Hello all,

I am back after my 6-8 month of hiatus from the PC life. I used to run 1800x + 1080 Ti on a AW3418DW but I sold all my components back then. Now i am rebuilding my rig with a 7820x + 2080 GTX all under water again. I am currently contemplating between 3 monitors (if there is something else please lend me your words of insight).
  1. AW3418DW - Had great experience with this before but even with the 1080 Ti it was not able to hit 100hz and frames dipped. I have looked at benchmarks and can safely assume this will still be an issue with the 2080 GTX
  2. LG27GL850 - Have ready great things about this monitor on rtings and tft - just the major con is it's contrast on darks, but hey its an IPS and I do not expect it to be that amazing? -
  3. A 4k display - just like the AW3418DW i expect this 4k monitor to not be able to maximize the frame rates/settings

I am also contemplating between dual monitor setup or just one (1) UW - but i look forward to your thoughts! Thank you all!

It ultimately comes down to use case. Personally, I find anything less than 4K totally impractical for productivity... I simply can't go back now, but were I using a monitor mostly for gaming, I would not be at 4K. A 34" would be my preference. I had an X34 before going 4K, and for gaming 1440 UW is certainly going to offer a superior experience. I'd chose this over 27" or x2 27" any day. A 2080 will be enough to push 1440 UW to decent frame rates, but not much over a 1080Ti. Maxed out, no, but you really need to do that? Plenty of tweaks for most games to squeeze out extra performance without sacrificing much in the way of visuals, unless you're pixel peeping.

thats true - but always nice to have a 2nd monitor for other things when most games cant use gsync with windowed mode or not fully using thes creen
