Post your Ryzen 3000 configs!

On my Asrock X470 Taichi with 3.46 beta bios, I am still getting 4575MHz boost clocks with my ram at DDR4-3600 and the infinity fabric at 1:1 with ram. *shrug*, I'm not messing with my setup as it appears to be running smoothly.
Still cas14? That is some impressive B die (I assume those are the ICs you have) if so.

I finally got tired of banging my head against a wall...with the Micron E die kit, I can boot and run games/firestrike/timespy over and over/render etc etc @ 3600 c18-18-18-36-1T...sounds good for a good rank 32GB kit right?

Wrong. I cannot get it pass a ram stress test no matter WTF I do, and for some reason the stupid IF frequency drops to 840Mhz (it's like a 53:1 divider according to CPU-Z.
I
manually set it to FCLK to 1600. Bios shows 1600 IF/3600 ram at reboot, but again CPU-Z says otherwise. Ram latency and throughput climbs and drops by a 1/3rd so I know it's doing something funky. CB r20 lost performance as well. Strangely my TS and FS scores were not affected! I am doing some ram OC testing (can't say more) and it's rock solid .

Nothing I can do will make this terrible nightmare end. I pulled the kit, put the 32GB (Micron D die) Ballistix kit back in and at 3000c15 it passed 2 hrs of ram stressing (so far) where the E die kit would not make it 15 min at best.

Since most of my gaming is centered around simracing...with a small amount of occasional transcoding, I went with less.

Ignore CPU-Z. Mine shows a ratio of 3:54 for FSB:DRAM. It does report 1800MHz for NB Frequency and DRAM Frequency of 1800Mhz. And yes this is B-Die I am using.

A number of people are reporting setting ram speed to 3600mhz is resulting in a max boost clock of 4250Mhz, this is not the case for me at all. What DID lock my boost clock to 4200MHz funnily enough was turning on PBO in my Bios. Turning it off again and I'm boosting to 4575Mhz. I'm starting to think this generation of CPU's it is best to set it on defaults and let it do its thing.

the R90 290 is a holdover from my old build. still runs pretty much everything i throw at it anyway.

i want to replace it with a 5700xt or maybe 58xx series when it comes out.

Well, the VR PC got it's "upgrade". Dropped a 3700x into the old Asrock B350 Pro4. Boosts to 4.375 single core, at stock. All-core is 4.025.

Tinkering with manual OC and I can get it to 4.275 all-core stable, but the VRMs are getting *really* toasty. "Old" mid-grade boards just can't handle the juice. Voltage required is 1.425 :p. It can do 4.2 GHz at 1.375v.

Some odd BIOS issues still, but I'm not really complaining. Just noticed while tinkering. The system won't post if I disable SMT. Kinda strange, but I'm not really going to gripe that my original ryzen motherboard has the odd quirk two generations later.

It is under water now, though. I was stupid back then and threw away the bracket mounts from the motherboard, since the spire cooler required that I remove them. So yay, I have a spare prism cooler that I can't attach to anything. I did boot the system with just the spire on it, for science. :p

The spire was good enough for most of the stock behavior, though it did get really warm. (like nearly 80 degrees during cinebench20) Didn't push it too far after that. I could lock down an all-core OC to 4.05 @ 1.25v and it was fine there, though. Should note that it's the original spire cooler, with the copper slug in the middle, not the new, all-aluminum spire. Don't know if there's much of a difference.

nice! my cores are going to sleep now too even with steam and a few other apps open..

Which power plan are you using? I'm still having the funny issue where my all core peaks around 4225 on my 3700x (AMD balanced / high performance) but if I swap to AMD Power Saver.. all cores run at 4300 for normal use like gaming... Still absolutely refusing to boost any core above 4.3ghz though.. awaiting new bios from gigabyte I guess.

My temps are lower too, but not that low and my 3900x is actually downclocking now, however my voltages are still at 1.45

Destiny 2 is launching. A game I've owned for a while and never played. Decided to give it a quick go just because and it's actually kind of fun even though i'm sure i'm probably playing it wrong.

Nice! You are lucky you have AGESA 1.0.0.3 vs the terrible crap 1.0.0.2 that Asus has left many of us with. I am hoping they release a new BIOS this week but at this point they will probably wait til AMD sorts out the one they just recalled.

Yeah i just installed this yesterday on my asrock. running 3200 for the first time with no issues so i am gonna try for 3600 next. Initial bios wouldn't let me get past 2933 on my dual rank kit. Very happy with AGESA 1.0.0.3 so far

The included cooler was a bonus for me because its on the CPU i stole the AIO from and its doing a great job.

Just finished this rig today for my work computer. These new PCI-E 4 SSD's are the real deal. I installed Win10 Enterprise from a WIM file (using DISM) from a USB-C SSD in sub 30 seconds. Unbelievable!

Trying to get the new Ryzen Master installed and getting this error:
upload_2019-7-31_0-17-17.png

Any ideas? I had HyperV installed as I was planning on testing some VMs from work, but even after uninstalling and rebooting I still get that error.

