GDM-FW900 CRT

I literally threw 2 of these away a few years back...they both worked perfectly fine but no one wanted them....oh well....

I wanted one of these so bad back in the day, really were the ultimate in CRTs.

Honestly I would pay $300 for a pristine example, working perfectly. I think even $400-500 i someone found one brand new in the box. For a working, but beat up and previous refurb FW900? Maybe $100 or 150 if the thing is in very close proximity for pickup.

I think $300 is about what they reasonably go for. $1000 is too much. Seller is just asking that because it's the only one for sale.

Widescreen makes it kind of useless for "retro" machines dating back earlier than 2000 and I'd take a modern 144hz VA / IPS over the FW900 any day.

That said, retro hardware is suddenly mainstream so who knows what people are willing to pay for it.

I'm looking for a 4:3 CRT in the 19" range myself.

It's not 4:3, but this would have to be my ultimate 'money-is-no-object' retro build:

Edit: and a better use of $1000 (if you buy it used)

Oh wow, that would be nutty to play something like half-life 2 on. Must be a very large screen with that aspect. Guessing that's 60hz though? I'd love a higher refresh (at least 75hz) 4:3 monitor.

It's 80hz at max resolution and up to 120hz at lower resolutions.

For pickup only and damaged, they're crazy. If it had included shipping X distance, worth it. I have one collecting dust in the basement I couldn't sell because shipping was nuts due to its weight. I was going to throw it back up in the FS/T section though to see what's what with it.

I still have an NEC FE950+ (19") which does 1600x1200@75hz. Up until rather recently I was still using it as my secondary monitor. While it was a great monitor for a good long time it definitely has issues now with picture quality as well as one other issue. The picture is nowhere near sharp or clear anymore although I wouldn't be surprised if someone who could properly calibrate the internals could fix it. The other problem is an occasional issue of red not working. Smacking it a little would usually get it working again, though. That problem would likely need a piece replaced to permanently fix.

I'm not saying you made it up, I just have a hard time believing no one wanted them.

Ah my bad...I misunderstood you....:)

They are stunning monitors for gaming....but I just wasn't playing many games anymore and the sheer size and weight wasn't worth it for me.

I still dont think they make a screen that compares to them for color and clarity that is reasonably priced

All I need is a monitor that weighs that much on my 10k desk.

It is purty though.

If you can afford a 10k desk, you can afford to hire a midget bodybuilder to hold the 100 pound monitor up for you too. Pay extra for one that supports swivel though, need the monitor out of the way so there's room for whoopie on the desk.

Did I just post this?

sorry. I'm considering dropping this guy what he would consider a seriously lowball offer.. $150? Would be a decent trip for me to go get it too.

If I come home with a crt my midget wife (technically she’s 5’1 so not a midget) will literally never give me whoopee again no matter what the cost.

She’s also not a bodybuilder jerk

Less bourbon for you and me.

lmao... Was gin for me last night. Was at the bottom of the bottle so I had to polish it off to make space in the freezer... tad more than I expected at the bottom of that bottle. Hehehe

Mode13 may I suggest a deep freezer in the garage? Krazy925 why does your wife care what monitor(s) you use? Has it occurred to you that you could have a faster computer and a slicker display(s) if you didn't spend $10,000 on a desk?

There was a whole in my Blantons bourbon bottle and glass last night too
