Destiny 2

Finally got my lumina today. Haven't had time to play with it but the collector in me is glad to finally have the stupid thing, from what I seen it synergizes really well with mid tree solar warlocks which is pretty cool.

Sadly the damage buff doesn't stack with well but shooting a fireteam member with a Noble Round does trigger Benevolent Dawn just like a charged healing grenade so if used well, your grenade, rift and melee abilities are always up. Lots of healing.

The gun isn't my style. I make health bars go down, not up.

I mean mine has been in my vault since I got it, not going to lie.

I ran with it briefly. I'm good with it but I can never remember to buff my team mates with it. At that point, I might as well be using Thorn which hits slightly harder due to the debuff it puts on enemies hit with it. It's also no replacement for The Ace of Spades. It's been my go to gun since I got it.

Lumina is a pretty cool HC for what it is. Once in a while I'll throw out the Noble Ammo. I find that I still prefer its counterpart Thorn more between the two "cousins." Ace is still my overall favorite with a pretty darned good roll on Austringer behind it.

I need to spend some more time with Last Word. I had some people in Crucible hand me my ass a few times with it a couple of days ago. It got my attention and earned my respect.

In other words, Destiny 2 wasn't tested by AMD and Bungie didn't have access to the Ryzen 3000 series CPU's prior to their launch.

Savunthun's Song is frustrating me. I think I am up to 13 or 14 runs through it with various fireteams... bleh.

On the plus side making a three guardian squad I have been helping folk to trying out their first nightfall. Seems I am a sherpa of sorts.

Frustrating in what way? I know I have probably 40 completions and still no Duty Bound drop. I can't wait to get a weapon then immediately dismantle it so I can check it off in collections.

Then Silicon Neuroma.

Oh just frustrating in the repetition of play to try and get the bugger, getting a team of three together, blah.blah..blah. The grind I guess, and my saltiness for not having better RNG. HA!

Yeah. Neither of which is terribly surprising. It's not like CPU incompatibility has been a common issue in recent times.

What I find interesting here is that the newest fix is in the form of a chipset driver while the original was a BIOS update.

Where have you seen this? As far as I know, it will take a BIOS update to fix that given the nature of the problem.

Well, I've downloaded the drivers so I will let you know if they work.

FYI, according to my extensive Reddit reading, the Destiny 2 AMD Driver fix is working for almost everyone. It's not the long-term solution, but people are now up and running.

I just fired it up on the test bench and it does indeed work. I got the game up and running. I can't tell how good the performance is at this point given that I haven't got the 2080 Ti in that system, nor do I have the 4K display hooked up to it. However, at 1920x1200, it is working and maintaining a solid 60FPS with V-Sync on. Unfortunately, now that I am using a 120Hz G-Sync display on my main gaming rig, it doesn't feel smooth to me even with V-Sync on.

I have the same problem now that I've gotten used to high refresh monitors. I used to play at 4k 60fps and I was perfectly fine with it. Moved to 1440p 144hz gsync and freesync screens, and now anything below like 90 fps feels like a slide show.

Well, two resets in Iron Banner this week and only got the one Swarm without spikes. PVP'd out now. I have about 400 different rolls of all the other weapons though, I may try out those. I do like the smg. I was running ace/blast furnace with calus mini tool/and IB smg. Running transversive steps too. It's fun to fly all over the place and I can outrun supers if I hear it in time. Saved my butt a lot.

So for this Solstice Event: If I want to upgrade the armor do I need to have it equipped at all times for relevant events or can I simply have it in my active inventory? (In other words am I going to be stuck doing certain events in this weak sauce armor?)

it has to be equipped, I just equipped it all and started doing the same shit I do every day.

So the new eaz is pretty cool. Have done about 4 runs and got my helm unlocked, going to start knocking out the rest of the armor to unlock their next form. Still had 1000 silver from forever so I bought the arc ornament glow pack for my armor since that's what I run 90% of the time lol

Well, I have done some testing on Ryzen 3000 with the chipset driver work around and it's pretty ugly. You get higher averages than Intel and higher maximum frames but way lower minimums. It's behavior is actually quite similar to my Threadripper system. Sadly, Ryzen 9 3900X's minimums are even worse than my Threadripper machine's. I need to do more testing to confirm my suspicions, but I think it is one of those games where the Windows scheduler puts threads on disparate CCD's on the 12 core parts. Sadly, the game is so unstable on the Ryzen 3000 series that I can't even check task manager (or tab out of the game) without the thing crashing. I still have a lot of work to do testing this game, but its a mess on the Ryzen 3000 series. A fix in the form of an AGESA code update can't come fast enough. Well, unless it leads to more problems in which case they can keep it longer.

When you have a piece of the armor that says "completed"...do you have to wait for ALL of them to be completed before you can upgrade them to the next "tier" ? (I'm guessing they all have to be complete to go advance to the next tier)

Ya unfortunately you do, on a plus side once you complete a piece you can replace it with good gear again till they are all completed lol.

Right now the longest bits for me are the required 10 strikes (takes sooo long lol) and gathering 100 arc orbs in crucible, I was averaging about 10-20 orbs a match last night but since I need 10 matches anyways it should be fine.

I'm grateful for this mercy at least.

The Crucible is going to be rough. I so sorely wish it had coincided with Iron Banner last week. Iron Banner is my "good jinx" where I can actually play worth a damn and even be a bit of a positive difference maker for the team. I honestly couldn't believe what kind of week I had in there.

One plus though is I'm seeing a larger variety of weapons in crucible with everyone trying to generate orbs for the armor. One match I was killed by uriels gift, graviton Lance and some other odd ball weapons. I ended up using a y1 swift ride pulse rifle since I had a lack off good pvp worthy arc weapons.

My steps say 100 Arc orbs in crucible OR Gambit. It goes MUCH faster in Gambit with a masterworked Arc weapon.

Slap on the Riskrunner and go to town on the Vex or Fallen!

Ignoring this elemental armor shenanigans for the time being. Hit the half way point on Legend in gambit for the reset.

This is because Iron Banner actually uses skill based match making. It's less likely to pair you with the sweaty try hards that will turn your anus into a worn out retread tire, discarded on the shoulder of an Arizona highway. The other PvP modes do not do this. Basically, the match making algorithm for the Crucible priorities connection speed over anything else.

Hmmm I'll have to try it I just hate Gambit lol, since I got my meatball kill and hit 750 I've had 0 reason to go in there. Last time I did was for my invader kill to continue in the lumina quest

There's also the fact that having gear level turned on makes a noticeable difference if you're max level and going up against people that are a bit lower. Taking 1 less bullet to kill someone, or taking one more bullet to be killed, changes everything.

Very true.

I haven't hardly started on any of the event stuff. Today, I plan to install my custom water cooling loop, so I doubt I'll get to playing today either.

So, how do you get that sparrow with the event? I admit, I kinda want it. Do you have to upgrade armor on all 3 characters or only collect the helmets from the 3? My Titan is just starting the story mode, hunter is in the early stages of the forsaken expansion, but my warlock pwns all the noobs.

It says legendary armor sets on all three classes.. so I Think it's more the helmets.