ETA, so I installed the latest bios for the MEG X570 ACE and it reset everything. I must have had some virtualizaion thing on in the bios to prep for possibly using HyperV because now Ryzen Master starts.

It's a bios setting that you have to disable in order to run Ryzen Master.

Yeah, the error message made it seem like there was a Windows 10 setting I missed. Also it isn't called VBS in the bios either. Thankfully it works now.

We have extremely similar builds! One thing to note, there is a Huge gap between the glass side panels and the case itself when they are shut and screwed in. This combined with the all the honeycomb air intake area on the bottom and the expansion slot covers means lots of dust.

I had my 3x140mm on my front rad as an intake, with the top 3x120mm fans running a bit slower as exhaust, and with the rear spit holding a 120mm fan set to intake as well.

I thought this setup would be skewed enough towards a high positive pressure to keep yh dust out, but I was wrong. I have since flipped my 3x120s to intake as well, and am going to use the gaps in the case sides as the exhaust slots (along with the mesh openings in bottom and back)since they are so big.

You will want to rub your fans fairly slowly as well, depending on your level of noise tolerance. The case does nothing to keep noise in. I run my GT 120s @ 7V and have the EK Vadar 140s @ 35% (they are PWM not straight DC regulated) since thry are a super loud above 1100rpms.

I hope this saves you from having to tear things down and redo your loop if you are noise and dust sensitive! I know my case weights in around 75lb with my old dual GPU setup, so having to pick up and take outside once every 10-15 days got old super quick.

On another note, I noticed that Despite Ryzen Master saying core 4 was my fastest with core 0 becoming the 2nd, single core loads were causibg core 1 to boost the most in CB20 and CPU-Z.

I tried removing the beta chipset drivers since I do not play Destiny 2 and reinstalling the drivers released on the 7th and Ryzen Master but this does not make a difference.

The new bios released today did not change this either. I have tried it with abd without PBO enabled. Hopefully once I get it under water the best core will be the one to actually boost the most.

Nice results pandora's box ...What ram kit is that again?

Ups just dropped off my 32kit Sammy B die kit..Set XMP and it booted and trained in about 10 seconds...Ran CB20 (both) without a hiccup but am doing an overnight ram test to make sure it's good before I start tweaking.

Timings are 4-14-14-34-1T but am going to try those @ 3400 since Ryzen RamCalc says I can 3400 14 across and 3600 14-15-15.

I think I'll try to dial 3400 in since I think that will be just as fast it possibly faster then 3600 mixed. The fact it says I should be able to do Cas14 @ 3600 is very tempting though.

I need to make sure that bios bug that was present in the old bios is gone since it was setting my FClK @840Mhz whenever I set the ram to 3600 with the old 2 kits.

Interesting. I have the 32GB (16GB dual rank each) kit....I thought about going with 4 DIMMS but I wanted the possibility of going to 64GB if we end up getting a decent upgrade in Zen2+/3.

It's doing a stress test now to make sure it's good to go before I start OC'ing. Just got word from the seller that my EK block will be here on Monday so I can get it under water and see what that does!

Some more fiddling this morning. Decided to try setting LLC to "Auto" instead of Level 3. I tried levels 1-5, all lost performance over auto...

Auto had all cores locked at 4100Mhz, with an occasional boost to 4150Mhz while running cinebench R20

I find it slightly amusing that the best performance on this 3900X is to leave everything in bios on Auto, set FCLK to 1800Mhz, and overclock your ram. Gone are the days of tweaking other settings imo.

I've had some strange hard locks and reboots so I upgraded the fans in my case and replaced the old power supply with a new HX750i.

Dan_D I tried to find the anal retentive carpenter sketch for you but NBC has SNL on a tight leash. Either way my slightly improved cable management might appease you a little more. :D

Probably the easiest memory overclock ever, lol. Punched in my RAM config into Ryzen DRAM calculator, selected DDR4-3600, rebooted into bios - punched in the calculated settings and boom, no issues at all:

New ram calc supports x570 and zen 2. I did the same. I wished the extreme profiles worked. I dont know enough to be that dangerous with sub timings. I gained 10 points avg in cinebenxh r15 just going from cas 16 to 14 at 3600mhz. It's all the sub timings that matter. That's where the real performance lies. Not just cas.

How is it running with 4 sticks of memory? I have yet to have the time to open any boxes for my build, let alone actually put it together.

As expected no such animal appeared. AMD is a joke for stock. Paper launch for the most part it appears. This won't gain them market share in HEDT.

Giving Best Buy another shot. Ordered one for $449 with birthday discount. Supposed to be here the 21st. Fingers crossed.

Curious why you're buying components from Best Buy. That's not exactly their forte.

Why not? They sell a fair amount of CPUs/Mobo/ram and if they cost the same and have stock, again why not?

Their inventory for components is rather limited. I don’t think they sell a whole lot of CPUs at all but if you can get one more power to you.
