In relation to the Boston Dynamics thread in Mayhem

One man’s 12-ton, 16-foot-tall fighting robot is another man’s treasure.

Eagle Prime, the crown jewel of MegaBots Inc.’s fleet of sci-fi-inspired piloted robots, is being sold on eBay with bids starting at a single dollar. Founded by Gui Cavalcanti, Matt Oehrlein and Andrew Stroup, the company is shuttering operations amid money trouble. Their latest high jinks, a futuristic bot battle between the US and Canada, drew thin crowds online

Would definitely have watched it had I known about it. Sounds like the premise of Robot Jox.

In the distant future, mankind has forsaken global wars for battles of single combat. The world has been divided into two opposing super powers, with each side represented by trained champions. Their weapons are huge robotic machines, capable of battle on land, sea and in the air.

I just wouldn't call Canada a superpower.

You can watch the giant robot duel here -

Be forewarned, it's staged, so it's fairly disappointing to watch, feels a lot like a WWE match. One robot waits patiently while the other does it's action, like a turn-based game.

I'd cut that fucker in half, put the top on a trailer, replace the hands/weapons with a bucket and an auger, and sell it to some farmer as a front end loader ...... and turn the tracked bottom into an off-road tow for my own dirty pleasure :D

Meh, I don't see it doing somersaults while mounted on tracks.

Obviously a wedge of death will be more useful. Pretty much proven to be the most effective battle bot design to the point of being banned for making all other bots obsolete and pointless and not fun to watch.

They need varied terrain for more complicated designs to be more effective.

IDK, I think I rather watch WWF, and I haven't watch it since the mid 80s.
