common seems to be druid followed by warlock which isn’t much different than Vanilla.

Do you guys know when there will be PvP battleground ? I'm new on Classic (the first time I played WoW it was at WoTLK)

I believe the honor system will be implemented in Phase 2 which Blizzard currently says will be released by the end of the year (probably late next month). Alterac Valley and Warsong Gulch are planned for Phase 3 which I’m guessing will be February/March 2020.

on my server its kinda the same way. but still looking for a tank and healer. more often they need a tank though. as a priest I dont have trouble finding a group usually. one thing that kinda annoys me are the guild recruiting messages in the lfg channel. takes up the chat window whenever they post

Dinged 30 tonight and joined a raiding guild. Trying to crunch out 1.5-2 levels per night for now, basically what I can get for 2-4 hours of game time. Unfortunately, have my entire Thurs-Sun accounted for so leveling will have to take a backseat. But at least I’ll come back to a full level of rested XP, maybe more.

Started multiboxing last week. Started a human team: paladin tank, mage, lock, rogue, and pally healer. I was tempted to go warrior/pally or pally/priest, but I'm a sucker for having two blessings and two auras. Didn't throw a druid in the mix because it's a pita to run one to the human starting area.
They dinged 20 yesterday and are clearing Deadmines to level. So much more relaxing than fighting with other people in Westfall/Redridge, getting called a loser, people telling me to kill myself or get laid, people stealing mobs on purpose, etc. From level 20 and on I'll be instance grinding. I think once they hit 60 I'll try and do UBRS/Scholo/Strath, but they may be a PITA to multibox as fresh 60s.

I've seen a couple of people doing this on my server. How does it work. Do you have to make multiple Battle.net accounts & pay for multiple subscriptions? Seems like it would be fun to try.

Sounds like you’re missing out on the WoW experience. :p

How are you multiboxing different classes at the same time?

You're kind of going against the entire purpose of an MMO by just playing with yourself to clear content...

And I'd be one of those people telling you to get a life. I dont agree with multiboxing and do view the people who do it as relatively sad people who generally cant socialize in the least to form real groups and do content the legit way. And impatient to have characters at max level, unwilling to put in the effort to level each individually and learn the class and skills indepth. I would much rather have someone who played each character individually and learned the class through and through than someone who halfassed it.

maybe he only likes end game content? I dont know.

side note, got super trigger last night when a couple allies ganked me 3 times. im almost lvl 39 and only have 55g for my mount. half what I need. that sucks. I havn't spent more than 2g I'd say on the AH. I picked tailoring and enchanting as my professions and looks like they cost money to level up so kinda screwed on making gold from them. I used a bunch of cloth to level up tailoring to 150 and DE green items to get enchanting to 43

Tailoring is MONEY. I made about 40g over a week buying cheap linen stacks and making 6 slot bags. They go like hotcakes.

I made a bunch of those bags to level up tailoring and then vender them all cause the ones on the AH were listed for the same price. the cost to put the bag in the ah was like 50c so I think I would have made like 50c a bag so it didn't seem worth it. they vender for 2s and the ones in the ah were listed for 2s 70c

Looked it up. Paying for additional accounts.
I get that but multiboxing is playing multiple characters at the same time by the same person. They typically all follow the same input so when you cast something on one then it does for the other X number of characters you're multiboxing. Caveat has been they have to all be the same class though so that's why I'm wondering how he was able to do different classes.

They don't have to be the same class, that makes it easier, if all different classes it requires a bit more attention when setting them all up and how you play them.

Yikes. Let's take this in parts.

I don't care. I play video games to have fun. I don't care if I'm not playing to someone else's idea. I've played WoW since Alpha. I've played Rogue and Mage solo back in the day. I've already experienced MC/BWL raiding. I have no desire to do that ever again. I am going to play the game how I want to.

And I'd be one of those people telling you to get a life.
Great. What's your /played on your character? This is my #1 response as most people's /played will quickly debunk that "insult" and they'll realize they're a hypocrite.

I dont agree with multiboxing and do view the people who do it as relatively sad people who generally cant socialize in the least to form real groups and do content the legit way.
99% of the multiboxers have already played solo. So you're wrong. We multibox because we got fed up grouping with random morons who can't learn the simplest dungeon and raid mechanics. Also, if I can't socialize properly, I wouldn't be married and have a job. Do you really think it's that hard to socialize in a fucking video game? I have no desire to socialize with any one in any online game, at all. I'm not 14 any more, I socialize in the real world.

