I wanted to make a separate thread for this issue to see if there any other ideas or at least consensus before I go through the RMA process with ASUS under warranty.

This is the issue:

Yesterday morning out of nowhere the monitor showed (and still does) athin green line going up and down the screen. It's a bit right of center. It's a thin green perfectly uniform vertical line going from top to bottom a bit right of center.

It's there in any and all conceivable situations in and out of Windows, BIOS, null input, etc.

I have done every conceivable troubleshooting step imaginable. I did factory reset several times. Unplugged and replugged it after some lengthy breaks. Swapped cables. Swapped inputs. Change settings. Changed power sources. Took the video card out of the equation. Everything.

Finally I brought in my sister's monitor which is the exact same one and it did not have the issue. That iced it for sure.

I am under warranty with ASUS with means RMA and repair. What's that going to be like? How long am I going to be without the monitor? Do they have an expedited option or anything?

Any other ideas or suggestions before I get into this? I keep running into this idea of a "ribbon" possibly inside and in the rear of the monitor which is something I personally wouldn't mess with.

It's a real shame to see it. Bad luck I suppose. I've had a great time with it for 13 months. This isn't a good feeling in any event but especially on something expensive like this. NEC Display spoiled me forever I suppose. Here I have a 10 year old monitor from them that I'll be going back to temporarily that still works like a champ. Go figure.

Thanks for any and all help and suggestions.

From the sound of it, the problem is on the actual panel or in the hardware on the monitor. At that price, I would just send it in. I don't know how ASUS will handle it, but assume you will wait a couple of weeks. Don't send it to them at the cheapest shipping because that adds delay as well.

I am bumping this thread because I'm happy to report a very good customer service experience with Asus.

Fair is fair. The monitor qualified for their Advanced Replacement Program which meant they put a hold on my credit card (like a preauthorization), prepped a refurb monitor and sent it through its paces, sent it to me and once everything was squared away I sent them my defective monitor in exchange. The replacement monitor was indistinguishable from a brand new product right down to packaging and spit and polish. I'm even the beneficiary of a few refinements and upgraded firmware.

Once they received my defective monitor the hold on my credit card was lifted and that was the end of it. The communications back and forth over both phone and email were excellent and I can honestly say they couldn't have done better by me in every respect. They did everything but hold my hand for me from start to finish.

We all get a lot of horror stories and it's all to easy to complain but I really wanted to make an effort to put forth a compliment because Asus earned it here. :)

Good to hear. I still have a launch day version of the PG27UQ that is still going strong with no issues.
