Why does my Sony 900f display a native resolution of 3840x2160?

fwiw I have a 900E and you can set it to 1080p/120hz if you don't have the chops to run 4k.
 
I don't know, I just assumed 4K uhd was 4096x2160.

Nah, that's DCI 4K, which is completely unknown/unused outside of film production. Consumer 4K is always 3840x2160.

It is ~17:9 so it would make absolutely no sense as a consumer resolution, whereas 3840x2160 is an even multiple of 1920x1080.
