So currently Im running Gigabytes F40 AGESA 1002 bios with no problems, everything seems to be working the way it should. I noticed today Gigabyte released a updated F41 bios with no a, b or c but still the AGESA 1003AB. So does anyone have a opion on 1003AB, good, bad, worth leaving a stable F40 bios for?

I view AGESA updates like gpu driver updates. Unless you're having problems or need some features they provide, don't update.

I agree and same with flashing the bios, problem is I have really no idea if AGESA 1003AB brings any real fixes or improvements to the new 3000 series cpus over AGESA 1002.

If you are running fine, I wouldn't. I had the first release BIOS not even posted on the site. Never backed it up. Updated to the lastest on my TUF X570, now my boost clocks are 100mhz slower. Any other BIOS on the site crashes my GPU. I am about to reach out to asus to get a copy of that old bios.

i think it was only a slight fix to the boost but even with the fix cpu temps are going to determine how high the cpu boosts anyways so if everything is working for you with 1.0.0.2 then just stick with those until there's a significant bios update like when they figure how to fix the issue with destiny 2(even if you don't play it since it may effect other games down the road).

Right now my rig is performing very well, Im boosting up to 4.6ghz and when idle it drops 2.0ghz or lower, voltages also look good. If there is no real good cause to update to 1003AB than I have no problem waiting.

What board and chip you running?

WEl agesa has nothing to do with you. were ta\lking about x570 platforms.

Im not sure what WEI is, or what the X570 platform has to do with my question regarding the F41 bios with AGESA 1003AB. Sorry not trying to be a ass just not understanding your reply.

Sorry man. I got two threads accidentally crossed. My reply means nothing to you or the thread. Ignore it.

Wei was a typo. Don't worry about it.

ASUS CrossHair 6 Hero, AGESA 1003AB, Beta bios 7301, solved the cold boot issue with memory, peak boost in single thread Cinebench went from 4.523ghz in 1002 to 4.35ghz for 1003AB. For me not having to reset the bios if I loose power momentarily (Florida that happens too much) makes 1003AB the winner.

It's a better bios then the last one for memory, but it has lowered boost clocks for me as well.

Yep, I tried some PBO, upping the limits and it didn’t seem to do that much. I am sure boost clock will be restored eventually.

You should all wait for the next BIOS with next AGESA where AMD feels it has fixed everything and is now testing it with the manufacturers.
The guy works for AMD.
There are comments about AGESA 1002 and 1003AB, and none is good. So stay with the one you have until the fix is out.

I just flashed Update AMD AGESA Combo-AM4 1.0.0.3 for my x470 taichi / 3900x
Previously I wasn't able to get my 16GB dual rank sticks (32GB total) stable past 2933 CAS14 but it booted first try at 3200 CAS14 after updating.
stress testing now and maybe going to try for faster. 2933 was the QVL but the ram is Bdie and rated for 3200CAS14

So being the A$$hole I am, I decided to try the new Gigabyte F41 bios with Agesa 1003AB. It was causing my CPU fan to ramp up to full blast for really no reason, when launching Chrome the CPU would hit 60c with the fan full blast. I tried gaming previously with the F40 Agesa 1002 bios playing Rage 2 and monitored the 12 cores which hit 4200ghz and held there at about 50c and 30min of gaming. With the F41 1003AB I was getting 4275ghz but after a few minutes I was approaching 60c. This is also using the latest chipset drivers.

So its back to F40 Agesa 1002 until AMD gets it act together regarding their software, maybe next week with Agesa 1003ABB.
