CONTROL (Remedy)

Hello. I have Aorus 2080 Ti Waterforce Xtreme. And monitor 1440P. So using RTX HIGH 1440P i have fps range 35-70fps.But with DLSS i have 80+ but its blurry mess with 960p render. Why DLSS is rendering on 960p? Any tips?

I dont have 4k monitor so DLSS is on 960p:( too bad

In the game folder the render.ini you can change there and use DSR to get a more reasonable output. So Example 1920 x 1080 render at 2560x1440

On my 2080 system, I get really good framerates with ray tracing on high as long as you set volumetric lighting to medium, and MSAA to off (or Volumeteic lighting to Low and MSAA to 2x)

I average above 60fps with dips to about 45 in gun fights but it's very smooth overall, volumetric lighting kills performance going from med to high

this is at 1080p

ok renderer.ini , but can you tell me what change in nvidia panel to use dsr in this game? I mean what i must change to use DLSS above 960P.

dunno if you can force DLSS to render above 960p from the 1440p window resolution, the game is just blurry eve at standard 1440p, ray tracing makes everything look "soft" to me

You can't force DLSS to upscale from another resolution. The method gerardfraser showed doesn't require DSR to be enabled in the driver, as the game is doing it for you. But this is doing downsampling, not upsampling. So you'll get a better image but at the same performance level as 2560x1440. If you want to upscale you want to reverse the steps shown by setting the output resolution to 2560x1440 and the render resolution to 1920x1080.

Hey that makes sense,thanks .

I'm liking this game overall, but it is another example of why 3rd person shooters suck. Depending on your movement your character will block your sights, meaning you can't see your target. Or sometimes when you pick up an item to launch it at an enemy it will also obscure the target meaning you can't properly aim with that either. Or shooting at a wall because you don't have line of sight with your weapon. It is 2019 and I'm not sure why developers are still hung up on using a crappy inefficient camera angle when they know FPS works far better. Would easily be a near perfect game if it wasn't for the typical crappy 3rd person issues that are inherent with the genre.

you can hit R to change shoulder. but 3PV is a bit more cinematic and interesting to view.

Just a pain though. Fairly good game overall though.

Played around with RTX on high. Seems semi playable if I turn MSAA down to 2X. Not the highest frame rates and in some of the more chaotic battles it might become too low frame rate wise, but for smaller skirmishes it works okay. Not extremely smooth but not horrible either. If you're someone who doesn't absolutely want 60+ frame rates all the time and prioritize graphics over frame rates, it seems playable. Personally I prefer the higher FPS so left all RTX options off and MSAA at 4X. Maybe keeping only some of the RTX settings on would be acceptable for some people.

Playing at 2560x1440, RTX 2070 XC Ultra, Ryzen 3700X and 16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM (not very high end, timings might not be optimal either). In general I think most people would prefer the FPS though because with RTX off and everything else maxed out I was definitely getting around 60 or more frame rates on average.

Dudes. I have 33fps-to 60fps and when its 33fps its definitely slows on combat, on 2080 ti Aorus Xtreme Waterforce with 9900K.

Is any way to improve screen tearing/slowing on 30 fps? Its only in light areas. On darker i dont see even.

Using RAYTRACING HIGH,1440P render without DLSS. It looking so real. I am impressed.
But when i use DLSS ( 960 P ) i see an difference. Now its not looking so real and in fightning i just cant be happy with image quality + definitely i see low res and jaggies. Ehhhh.........

Or maybe its in my brain?

So what now. Play with 33fps+ 40+50+ or with DLSS full smooth?

Question for those that finished the game.

Where did Marshall go (the female Ranger)? Seems like she left to do something and her whereabouts were mentioned in the post game. Is there a side quest or place to find her? Or is it left for some DLC?

Ok i found out. Resolution 1440P but render resolution 1080P. Looks still nice and fps are decent now. Without DLSS.

Btw. What is difference between RESOLUTION and RENDER RESOLUTION?

resolution is what displays, render resolution is the image the card puts out. it will then stretch or compress the image to fit the resolution. you can possibly make things look better by having render resolution greater, but if it is too small you may get artifacts or blocky textures.

I gained 3 fps i turned off MSAA :)

I have no FPS issues @ 4k w/ 1440P DLSS enabled and max settings on my 2080ti. DLSS adds a little blur, but it's worth having all the raytracing options enabled.

Of course, i'm also running g-sync so lower frame rates don't impact me as much.

You edited renderer.ini for 4K ?Or native monitor 4k? Also 1440P is very demanding on very high combats you get propably dips to 35fps

Just started this a few hours ago, absolutely gorgeous game. Not too far in yet, but something tells me when I go back to playing DX: Mankind Divided, I'll be disappointed.

Game looks mostly phenomenal in ultrawide with a 2080ti.

details,res,fps?

pretty stunning use of all the ray-tracing effects...the definitive RT showcase...but I will also say that a lot of the effects can be very subtle unless you're really looking for it...but those RT reflections are pretty amazing...makes me want to buy a 2070S

Hey guys. My question. Is for you 40+-fps in combat playable? I have Acer Predator 27inch 1440P 144hz panel.
I have 9900K and 2080 TI.

Using Resolution:1440P Render Resolution:1440P ,all HIGH.Raytracing HIGH, no DLSS ,and i am during heavy combats drops to 38-45fps. In no combat is 55-60 fps.
But screen and graphic are perfect feel so real.

But when i use DLSS ( 960 P ) from 1440P ,i have perfect smooth 60 fps+ up.
But image is not good , in motion i can see an low res,not great compared to native 1440P.

And my question. What to choose, play with DLSS with worst image or not DLSS but less performance and greater image?

Hide behind the Shadows

I've only seen gameplay videos on YouTube but gameplay and graphics don't look all that amazing to me...it's the RTX effects that make this game special...I wouldn't even buy it without an RTX card

Holy f*** :) . I was in place in game where some strange "bowl" was attacking me on lightning room ,and she destroying all debris and woods near. It drops even to 29 fps on 1440P with many many particles destroyed :) 2080 Ti Aorus Waterforce and 9900K.

lol nice.

Ok i left with 1440P DLSS-> 960P and its fine

In motion it looks better. You don't quite appreciate the reflections and shadowing without actually playing and moving things around. It is then that you realize everything is dynamic, and not pre-baked stuff.

Control is an experience comprised of incredible individual components, but if you tally them all up you can't help but feel as though as you got the math wrong...

on 960 DLSS i can see on action low res from distance only. Like on smoke etc. Its normal?

You are rendering at a lower resolution. There is less information to describe what's going on in the distance.

I mean i see on smoke, papers, enemies from distance just a low res pixels. On 1440P its clean.

ps:
2: play with vsync on or off? I have gsync monitor

I like a number of aspects of this game but... it's a mixed bag for me.

I've liked it more the more i've gotten through it. The director alert side missions are great fun and complete chaos.

I actually think the level of destruction/physics is the most impressive thing in this game. Some of the fights turn into complete chaos with stuff flying everywhere.
