Hi,

I have an older model TV that only has a wired LAN port, but no wifi. Is there any adapter that I could use to connect it to a wifi network? I'd rather not run an UTP cable to it around the entire house.

I assume regular APs don't work the other way round, right?

I suspect this can be configured to do what I desire, but I'm not 100% sure. I don't want the TV to go on the Internet, it just needs to see the media server on the network.

Thanks

Extender or powerline adapter. An old router with ddwrt can also be used as a repeater/extender but takes some setting up.

I use a chromecast for this very purpose. For example, I cast things from my Plex server.

Do you have coax for cable (not satellite) at the TV and somewhere close to a wired ethernet connection? Pick up a couple MOCA 2.0 adapters (and a MOCA filter and maybe replacement splitters).

The official thing you are looking for is called a bridge.

It takes a WiFi network and provides a physical CAT5 wired connection.

Some extenders and routers have the capability to do this.
