Need some FreeNAS help

I have 2 FreeNAS boxes. Both are configured exactly the same except for ip addresses of course.

I can copy files to Box A all day long but when I try to copy files to Box B I get "destination folder access denied".

I've gone over everything till I'm blue in the face and still no joy. I have no need whatsoever for any kind of security, i just want to copy files to the damn box.

Source box is Windows Server 2012 R2.

Are you trying to copy over SMB? If so, make sure the version settings match up. Windows later than 7 can be very picky about smb version, and 10 flat out wont see any FreeNAS that isnt SMBv3 only.

Both FreeNAS boxes are running the latest version , 11.2 U5. Source box is Windows Server 2012 R2. I can copy from the server to Box A no problem but not Box B.

Right, you said that in the first post. How are you copying files? Drag and drop? Powershell command? Do the boxes have identical hardware? How did you clone the configuration? You left out a lot of information, so all anyone can do is make a generalized guess.

Server 2012r2 is the server version of 8.1.

Do you know what SMB is?

This morning I deleted the NAT entry and rule and started over. After following the official instructions -

It still didn't work.

Then after digging a bit more I found the permissions setting under STORAGE / POOLS/ EDIT PERMISSIONS. Changed the user from root to me and that fixed it.

Why the hell this isn't mentioned anywhere is beyond me.
