If this were the legitimately rare Voodoo5 5000, then yeah.

PCI usually commans a higher price than AGP but that is crazy. If it sells I bet it is shill bidding in attempt to artificially raise perceived values. Goes on in every sector. See it often in the classic car market.

Me too. Was by far the best map download site for UT. Saldy it crashed and they never fixed it.

Sad day indeed. I have a fairly extensive collection of maps, mods, and models. If you need anything for your site shoot me a PM and will see if I have it.

It is a Buy It Now sale.. no bidding unless you count "Make an offer".

True. Saw that before. Same effect either way. Though viewing bidding action gives clues. Remembering that Soltek Xabre auction the OP threaded about a while back that sold for near $1,000. Was obvious.

Keeping an eye on this Voodoo 5 5000 AGP to see what happens. Part about giving away other components is interesting.

"giving away" heh.. more like it is baked into the price. Looks to be a Celeron 2.4Ghz with some random motherboard (Super Grace sg-vx266a3), 384MB RAM, and HDD.

Just glad I picked up a spare AGP V5-5500 around a year or so ago for less than $100. It is a backup for the one I bought new in the store back in the day.

It wasn't a typo on my part.

Much like the Voodoo 5 6000, the Voodoo 5 5000 was never released. It was going to be a chopped down version of the Voodoo 5 5500 (which 3dfx made plenty of). I don't think there were even a hundred 5000 made. When I checked the world list a while back, there were less 5000 sightings than 6000 in the wild.

So the 5000 is technically far more rare than the 6000 (but not nearly as cool).

The 5500 Mac and PCI are a different kind of rare, but those were sold through retail channels so a normal person could actually buy them at one point.
