I'm not remotely versed in Apple OS. I just go w/ the instruction from places like youtube.

I'm helping this person dumping a 5 yr. old apple laptop to Windows 10 PC. His Safari software has a "Preference" section that saved all the password. And currently he can get into Gmail and read incoming mail via Safari.

So I go to Safari, check under accounts.google.com and it shows that password. Now let's say the pwd. is johndoe123

Using Google Chrome, i.e., either the Chrome on this old Apple laptop or the Chrome at the new Windows 10 PC, I go to gmail.com, and type in his gmail addr., and the above pwd: johndoe123

guess what? Chrome said the password is wrong

How can that be? Safari saved that password, I don't understand

Check the Keychain, that is where Apple OS stores the passwords.

This is under the Settings Application. Sorry I can't describe it better, my Mac is at home, so I am doing this from memory.
