Hey guys,

Been shopping for some new monitors for at work. Currently they have me on dual 1080p Gateway TN panels...yes..Gateway. It's way past time to upgrade and throw these in the dumpster. Planning on going Dual 4K 32" IPS.

90% of my time is in SolidWorks Modeling/Drawings.

List of candidates:

I'm torn between the BenQ PD3200U ($650) and the Dell U3219Q ($700)...they both seem nearly identical spec wise...leaning towards the Dell because it seems the BenQ is a bit more dated connectivity wise and a shade less on the specs.

Are the $1000+ monitors worth the extra cash? What makes them so special? (Asus ProArt PA329Q ($1065), LG 32UL950-W, $1100) First glance it seems they're all about color reproduction, which I guess I don't really care too much about, but I like the idea of getting up into this $700 tier where monitors are pre-calibrated and don't look like shit out of the box.

For reference I use an LG 34GK950F at home, a great balance between gaming & work. I figure I'll go for 4K at work being I'm not buying, and won't need a 2080Ti to drive it, but still plan on getting them to fork out for a new RTX 4000. I fear my lowly Quadro K620 will be a slide show on Dual 4K screens.

It will be colour reproduction mostly, so if you don't NEED that, you would be fine with the BenQ or Dell. I'd lean towards the Dell personally as it has the slightly better panel and specs. BenQ use AUO which, in my experience, are always the worst for bleed and glow. Dell have solid customer service too.

I would go DELL myself. I recently swapped a k2000 for RTX4000 and it was a breath of fresh air.

Looks according to RTings and people's reviews, the older 32UD89/32UD99 have better black uniformity than LG 32UL950-W, and also better for eyestrain being flicker free. I think you can get a 32UD89 for like $500 now on B&H and it's basically as good or better than the 32UL950.

I do cad on a 32uk550-b.. I don’t need ideal colour production, I just need fine details. Works for me

You could easily buy two of those 550s for the price of one of the monitors you listed.. which would give you much more screen space..

I'd generally recommend staying with the tier that includes rotatable stands. I've only rotated my 30/32" screens a handful of times; but being able to do so - especially for a big panel - requires a more strongly built stand that should also be more stable in day to day use.

I've never used a VA panel. I'm afraid to leave the comfort of IPS.
