I have been using my Achieva Shimian 27" for the past five years, and after calibration the image quality has been excellent. Some newer technologies like G-Sync / Freesync, higher 120+ Hz, and 4K have left me wanting to upgrade. My problem is, I absolutely hate dull, lifeless, hazy, matte displays. I have an environment in which I can control the reflections / lighting in my space, so I do not need an anti-glare filter which will detract from the display. Are there any 27" + 4K displays coming out in the near future that have a good old fashioned glossy display?

I would say most people would disagree with you on this and much prefer a matt or semi-matt finish. I highly doubt we will see ANY glossy PC monitors, at any size, for the foreseeable future.

Short answer, no. stay with what you have. I agree with you 100% on glossy vs matte monitors.

I saw an Acer 43" glossy display at microcenter today for $399. It looked really nice actually and I almost went home with it.

Does anyone know if there is any place that you can send a display with the hazy matte coating, and have them remove it like other users have done on the forum?

  • In 1972, a crack commando unit of monitor AG dematters was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum-security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as modders of fortune. If you have an AG problem, perhaps something like that shitty sparkly dell AG matte coating from hell... if no one wants to help... and if you can find them... maybe you can hire... The Callsign V-Team.
