The Division 2

I'm still here. Just submit an application to HardOCP in the game and I'll approve them as soon as I'm in game next. Maybe send me their Game tags so I approve the right players too.

Hey guys, if whoever has admin privileges for the HOCP Div2 clan could PM me, I have 3 buddies that are looking to join. They are the guys that I usually group with and are on EST evenings most days. LMK.

Today's SotG:

  • Lots of PTS stuff. New Content: 2 Expeditions, etc.
  • Buffs to Skills, Exotics & some Gear Sets
  • Crafting Bench can craft GS500 & Crafted Gear can be Recalibrated
  • All Blueprints that are not attached to Side Missions will be available via Vendor, Projects & Control Points, instead of certain BP's only dropping from certain events.
  • Anaya will sell a Perk that allows you to share all your BP's between all of your Characters, if you want too (if you prefer the grind, you can avoid it).
  • GS500 Exotics will always drop at max specs
  • Cassie will now sell GS500 items

2 more lvl 4 CP's to go for the exotic holster, my trigger finger needed some rest after the first one, hectic but fun.

Anyone able to do the Expedition in the PTS? I played the Zoo and White Oak Park, but the Expedition kept telling me I had to wait for availability (or something like that).

The Zoo was good fun, similar to a full length mission. Got some back story on the Outcast leader. Some excellent set pieces and locale for the mission. but that has always been Massive's strong point.
The Park wasn't quite as interesting (to me anyway), but still a good location and mission. I did enjoy its layout however. Most of D2 seems designed for short to mid-ranged engagements, where as this mission seemed built for the Snipers. It was nice breaking out something besides an Assault Rifle (my usual go-to), and gave me some practice with the Nemesis.

I think the crafting changes will be nice, and the Exotics dropping at max specs will make them more worth the grind to get them. Hopefully our existing ones will be grandfathered in.

Right now I'm fairly burned out with the game. It seems all I do is "Loot as junk" or "Deconstruct" because the RNG is so bad, and the constant inventory management has started to make me dread playing. I know they are working on it, and it will get there, but in the meantime there is just too many other games to play to keep interested. Been tinkering with Survive Mars, Subnautica Sub-zero & Assassins Creed Odyssey. Work has moved me to 3rd shift (someone got fired and I'm covering their vacancy), which I did not see coming, and so I'm rarely up or around when most of you are playing now. That has not helped matters. I'm sure I'll play some once TU5 rolls out, hopefully I can hook up with some of you then (jmaker SereLaw ).

Happy Independence Day to you too, lol. I woke up to fireworks tonight, so I went out on the deck and watched them for a bit. Then I introverted right back inside. :ROFLMAO:

Crafting will be worth doing now because you can get 500 gear and the gear pieces are recalibratable(? lol ). That's a huge difference. I do believe that they mentioned that things will be grandfathered in because they talked about the nemesis being updated to max power. I think these changes will be good to keep people playing. I too have taken a break from the game because its just a pointless grind.....

I'll say it: Inventory, crafting, and inventory management stinks on these games. They can go ahead and liberally borrow from Destiny and I'd be real happy with that. Destiny Inventory Manager app comparable for Division? Yes, please.

Since I got the exotic holster I, too, and basically back to soft cruise control. I wouldn't mind getting the rest of the masks and I need two more of those Ivory Keys. That's about it.

Hell froze over and I finally got Merciless to drop the other day. Unfortunately it's weak sauce for me. 32k or so damage. My MK17 is a good 10k more in DMG strength easily.

The RNG is unbelievable in this game. It sucks. It's not fun IMO. It needs some fundamental retooling.

There is a lot I like about this game obviously or I wouldn't play it at all but they aren't far from losing a lot of people in the relatively near future if they don't address some of this. That last PTS update in post 1801 sends me some potential signals of promise.

I really want to play the new things on PTS but at the same time, I want to be surprised by it when I first run it on the live server. I did log in and try out the crafting and things.

For me right now, the main problem I have is the Inventory Management. I can deal with item RNG over the long term. I might not like it, but I can deal with it.

All they need to do to fix this game is bring back the crafting and upgrade bench as it was in Division 1.

I agree I'd like to have that, but I don't see the Optimization Station returning until much closer to 'end of life' for this game, definitely not during year one for sure. Even if they did, it wouldn't really fix the game imo. There would be even less compelling reason to grind for anything. The DZ would still have "lost its feel" and not offer any compelling alternative to straight PvE. The Skill system would still be broken and nearly useless. The Gear Sets and Build diversity would still be bland and lifeless. Inventory management would feel even more pointless since there would be less reason to pick anything up. There are still a lot of issues to work out that an optimized build alone would not solve.

Speaking of Skills, they are experimenting with changes in the PTS, but I'm guessing they will be tweaked extensively before making it to the main game.

Some time ago I was messing on alt's with different skills, I tried to use the drone to do bombing runs, what an exercise in frustration that was, around 1 in 10 uses it more or less did what I asked it to do, 3 out of 10 it would just do a bombing run in a straight line in front of me, the rest of the time I would be clicking somwhere on the screen to try and make it do anything at all untill I just gave up and destroyed it so that I could at least shoot my gun again.

I should not be that hard to just choose two spot's on your screen and have that thing do a bombing run, but I guess it is.