And impatient to have characters at max level
I'm not multiboxing to level faster. My favorite dungeons are Uldaman and Maraudon. The best part will be the journey to 60 for me. Once I'm 60 I'll probably roll a new group.

unwilling to put in the effort to level each individually and learn the class and skills indepth
You don't think that playing 4 different classes at once doesn't involve learning each class in depth? This comment is so hilariously ignorant it blows my mind. Do you think I just drag shadowbolt, sinister strike, and fireball to the action bar and I'm done? LMAO. The fact that I have to make 4 different classes work in synergy requires farrrrrr more effort than just playing 1 character.

I would much rather have someone who played each character individually and learned the class through and through than someone who halfassed it.
Again, you seem to think it's easy. Playing 5 mages at once is incredibly easy. I am playing a mixed group, that also happens to have a melee DPS in the mix along with ranged DPS. Any one who multiboxes knows the complexity of having mixed melee/ranged groups.

Now finally let me address the "idiots parted from their money". I'm not sure why spending $75/month to have fun makes me an idiot. There are far more hobbies that cost much more money. While we're bashing me for being unable to socialize, do you not realize how expensive it is to be social in real life? Ever been to a club? A bar? Ever bought drinks for a friend or picked up a tab? Ever treated someone to dinner or went on a date? $75 is a drop in the bucket. I'm not working at McDonalds making $10/hr anymore. If you think $75 a month is a lot, then we are at different paths in our lives regarding income, it's that simple.

Do you have any idea how much money people drop on skins for Fortnite? Have you ever spent $60 on a game and only played it for 10 hours?

And for the people who are genuinely interested and aren't seething in ignorant hatred, just check out dual-boxing.com. It's the main source I used to get started back in the day. You'll think about multiboxing the next time some idiot in a dungeon wipes your group or steals loot :)

I always thought multiboxing took some real skill. Good luck!

I give credit to multiboxing it takes skill.

I use have time play wow classic, unfortunately I don't these days, Some day's wish I was 16.

I enjoy working with Owning Lawncare/Landscape business and Working 3rd shift 10pm-6am job. Real life is my video game im playing make money retire at 45-50. I've completed 30% my wow classic quest in real life game.

Game on!

So, I think I'm reaching the burn out phase now. First, the server I'm on is becoming a lot less populated. But it seems that the social aspect that existed in vanilla just isn't here. You have 40 level 20s in a zone, and they're playing 40 solo games, which makes things a bit difficult when all 40 of them are camping the 5 monsters which spawn for a quest.

I’m on Incendius (Horde) and it remains very populated despite still being layered. Hit 32 last night. Hoping to hit 40 by the weekend.

A lot of people got burnt out because they rushed the content. Mindlessly grinded the same dungeons over and over again so they can hit 60 as quickly as possible. Then grinding BiS gear for endless hours. If people took their time I feel like much less people would be burnt out right now.

When I started back up I wanted to experience WoW the way it was meant to be experienced - an adventure. A mixture of questing and dungeons. Then when you hit end game, play a few dungeons nightly and then once or twice a week go clear a raid or two.

I noticed today that I have a free character transfer available in the WoW Shop. Does anyone know if thats to any other realm or just to specific ones? Doesn't say in the shop and I don't want to buy it if its only to specific realms.

It's specific to Classic and there are only certain realms eligible, generally only allowed to move from a high cap realm to a low cap realm. I don't know if there is an updated list, but there was one on the Blizzard forums when they first offered the free realm transfer back in the middle of September.

Here it is:

Hit 35 today after running a few SM graveyard and library instances. You honestly don’t truly experience the game until you play in groups - had to remind myself of this after primarily solo questing the past couple of weeks.

5 more levels until my free warlock mount. :)

So Phase 2 was announced for November 12th. Been trying to level my warlock as much as possible to avoid the inevitable gank fest it’ll be for anyone level 48 or higher.

Ended the night at 42. Hoping to get to 53 by Phase 2 so I can just farm dungeons to level and begin collecting pre-BiS gear.

I’m semi-tempted to level the rogue alt I’ve wanted until the initial ganking frenzy ends after Phase 2 drops. Easier to avoid getting ganked when you can stealth.

Anyone else still leveling?

Wait until you find out how much that free warlock mount costs in materials at level 60. I don't remember too many strings on the level 40 one though.

It’s actually significantly less than a regular epic mount. If you reuse mats you can get the epic warlock mount for under 500G on my server. I just hit 49 tonight and already have 250G. By the time I hit 60 I’ll probably have enough you get my epic mount right away.
