Destiny 2

It's only year one and the first two expansions that are free. There are incidental things like strikes, Gambit, Gambit Prime, and public events etc. that have been unlocked regardless of whether they are from Forsaken or Shadowkeep. This is so New Light players don't get walled off from group activities. The game was structured so that new players aren't gated behind the story or level caps so that friends who come to the game can join their other friends and game modes from day one.

mountaintop.jpg recluse.png Holy shit I actually did it.

I've got the Recluse, but not the Mountain Top. I'm nearly there on the Revoker, which will make the second PvP weapon I've ever earned.

Will Iron Bannor wins count for the Triumph for recluse? I assume Iron Banner won't count for progress for Ranking up?

No, it does not. Regular PvP and Iron Banner award Valor. Competitive awards Glory. The Recluse requires the latter.

Dan_D is correct despite what a bunch of sites out there say. A few make the false claim that iron banner can earn you glory. Iron banner is great for getting the multi kills for the mountaintop with guardians grouping up capping control points.

I waited until I had all the preliminary mountaintop objectives complete before I went for fabled in competitive so I could earn both weapons at the same time.

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to Destiny and my GoogleFu has failed me. I'm trying to research gear stats, and their potential priority based on class and play style; but I can't seem to find anything that is recent, everything is pre armor 2.0. Any recommendations?

Its a little annoying and I think we're all still getting used to it. As for what armor can use what mods, i keep this handy.

Oh gosh, I don't know how people level so fast. I've literally got boots and bonds for half my drops this week. Just hit.....930. Granted, I've not been terribly concerned on leveling power since there really isn't a reason for me to and that part to me is just getting flat out old.

On a side note, I accomplished my first ever LFG this weekend and jumped into the heroic menagerie for the Izanagi catalyst. So, ya, I'm one of those guys who is running that with Recluse and an auto-loading grenade launcher with IB.

Also, I know this is a rookie mistake, but I've just got into the enhanced-loader mods for armor. Turns out that I have a few more useful Spare Rations than I was thinking. So, question, Rampage or Swashbuckler, if everything else was equal? I do have a MKC roll, but I just want a dumb "spray and pray" type hand cannon to mess with. I hate having to think about whether the perks are active. I know, first world problems.

You have to be leveling multiple characters at the same time to be close to max level at this point. Level one as high as you can, move the highest level guns you have to a second character, level as much as you can again, and repeat for a 3rd character if you want. The guns give your second and third characters a boost when they start that allows them to go to a higher max for the week than your 1st character.

You guys are crazy. I'm still at 918 PL. I clearly need to get more efficient about grinding for my engrams lol.

This should help people. I'll have to watch this later.

Datto usually explains things quite well.

I just started playing again after stopping before the Osiris expansion. I have most of the launch weapons and armor but no exotics after that point. Are there a few key weapons I should look out for or grind a quest for?

Mainly hope to get back into raiding but I may do PVP from time to time.

Man, that list is so long right now. I pulled a list out of DIM of what I have and pulled out all the crap/fluff. There are the good weapons, in most people's opinions. (YMMV) There are probably a few standouts i'm missing (Revoker to name one off the top of my head) but the majority of what you want to keep an eye out for or persue are listed. The source is there as well so you'll have a basic idea of where things come from. Beyond that I would google how to get it specifically.

Is there a way to upgrade the old trials armor to be viable? Thinking about returning to the game...

No Y1/Y2 armor can be converted to 2.0 armor. However there is no reason you can't use it if you aren't looking to take advantage of the new 2.0 mods.

Not doing so would be very limiting. I'd go so far as to call it a bad idea, a mistake and a missed opportunity. There are too many things you can do with the armor perks that make using the 2.0 armor the only viable way to go for any of the harder activities.

Sure, I wouldn't use old stuff (I deleted it all) but someone just getting back into the game can use it just fine until they get new stuff and realize it's benefits.

To expand on this, outside of a 980 Ordeal, I'm 100% confident I could complete every activity in the game in Y1 blue armor. Might be more inconvenient but absolutely doable.

But why make things harder on yourself? There would be targeting, reload, exotic perks, ammunition finders, and stats like resilience or mobility mods you'd miss out on. And if your under 941 without those things, Garden of Salvation would be a huge pain in the ass. I'm not sure I'd say that was even doable unless the rest of your fire team can carry you through it by making up for what your lacking. In blues, or with super low resilience you'd probably get one shot by Vex Hobgoblins and things like that.

Again, i'm not saying I would, just that its doable albeit not efficient. Keep in mine i'm referring to on level blue gear, so say 950. Definitely wouldn't be one-shot by anything that wouldn't oneshot you anyway (fuck you cyclops).

I disagree. A single shot by a Vex Hobgoblin was able to knock my shields out completely and take my health down to about 20%. That was around 78 resilience or so. I don't think you'd survive that in blues. Granted, I was in the upper 930's when I did that encounter, but still. At 941, they didn't hurt that much less which is where I was when I last did the encounter. Basically, it two shots legendary gear with a fair amount of resilience. I'm almost positive that it would single shot someone in blue gear. Your blue gear doesn't have the stat budget or accept the mods to combat that. This wouldn't necessarily mean that you can't complete the encounter, but it would be more of a pain for your team.

I'd say it goes well beyond not being efficient. It would make things much more difficult.

Anyone have an idea how much the Dreambane mod armor actually reduces damage from Nightmares?

Finally starting to pull a + kd on the PC version now :D been playing iron banner with my might 922 power level and starting to hold my own. My biggest nightmare so far was getting the 15 smg kills lol, just finished that step and now into the last one. 1 more match win Togo and I'm done the whole chain.

So, that whole quest is just for us to be able to turn in tokens? I started on it yesterday and then watched a YouTube video on it just to see what it was for and how bad it was. Once I got to the 3rd "and the quest step will update once again" I said nope and turned it off.

Which one are you talking about?
