Got my 3900X today and installed it using the AMD Wraith. So far looking good, temps are about 35c at idle and with all cores maxed running at just over 4GHZ each core I hit about 75c. So really around the same as my 2700X at idle, a little higher at max. I do have the Wraith on the high setting also.

Make sure it's not overvolting your chip tho, will make it run hotter then it needs to.

You can usually undervolt by 0.03-0.1V depending on your chip. This will make for better thermals and longer boost duration.

My 2600X would do -0.05V, the 2700X would do -0.087V, and the 3700X would do -0.05 volts and run (unchecked for stability) with PBO for regular use without further tweaking.

So here is the really cool thing my X470 is now PCIe4 capable, HWinfo64 reports the PCIE 16 slot and others running at PCIe4.

Well from what I have read my x370 board may do 4.0 as well. Dont really care if it does or does not but if it does then they really overbuilt the Crosshair VI Hero.

I don't know I'll take it, also really glad I didn't spend $400 on a new X570 board.

It's not just the Crosshair and ROG stuff either. Noticed the cheapo ASUS prime 450 board I bought for my kids system is fully good to go PCIe 4.0 16x and 4x on the m.2 won't ever likely use 4 on that board. Still crazy that its capable.

I just noticed a article on Guru 3D that a PCIe 4 SSD drive hit around 5gb reading and 4.2 writing.

It really shouldn't be a surprise- supposing that the board wasn't built to the minimum edge of the PCIe 3.0 spec, enabling PCIe 4.0 for CPU lanes need only entail the BIOS allowing the CPU to do what it is designed to do.

Only on the nicest boards would there be componentry 'in the way' that might physically prevent the CPU from operating over the wires as designed.

see the 1st m.2 and 1st pcie are driven off the cpu so enjoy your pcie 4.0 :D

You got lucky. No matter what I tried, I can't get mine idle below 45c. Prime95-small causes 90c. I have the same mobo. I tried reseating many times. Also tried both H115i pro and NH-D15. The same result everytime. Vcore offset didn't work, either. I offsetted it by -0.0125. System resets while running Cinebench 20. Does anyone have suggestions?

I put my AMD Wraith into high setting first off, and in my bios I can create a fan curve and overuse the stock settings.

Try creator mode in AMD Ryzen Master.I am actually testing ram CL16 4200Mhz in this screen with fixed voltage all core 4300Mhz on X470 motherboard but the 3900X is binned better. You will get the temperatures in control.Hope this helps.

Also one big benefit is we have central AC which I keep at 68F, plus having a case with a two intake fans and 3 exhaust fans helps.

I don't even bother using Prime 95, I use 3D Mark, Cinebench R15 or R20, or even the stress testing in CPUZ. Prime 95 is a waste of time and not even close to real world use , at least that is my opinion.
