Those with Fiber what is your speed tier and what is the fastest you downloaded from steam?

I’m on 400mb a sec and I download at a super fast 60megs a sec on stream.

I can only imagine how fast the lucky bastards who have fiber are!

Me.

1 Gbps but not as lucky as the people with Salt Fiber with 10 Gbps.

I have symmetric gigabit.

Past a certain threshold, Steam downloading becomes more about decryption than bandwidth, so CPU limitation becomes a factor.

On my connection, an i5 6600k pulls about 65MBps, but my new 3900x effectively saturated it yesterday downloading Remnant: From the Ashes at 115MBps.

Note that I've heard Steam employs varying degrees of encryption so sometimes you'll see higher than normal results. Also, other services frequently employ NO encryption so you're more likely to see bandwidth saturation on those.

Gigabit fiber.
Steam download servers are pathetic. I'm lucky if it goes 150 mbs. It's typically even slower.
Blizzard, Origin, Epic, and pretty much all the others will download around 900mbs.

Symmetric 1Gbps and I've clocked something like 94MB/s top speed from Steam on a Ryzen 2600X.

I have Symmetric 1Gbps, just now peaked at about 64MB/s while downloading. I've had it hit around 100MB/s which i believe is close to max of 1gb pipe when you take out overhead.

Verizon FIOS 100M and I get that much when downloading from STEAM. Hard to believe I want faster as game files are getting yuge!!

1Gb/s up and down and I've seen 85-90MB/s down from Steam.

It's amazing not feeling like you have to keep everything installed all the time when it takes so little time to re-download it.

I have 75 Mbps, but don't really pay attention to download speed. I'll do something else while a game or update is in progress.

100/100 FiOS...the downloads are so fast I also don't look at the speed...even for the largest games it might take 20-25 minutes

Same. I am cheap and only get the 100/100 service from FiOS fiber. Not with the extra $30 a month for 1000/1000. Steam generally will max it out. Since I live alone I am content with it.

I have fiber att with 1gig up and down and I think the quickest I've seen steam download was 80mbps.

200/200 here on FIOS, and I have seen 24MB/sec from Steam many times.

200/20 on Optimum [they limit uploads hard, but no limits aside from that], pretty much always get full speed out of Steam (~25MB/sec).

90-100 on steam. Blizzard has reported upwards of 115 before, but anything over 115 is generally just calculated wrong. Shouldn't be possible much higher with tcp overhead.

I have 1 gb/s FIOS and steam is never really consistent. I have gotten as high as 75 MB/s on rare occasions but most of the time it ranges at around 30-60 MB/s from steam.

Same problem here.

I thought it was just me.

Forgot to mention, while i get some great speeds on my att fiber it is the most inconsistent service I've ever experienced. I'm seriously considering switching to spectrum which only offers 400mbps in my area but if it stays one consistently will be steps ahead of att.

I have the opposite problem :)

Just downloaded something today and checked the rate. I was able to get 32 MB/s. That's double what I was getting before. Still less than a third I get on other clients though.

I have 1gb/1gb and I see 85-90 as well.

File transfers to my external USB 3.0 hard drive are slower. lol

We have AT&T fiber 1000/1000, speed is around 60 for steam.

I have fiber (Verizon FiOS, finally.) that is essentially 1000/1000 . Speed tests show it easily over 950+ each time if from a nearby area, and I've never measured Steam but all my downloads seem to go quite quickly indeed.

I'd still prefer public municipal fiber if it was available, though.

Also depends a lot on what server you connect to. When you start talking connections in the gigabit range, often the CDN you are connected to doesn't have the bandwidth to serve that. Not that they don't have more than a gig of bandwidth, but you aren't the only person downloading at a given time and they can get to the point where they are fully saturated.

I have 250/250 fiber and 10G LAN, get about 47MB down on Steam.

Do you all ever use your upload?

If so what kind of speed do you get on home cloud storage services ? Plus which cloud service?

I'm stuck with 25/5 DSL and y'all are making me sad. I get excited when Steam goes over 3MB/s.

Living now in chile I have a 400/400 fiber with Movistar and steam its tipically at 39 - 42Mb/secs which its about where should be..
