Intel Xeon 16-Core Processor E5-2683 v4 $200 New at Woot

Wow, That took long, deal just popped up too with 0 sold as i posted it.

Shucks

Probably the same as all the engineer samples/OEM pulls on ebay for nearly the same price. Wouldn't be a surprise considering all the counterfeit Chinese shit Amazon openly allows. What's a few crates of OEM "Confidential" Xeons from China matter?

Probably fakes that were pulled. Shady stuff always going on in that Amazon jungle...

And you would be correct (for those of you not familiar with the Xeon line, this is not what an E5 v4 looks like):

Wow, I can't believe it was that obviously wrong. The scammers are getting bold.
Looks like someone has a CO2 laser to etch these. Guessing this is going to be more and more common. Either send in garbage inventory to be mixed in at Amazon or buy a legitimate one and scam a return is my thought as to what happened.
What chip is it actually?
It's some sort of Xeon E5 v3. Low core count since the higher end CPUs are physically larger. My guess is either the lowest end thing you can get (that would be an E5-2603 v3) or a dead CPU since that would also be cheap. I might stick it in one of my motherboards, but I'm on the fence about risking a system (I have a board with bent pins on the second socket if it came down to it). How badly do you lot want to know?

Nah you don't need to risk your hardware -- I just didn't know off the top of my head what gen that was by looking at it.

What risk is there if it's the same socket? A dead CPU wouldn't hurt the board. Do eeeeett! :p

90 day "woot" limited warranty? Credit card warranty for returning goods that are not as advertised?
