Star Citizen - media blowout, Chris Robert's new game

I purchased the 35$ intro ship way back when and have not touched this since. I have no interest in playing with test/alphas. I am mostly interested in the single player game they were advertising back then. Has there been any word on that? Maybe a release year or something?
Thanks.

So the persistence seems to have improved quite a bit. I logged out in space a few weeks ago and logged back in in the same spot in my ship as I left it. Not going to get too excited until I see it happening regularly.

3.6 PTU open to all backers

3.6 was published to the Live servers a few hours ago.

Included in the patch as a surpise is the flight ready Anvil Ballista, a mobile anti air missile platform.

Here is a group of them against a Hammerhead

Versus the newly upgraded Vanguard Warden

And some more (skip to ~2:30 for a nice shot)

This patch is quite buggy. There are bugs that have reappeared from several patches ago related to quantum travel, and ship repair is broken. Hopefully they fix it.

You forgot the price tag for that ground vehicle, $140.

You guys know that they have other ground vehicles as well, right? Not as many as space vehicles, but they have their own specific roles that are separate and can range from motorcycles (armed and unarmed - these are different from the motorcycle-style flying ships like the Dragonfly or Nox) "Jeep" type buggies (armed and unarmed), transport rovers (unarmed mostly, like the ones that come with different Constellation versions), APCs, and even a full on tank!

Its also good to remember that all these items and vehicles will be able to be acquired in game without spending real money ; in fact, post launch (unless something has changed and I'll be the very first one to condemn them if it has) you will not be able to buy in-game content with real world currency at all. This is why they mention it is essentially a donation to development, not exclusive etc... on every concept sale page.

To be able to buy with saved-up in-game currency implies an environment stable enough that you have full persistence, and none of the wipes they've been doing on major releases.

So yeah, princess, until you CAN do that (in 2022), you're stuck paying an exorbitant $160.

Quit pretending that just because that's how it SHOULD work, doeesn't mean it WILL anytime soon.

That is the plan for launch, of course it works differently during Alpha. And you're not "stuck" paying for it - even during Alpha they have offered various ways to fly ships you don't own via real world purchase including free or cheap aUEC (in-game currency) based purchases, REK, promos where everything from a certain manufacturer is unlocked for free, etc. To suggest that the only way to get access to anything is by paying for it is inaccurate .

I clarify: if you want to own it permanently, that will be $160. There is no other way to do this in the current Alpha, even though your first post says otherwise.

I don't care about promos, I care about owning. You folks dance around this point in whatever way you can, because deep down inside even you realize how much of a grift these vehicles are.

Pay to own will probably continue to be the only way to play after full release, if they don't change the current slow fixed cargo sales rate. You'll be stuck running missions for all your coin and that will take forever..but still be faster than waiting for your cargo to sell.

I'm pretty sure that after being exposed to all that " fake realism in economy" for long enough, any serious fools left will get desperate and break down and drop the $160. That's because the game was always designed to be Pay To Win.

Didn't they talk about selling land rights for $$?

Remember you aren't forced to buy anything, those who pledge now are doing it because they either want to support development and/or want the instant gratification of owning something NOW.

You can already buy nearly every single flyable ship/vehicle (excluding some limited/alien ships like the Vanduul ones) with in game credits.

Here is a complete list, and keep in mind the in-game credit to dollar ratios are nowhere near final and will be tweaked/balanced.

Crytek was just ordered to post up a $500000 bond within 30 days to cover CIGs legal expenses in case Crytek loses. This is in light of the judge having dismissed not once but twice (after appeal) pretty much all of their claims and giving not so subtle hints on how she is going to rule should the case go to trial. The judge has even given plenty of opportunity and incentive to settle but they have either failed to show up to discuss settlement or made no effort to negotiate.

If they can't come up with the bond money their case will likely be dismissed.

Initially they were going to be required to posts $2 million but the judge saw Crytek's poor financial situation and lowered it so as to not prevent them access to the judicial system.

P.S: The law firm representing Crytek, Skadden (the ones who got $500 million for Zenimax from Facebook/Oculus VR) dropped them as clients because Crytek seemingly refused their advice to settle or maybe because they simply couldn't afford them anymore.

Oh and one big reason for asking Crytek to put up a bond is because they are a foreign company not beholden to California courts jurisdiction which is where they filed their claims/suit. Should they lose in trial they can simply slink away refusing to pay anything the court orders them to.

Oh and the damn thing is about to get an upgrade. Its range will be extended to 10Km from the
current in-game 2Km.

So out of curiosity, why would anyone be excited or want a new vehicle, that is buggy and costs $140, when at least 80% of the what was promised to be released 3-4 years ago is still missing?
Because it comes with a dream of the potential of the possibility of one day maybe playing this game with infinite possibilities that you've created in your head from the endless stories and promises lord Chris has given the past decade. Be honest, can you really put a price on that?

You can on cocaine, though, so pledge now!

Yes, $60.

Pretty much all single seat ships fit inside it including the long ass Xi'an Scout on landing mode. Once you get to medium size like Cutlass and Freelancer it's a no go.

It also has a rear cargo bay that can easily fit 4 Cyclones + 1 Ursa while leaving the cargo lift empty for more vehicles/cargo. I would've stuffed more in there but I don't own more vehicles.

Technically it wasn't shrunk.

The way they go about building ships is they block out the interior room/volumes then build the ship hull around it. The initial block out determined that the ship needed to be larger and thus went from 120m to 150m (growing not just lenght but width and height as well) BUT as they continued to work on it they managed to resize the interior rooms to fit within the original 120m long hull.

So the Carrack ends up 120m long as it was originally announced.

But yeah by comparison the 890 Jump is much larger at 210 meters.

Inb4 the hate mob... "That ship costs HOW MUCH??? REEE SCAM CITIZEN CR IS A COKEHEAD REEEE"

Will try to capture some footage tomorrow. Landed an avenger in the hangar and loaded a ballista in the cargo bay tonight before the game crashed, but its first wave 1 patch. 3.6.1 has been very stable in public universe.
