Hot News Warm Deal - Inland "Performance" 2TB PCIE Gen 4x4 5000MB/s Read NVMe SSD $449

Uses the new Phison PS5016-E16 Controller. E16 for short.

Horrible horrible pricing. But, here it is guys. New Gen 4. And I believe these are the first pics and news ever anywhere on the internet.

In stock Kansas City Microcenter .. 10+

Looks like AMD is first to market with Gen 4 which I find surprising. Hats off to them.

Better to buy a Pci-e 4x NVMe Card for $50 to $80 and populate it with 4 x 1tb E12 NVMe drives. Basically the same price but double the storage and double the performance.

Here is some additional news on the E16 Controller -

Pretty sure MC is gouging 7-7 Ryzen buyers to get it on release.

Besides capacity... there is literally no human way to perceive these speeds over a phison e12 based.

I know this is a bit off topic, but does anyone know of a heatsink that can be used with the Inland Premium 1TB drives? My primary m.2 slot has an aluminum one that connects to the VrM-Southbridge but my 2bd slot is wide open. Seeing the heatsink on that monster reminded me to ask.

I agree MC is making a healthy profit in these....they know a lot of ppl will want Zen3 right away with Mobos, so why not try to get them to buy ram and storage and a case etc etc

Doesn't look like MC is price gouging. That's the same price as Corsair and Sabrent (with heatsink) models on Amazon. All three models (along with Gigabytes yet-unpriced one) use the same controller. PCIE Gen 4 SSDs are just going to be expensive.

Ek heatsink but the problem with the e12 design is that your heatsink touches the nand which is bad. We want hot nand trust me. It doesn't touch the controller. We want a cool controller and hot nand.

I've read just about every single posting on the other thread I started, many times over in most cases ... its just a handful of guys with heat issues or "perceived heat issues" ... I'm sure the problems are real but it's a very very low number.

I also think for some, they are letting it plant seeds of doubt, worry and concern in their minds and it's just bugging the holy shit out of them to where they aren't getting any rest on the matter.

Who knows.

You guys can use the little heat sinks a lot of guys use for the Raspberry Pie ... little copper ones, they are small and tall and should catch more airflow

Rasp pi heat sinks would work awesome. Just stick one on controller and leave the nand naked.

Same company makes all these E16 drives, probably the 1tb E12 drive as well as well as other sizes. Wish we knew for sure. Would be cool if anyone here had the ability to dig around and found out factories and addresses just for the fun of it.

This is NOT worth the different in price versus the e12 controller version.

I agree

I doubt they are selling many

Price is way way too high and it's only really of benefit to the AMD crowd who are typically "budget" builders.

So .. yeah

I could see using one of these if I was doing a ton of high rez video editing, and needed to shuffle the files around. But then that would be for pay, and time is money. Other than that, I doubt anyone would perceive the differences between the 4.0 and 3.0 drives.

The price is terrible although its nice to see them on sale.
I wouldnt be a guinea pig unless it was less than 1/2 that price and had better general performance. I'll probably be waiting 4 years+ for this to happen lol.
As it stands there is almost no value for practically everyone.

Now 399 on prime, prime deal.

Edit, nevermind thats the sabrent pcie 4 one.
