8 inch floppies retired for Air Force ICBM launch control

I doubt they are putting in a direct order that identifies them. Probably easier just to pick some up at the local store and take one apart looking for any sketchy shit just to be on the safe side.
I don't think they can do that by law, they have to go through the ridiculous federal procurement process.

True, but I'm pretty sure any agency involved in security/defense probably have dummy corps set up to purchase common items that might be used in sensitive areas.

But no, it isn't for sale. :p

Someone has a Super Flower SF201..... looks like the SF201T that has the side and top windows. :)
Correct, it does have the top window, and both side windows.

They had a window on the right!? Why, there was now to do behind the MOBO tray other than hide the cables.
I just bought the clear left side separate for $30.
Let me guess, you bought the case from Directron, about $150? Not sure what the price was for the window version.

Yeah, agreed.
Hopefully the new SSDs are proprietary and at least vetted for any hacks or identifiable alterations.

Hacking an 8" FDD from the early 1970s with something that could report data back to foreign entities would be difficult.
Doing so with a modern SSD is beyond easy; don't even need additional hardware, just altering the firmware may be enough.
It's pretty hard to hack a computer that isn't even connected to the internet in the first place ;). Nothing like running a Sneaker-net in a bunker to launch nukes. Amazing to think of how primitive these guidance systems actually must have been on missiles from the era. The processing power required to run the Atari game missile command was, likely, more advanced... lol.

I have a box of unopened 8" floppies somewhere.

I just recently bought it on Ebay for around $40.

Was thinking more along the lines of a cellular/high-bandwidth modem built in to the SSDs, or other modern components, since that has been a thing for a while now with many devices, hacked or not. :D

I would be very surprised if any RF can enter or leave the rooms these devices will be used in. That would be a very basic security measure that was likely implemented long ago.

I really hope so, as I've seen dumber things be overlooked and implemented before.