The sniper turret needs to much micromanaging and even then it seems most of the time to not do anything at all even when you keep giving it targets.

inventory management is meh at best, a couple patches ago they made it worse imo as the exclamation marks that denote new gear seem to vanish at random, also it would be handy if i did not have to scoll down the items to see al the stat's, sceen is big enough to be able to get all on it in one go.

every time I looked at using those drones skills I was turned off as well by the usage mechanics. the gun drone is fine, but the other things seemed so complicated to me.

Anyone still looking for a D50 to craft the Liberty exotic sidearm, the DZ East vendor is selling one this week

Let me repeat myself: Get the exotic holster if you even remotely give a flip about using pistols. If you do, then Liberty is a must have and Liberty + Exotic Holster is unbelievable.

Looks like Episode 1 is out. I'm having all sorts of problems though. The game is also back to taking up too 5 minutes to load.

I wasn't sure I was even going to get in. I guess we can expect that after every major update.

I did get in thankfully and it sure is nice to *finally* have some new content.

Yea the load times are horrendous again. I don't have the season pass so i have to wait until next week to get the new missions and expeditions but playing with the skills i think they made a major step in the right direction because they are now extremely useful in a fight. The artillery turret for the demolitionist is great i was able to actually do some serious damage with that thing. It has more damage and more rounds per use which is a good thing. The seeker mine is insane as well. I have like 600K damage and thats with mid level mods. Im genuinely excited to see these changes because it changes how you handle the fight now. In the past I used my skill as more of a defensive tactic rather than wholly offensive.

This new LAWG is getting a test drive from me. I like it. It has potential although I still think the 249B and M60 are not going to be unseated by it.

My problem with the game is just the pacing you run to the objective hide behind some man made stuff and shoot. Like gears of war but with realistic graphics. Unless i"m not far enough in the game. Every thing pops as far as the graphics unless my monitor is too small you don't know what to focus on. probably the reason why the muted colors in the Division one went over better.

Logged in after a decent hiatus and played all the new content save for the Raid. Haven't messed with Skills yet, but I may give them a whirl. The Expedition must be getting released in stages, I only had access to one of the 4 areas. Not sure if they are going to rotate them like the Strongholds, or if the other areas will come with the 2nd & 3rd Episodes (more likely). Either way, they were fun enough. It was nice to play something new. Only Story mode difficulty so far, so not much replayability there (much like the Classified missions). Inventory management is still the biggest irritation I have with this game.

I could not upgrade my Crafting Bench to 500, it says I did not meet the Blueprint requirement. Are we supposed to acquire all the BP's before we can upgrade to 500? If that's the case I probably will not bother. This game offers a lot, but just doesn't keep my interest like Division 1 did. Cannot put a finger on what it is missing, but it is definitely missing something.

I don't have all the blueprints and could upgrade without issue, you do need a pce of armor and a gun of at least GS490 orso to do the upgrade on top pf the rest of the mat's.

I'll look into that, thanks. I know I did not have a spare pistol on me when I tried it, but I did not see that in the requirements either. I was just getting up, so probably still half awake.

In unrelated news, I just got an invite to the Ghost Recon Breakpoint Alpha, so I may be distracted with that for a bit first.

That is exactly the extent of the gameplay throughout the whole game. GoW + repeating the same missions over and over + loot.

So my buddies and I hit the Zoo mission yesterday on Story mode ... and WOW it was Bat-S crazy. I don't want to spoil it for anyone but the croc pen and the last Big boss fight were crazy good. Compared to White Oak (the only other new thing we've run) it was a surprising bump in difficulty since White Oak was such a cake walk.

Anyway, we'll probably hit the last new thing in the update - some something College soon and will report back.

BTW: Stoner LMG - looks cool and kinda fun but not as good at DPS as current M60/249 IMO. The Carbine 7 also is kinda cool but spec wise isn't as great as other assault rifles already in game (if you already have a good Mk16 or P416 specifically).

Is it just me or did the loading issue get even worst now? Right after Episode 1 was released the load times went up to about 3:30 mins. Now it's over 5 mins to load! WTF are they doing?

It's pretty bad atm even more so a couple days ago, I press play, go to get a drink and for a pee, get back to the pc only to see the game had patched itself and I had to restart it again. This is to my knowledge the only game that needs to restart after a launcher patched the game and the game does another patch for some reason.

I'm with you on that - I thought they had fixed it in a patch a while back then it seems it got unfixed again. It bad but I'm not sure if it's as bad as it was at its peak.

The first loading from first clicking on the icon is the worst. Then the two followup loading (%) screens seems to excessive.

TD2 is the slowest loading game I own... I'm hoping they optimize instead of letting it get worse.

Well it looks like they had server maintenance last night and finally fixed the slow loading issue (again!). I was able to hit start and spawn in front of the White House in about 1:30 mins. Huge improvement. :)

Yep - I think most / all of us are running on above average hardware (fast cpus and nvme drives) and it's still this bad. I feel sorry for the people trying to run this on spinner drives.

Season pass holders, did anybody else love the Classified NSA bunker and the Aquarium missions? I think I enjoyed those missions more than the Camp David(White Oak) and Zoo stronghold mission. I hope Massive makes more Classified missions in the future.

I just wished we didn't have to wait 24 hours for to play the missions again.

In the NSA mission, the backpack trophy can be found if you go up on a ledge to the right in the data center. There's a yellow box you can barely see behind you where the fan is, once you stop the fan you'll know where to go.

I enjoyed them at least as much. I wish we could select a difficulty other than "Story", but it's a minor complaint. There are so many interesting locations for them to work with, I am glad they are making the most of it, I just wish there was more replayability to them.
